How to take a screenshot on an LG phone using keys
Of course, LG smartphones are no exception. They are based on the Android operating system, where the screenshot function is already built into the OS.
The easiest way to take a screenshot involves using the device's physical buttons. This method is very popular because it does not require complex actions on the part of the device owner, and the screen is saved literally in a split second.
LG uses a combination of the volume down button and the power key. Both buttons must be pressed simultaneously when the user is on the desired screen.
Please note that on some LG models (for example, LG G5), the physical buttons are located not on the side, but on the back of the device.
If the operation is successful, the user will hear a characteristic sound signal, and a screenshot thumbnail will remain on the screen for a couple of seconds. This is evidence that a screenshot has been taken and saved in the device memory.
The best screenshot apps for Android
Key combinations may not work, and the basic capabilities of the Android OS are limited. Screenshot applications complement the standard functionality thanks to editing.
We advise you to download and test several applications: not all of them work on a certain version of Android, some will require root access, the free version may contain advertising, etc.

How to take a screenshot on an LG phone through the notification panel
Taking a screenshot using physical keys is not the only way to take a screenshot. The developers of the operating system have been thinking for a long time about how else they could integrate the function into smartphones under their control, and ultimately settled on using the notification panel.
The notification panel is a special menu present on LG and phones of other brands, in which all notifications that have been received by the user are displayed. In addition, in this section of the menu there are buttons for activating a variety of functions. For example, connecting to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and switching to silent mode.
The number and type of icons for activating additional features directly depends on the device model. But the screenshot button in the LG notification panel is always present. True, in some cases it must first be activated through the settings. Therefore, it is recommended to perform the following operation:
- Open your smartphone settings.
- Go to the section for changing screen settings.
- Activate the Capture+ or Quick Memo+ option depending on the device model.
Now you will be 100% sure that the screenshot function will appear in the notification panel. After completing the preliminary setup, you can proceed to the main action, which allows you to take a screenshot:
- Open the smartphone menu that you want to screenshot.
- Lower the notification shade by swiping down from the top of the screen.
- Press the Capture+ or Quick Memo+ button (depending on your model).
After completing the suggested actions, a screenshot will be automatically created. Of course, you can take a screenshot using physical buttons, but often over time they get stuck and stop working correctly. In this regard, the use of the notification panel comes in handy.
On older LG models, creating a screenshot is available through the smartphone shutdown menu. Press the power button for 2-3 seconds and select “Take screenshot”.
Easy Screenshot – without settings, but with an image editor
Easy Screenshot is a small screenshot application. Supports only rooted devices running Android version 2.3 and higher.
To take a screenshot, hold down the Volume Down and Volume down buttons at the same time. On Samsung devices, you need to simultaneously hold down the Home and Power buttons.
To edit screenshots, Easy Screenshot offers an editor where you can crop the image or add a note.
How to take a screenshot using the application
Thanks to the open source code of the Android operating system, application developers have access to almost the full functionality of the device. This is why you can find a bunch of different programs on Google Play. Some of them are designed for taking screenshots.
Such software should be used in cases where it is not possible to make a screenshot using standard methods. For example, in a situation in which the volume rocker or power button does not work or, by the way, when the option to take a screenshot does not appear in the notification panel.
There are quite a lot of programs that can solve the problem. We will highlight the most popular and stable:
- Super Screenshot;
- Screen Master;
- Touchshot;
- Screenshot Touch;
- Screenit.
All of these applications work on a similar principle. Therefore, we can consider the process of creating a screenshot using the example of one specific program. In our case, Super Screenshot is the only application.
The program has a pleasant interface and is fully translated into Russian, so there should be no problems finding instructions for creating a screenshot. Everything here is done on an intuitive level.
For example, when we launch the program, we are immediately greeted by a large button for taking a screenshot. By clicking it, we are asked to select the section of the smartphone menu of interest, as well as the screen area. That is, you can create a screenshot of only the usable area.
Compared to the standard features of LG phones, Super Screenshot and other similar programs look like a real godsend. They allow you to access a significantly larger number of settings, which will be very useful for people who often need to take screenshots.
Most screenshot programs have a built-in image editor by default. Therefore, you can change the picture without leaving the application. Read about the full capabilities of the program on its official page on Google Play.
Screenshot Touch – record video and take screenshots
Screenshot Touch is a rather interesting application for capturing what is happening on the screen, which stands out slightly from the background of similar ones. To work you will need Android version Lollipop or higher.
Application features:
- Screen capture by tapping the screen (via notification area, overlay icon, shaking the phone);
- Record video to mp4 with the ability to adjust resolution, frame rate, sound and video quality;
- Saving an image of the entire web page in the browser as you scroll (to use the function, you need to open the link in the browser and activate the Screenshot Touch function);
- Selecting a save folder, title format, screenshot quality;
- Delay at a specified interval before shooting.
The built-in screenshot editor offers the following functionality:
- Cropping images, rotating clockwise and counterclockwise;
- Drawing on screenshots – brush, shapes, marks, transparency settings
- Publishing the captured screenshot on social networks or sharing it in other services;
For extensive functionality in Screenshot Touch, the user “pays” by viewing advertising; however, it can be disabled for a small fee.
We advise you to familiarize yourself with the access rights that are required to install the application: they may seem more than necessary. This is because Screenshot Touch has multiple video and audio capabilities.
Where are the screenshots stored?
Taking a screenshot is just the beginning. Every user will probably want to look at the resulting screenshot. And to do this you need to find its location in the memory of your LG smartphone.
Fortunately, no one will have any difficulties with this. Firstly, all screenshots are displayed in an automatically created “Screenshots” album in the LG gallery. Therefore, the user just needs to open the Gallery, go to the album with screenshots and select the required screenshot.
Secondly, the screenshot can be easily detected through File Explorer. To do this, you need to open the file manager and go to Android > Pictures > Screenshots. But in some cases, screenshots are saved to SD cards. In this case, finding a screenshot will also not be difficult, because they are all located in the “Screenshots” folder, only on a different drive.
Screen Master app
If the described methods do not work on your phone or tablet, try installing the application from the Play Store. Open the store, enter “Screen Master” in the search bar and install the program.
When the process is complete, click on the “Open” button and open access to the media on your device. Make sure the “Show floating button” option is active, then enable screen capture and allow the program to open on top of other windows.
After this, you can close the Screen Master window. An icon in the form of a camera shutter should appear on the left side of your smartphone screen. You can drag it around the screen as you wish.
When you need to take a photo, click on this floating button. A smaller version of the image will appear in front of you, and you will immediately be able to perform some actions with the resulting photