What you will need
The list of required tools is small, but you won’t be able to do without at least one of them:
- A special blade made of plastic or nylon. Needed to pry the cover of the smartphone and remove it. You can buy it for pennies at any technical store or trading platform. As a last resort, an alternative is a discount card.
- Standard tweezers. It is used to pry up and remove most small parts.
- A clip for removing the SIM card. Usually comes in the factory kit along with the smartphone. If you get lost, use any sharp pin , but be careful.
- Phillips screwdriver with a diameter of 1.5 mm . Necessary for loosening bolts, screws, etc.
- Replacement materials: glass, battery or touchscreen. Depends on the purpose of the repair. You can buy it mainly in online stores, but choose only a trusted seller so that the quality of the parts is high.
What tools are needed?
First of all, you need to ensure that you have all the necessary tools, without which you won’t even be able to remove the cover from Xiaomi, let alone in the future. To open the lid and proceed further you will need:
- Included clip for removing the SIM card slot.
- A set of Phillips screwdrivers of different sizes, the Xiaomi company likes to use different types of fasteners to complicate repairs, this Redmi was no exception.
- Plastic spatula (if desired, it can be replaced with almost anything, even a guitar pick).
- Tweezers to make it easier to remove the cable.
- It is advisable to have an unnecessary plastic card.
- Maximum brightness and high-quality lighting, as well as a clean and level table for work.
- Any container in which the bolts and internal parts of the gadget will be stored. It is strictly not recommended to keep everything on the table; something you need can be lost with this approach.
- If someone plans to remove and replace the display, they will need an industrial hair dryer.
A set like this is vital to getting the job done.
How to open the back cover of Redmi 4X
Before you begin repairing the “filling,” you need to remove the back panel of the mobile device. Unfortunately, Xiaomi phones do not boast the removable cover found on other budget devices. Therefore, arm yourself with tools and get started:
- Turn off the phone and wait about a minute for all processes to stop completely. Take a paperclip and remove the SIM card. Do not press too hard, otherwise you may break the tray.
- Next, use a spatula to pry up the panel. Starting from the end and moving along the entire perimeter of the case, we snap off the fastener. If one part has already become detached, while the others are still latched, we help ourselves with a plastic card or our nails.
- Since there are no screws, we simply lift the cover with smooth movements. Be extremely careful not to pull the panel , since a module responsible for the operation of the fingerprint scanner is attached to it. Any jerk and it can be easily damaged.
This completes the removal of the rear panel. We can see the metal plate, camera modules and battery. To replace a certain part, a deeper disassembly is required, which is discussed below.
Step-by-step disassembly instructions
Before disassembling the phone, turn it off, remove the SIM card and flash drive. If this is not done, removing the back panel may damage the connectors.
Then do the following:
- To open the latches, place a special spatula under the back cover, move it forward 1-2 mm and slide it across the entire panel of the phone. Actions must be taken with care to avoid damage to the housing or internal components.
- Then slowly remove the lid, lifting it slightly. In this case, you need to be careful not to damage the cable that connects one part of the smartphone to another. Sudden movements may cause the fingerprint scanner cable to break due to its short length.
- After this, the cable itself is removed. First, the fasteners are pryed off, then the part is removed. If there is adhesive tape, remove it in advance.
- When the cable is removed, you can see the chipset, on which there is a battery and a protective board on top. A camera module is installed above the chipset. To remove it, you need to disconnect another cable. To remove the processor or battery, you will need to unscrew the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Also at this stage you can remove the section with the speaker.
- After unscrewing all the screws, the phone is considered disassembled. The parts are removed sequentially.

There may be other cables under the modules that are disconnected from the connectors. The size of the screws may vary, which is taken into account during disassembly. They are placed on a separate surface so as not to be lost. Removing the protective board will expose the battery mounts.
If the battery does not yield, then you need to slightly heat the case to soften the adhesive and disconnect the battery.
How to change the display
Accidentally dropped your phone and cracks appeared on the screen? This is a fairly common situation among users. The only way out is to completely change the display. Please note that if the damage is serious, it is necessary to install a new display, and not a separate glass.
- We carry out all the steps described above , after which we remove the seals , if any. We arm ourselves with a screwdriver and unscrew the bolts on the protective panel. Using tweezers, set them aside .
- We repeat the same action with the battery. Place the screws in different places to avoid confusion during assembly.
- We also unscrew the bottom panel where the antennas are hidden
- carefully tighten the trains , trying not to tear them. After removal, we remove the camera cable.
- Remove the bottom panel. To remove the battery, you need to get rid of the protective adhesive located on the sides. We grab it with tweezers and remove it. Be careful not to damage the battery as it becomes deformed very easily.
- Next, we get rid of the top microcircuit. Now we have an almost “naked” panel in front of us. All that remains is to remove the green board.
- the vibration motor, front camera and earpiece from the old display to the new one Don't forget about the side buttons. We peel them off very carefully and attach them to the new glass.
- When all the small parts have been transferred, we peel off the cables from the old display and also re-glue them into the new one. Remove the protective bluish film.
- Done, now all that remains is to put the smartphone back together in the same sequence in which it was disassembled. Be sure to check that your new display has all the necessary elements.
Video instruction
As you can see, the procedure is not very easy, and a beginner may not be able to cope with it. If you do not have good technical knowledge and skills, strictly follow our instructions, and if problems arise, immediately contact the service center.
Screen replacement
The phone screen often breaks. Cracks may appear on it, making it difficult to use the display. If the protective glass is missing, you will have to replace the screen. Before disassembling the smartphone, the display is warmed up using a hair dryer.
Then you need:
- disassemble the phone;
- remove the battery;
- remove the chip and green board;
- move the vibration motor, front camera, speaker and power and volume keys to the new screen from the old one;
- move cables;
- remove the protective film;
- check for details on the new screen;
- collect the phone.
After replacing the element, the smartphone is turned on and its functionality is checked.
How to replace the touchscreen
Don't want to completely replace the display module with a lot of time? Then maybe it’s worth replacing just the screen? This operation is much easier, but we still recommend that you approach it responsibly and prepare in advance:
- Remove the back cover , unscrew the bolts and take out the battery .
- Now we take any hard, but not sharp object. This can be a plastic card or a thin spatula. We insert it into the housing mount and slightly pry it up.
- The touchscreen fits tightly to the matrix, so you won’t be able to simply remove the protective adhesive. It needs to be warmed up. Regular hair dryer jets will do, or place the gadget on a hot radiator, making sure to wrap it in a towel.
- As soon as the glue warms up, put the suction cup on the screen and very carefully pull it towards you. It is unlikely that the glass will be kept intact, so do not cut yourself.
- Did you remove the old screen? Great, then we clean the case from the remaining glue and tape. Never wipe with a damp cloth! Cleaning with a regular spatula will do.
- When the case is completely clean, attach the new touchscreen by applying a thin layer of glue to it. We press the glass against the body, but be careful so that it does not crack. Try to glue the screen as evenly as possible; to do this, remove any exposed glue.
- We wait about 15-20 minutes for the touchscreen to fully grip, and we begin the standard assembly of the device. Ready.

Main reasons and their solution
I have been working with Xiaomi equipment for quite a long time and I would like to note that the products of this company are of quite high quality. At least not worse than its competitors - there are successful models, and there are not very successful ones. For example, many owners complain that Xiaomi Redmi 4x sometimes turns off on its own and the reason for these shutdowns is not clear. Therefore, I repeat - not a single model is immune from engineering errors and technical defects. If the device is still under warranty, then you can hope for free repair or even replacement of the gadget. If you are faced with the fact that your Xiaomi phone does not turn on a few days after purchase, you can try to return it to the seller. But if you took it from your hands, then in this case you will have to repair it at your own expense.
Let's look at the most common cases when Xiaomi Redmi turns off and won't turn on. Before this, you did not drown it or drop it. What to do? Let's start with the battery.
Deep battery discharge
Modern smartphones use lithium batteries with a built-in charging controller that shuts off the battery's electrical supply line when completely discharged. This is done in order to protect the battery from reducing its capacity below the permissible value, after which it simply stops working. This is why the phone does not turn on immediately when the charger is connected.
It is worth paying attention to whether the red charge indicator on the phone is blinking at this time (on some models it may be white). You should wait at least 30-40 minutes and only after that try pressing the power button
In some cases, you have to wait several hours to bring the device out of deep discharge.
Faulty cable or charger
Many owners have a charging cable for about six months, after which they begin to act strange. In addition, the cable length is not always enough and it is connected “pull-in”. Over time, damage appears; several times I even encountered cases where the plug came off and hung on thin wires, as in the photo:
The other extreme is that the plug is not fully inserted into the socket. As a result, the contacts do not touch well and charging is either possible or not. On an old cable, the latches may not work well and may come loose from the connector. As a result, the person set the phone to charge for several hours, but in fact it not only did not charge, but was even more discharged - the phone blinks and does not turn on!
Xiaomi chargers are of quite high quality and last for at least a year, but they still fail sooner or later. At the same time, externally you will not find any traces on it - it just turned off and that’s it. And again, a person will think that the phone is charging, but in fact it is not. As a result, when he tries to turn it on, he will find that his Xiaomi Redmi does not turn on and does not respond to pressing the Power button. So the advice here is simple: if you have problems turning on your smartphone, try a different charger and cable. Believe me - in 80% of cases the problem is solved at this stage!
SIM card is buggy
Yes, just imagine - a regular SIM card can cause problems with your phone. Therefore, I would advise you to remove it and try to turn on your Xiaomi without a SIM card. If the smartphone works, check the SIM card in another device. Its contacts may oxidize and this leads to a short circuit. If dirt, plaque or oxidation is visible to the naked eye, you can clean the contacts with a regular eraser or a cotton swab moistened with alcohol. If the phone does not turn on even without a SIM card, then you should check the slot. True, for this the device will have to be disassembled. In my memory, there was a case when some debris that accidentally fell bent the contacts in the slot and they shorted.
Firmware problems
The cause of problems with turning on Xiaomi phones may also be a software failure: unsuccessful flashing, failure while loading the operating system, installation of TWRP, the result of malware. True, most often there may be some messages or icons on the screen. Then you should try to go into the engineering menu of the device by holding down the power button and the volume up button for more than 10 seconds. If you succeed, then you can try resetting Xiaomi via the so-called Hard Reset.
How to change the battery
This is the easiest procedure of all presented in our article. You only need to buy a new battery designed specifically for your smartphone and insert it instead of the factory one. This is done as follows:
- Open the back cover and remove the old battery ;
- We take double-sided tape and attach it to the sides of the new battery. We insert it into the body.
- We check whether the mobile device works, and if everything is in order, we finish the assembly.
This is how easy it is to change the battery not only in Redmi 4X, but in almost any Xiaomi phone.

As you can see, disassembling a Xiaomi smartphone is sometimes a painstaking and responsible task. But if you strictly follow the recommendations, be careful and take your time, everything will work out. Have questions? Write to us, we will always help. Good luck!
Appearance and equipment
The inexpensive smartphone is packaged in a red box without pictures. The internal molding accommodates the charger, tray clip and cable.
The box contains documentation, a silicone case and a microUSB cable. Products on the domestic market are presented in three color options (white, black, gold).
Compared to the Note 5, the Note 5 Pro has the same elongated display that occupies the entire front panel. Thanks to the rounded edges, the screen looks impressive and modern. The screen is protected by high-quality glass that is scratch-resistant.
There are no standard touch control buttons. Above the screen are:
- front LED;
- conversational microphone;
- 5 MP camera;
- panel of missed events.
The back of the model is made of metal with plastic inserts. At the back there is a 12 MP main camera, a fingerprint scanner and a flash.
The cover of the product is supplemented with the MI brand logo. The Xiaomi brand decided to supply the device in two versions of built-in memory - 16 and 32Gb. If you download a standard application, the difference in the performance of the solutions is very noticeable.
The volume control carriage, power button, and hybrid tray for two SIM cards are located on the side. The device is carefully opened with a paper clip, after which the Sim or drive is installed.
The device can simultaneously work with two cards or with one operator and microSD. The model supports the network in 2G, 3G and 4G standards.
How to insert a SIM card into a xiaomi phone
A set of communications makes operation easier for the owner. The budget model does not have an NFC payment system. GLONASS, GPS and BeiDou will help with navigation.
The smartphone has excellent sound from the speakers at maximum volume. The built-in audio path improves tonality and eliminates unpleasant rattling and distortion. You can insert headphones into a special jack, and connect portable speakers via Bluetooth.
Before you connect your Xiaomi Redmi 5 phone to your computer via a USB cable, you need to select a function in the menu.
The operating system picks up user actions on the fly, so there is no need to install applications. If the PC is connected to the Internet, the online installer will select a driver for the device.
The fast viewfinder does not lose functionality in low light conditions. If you shoot at dusk, the detail of objects in the photo decreases and small noises appear. In bright sunshine, the technology will give you a high-quality, juicy picture.
The battery can last 36 hours under average load. Modern software optimizes application performance to reduce energy costs. The downside of the device is that the battery is not removable, so when replacing it with a new one, you will have to disassemble the device.
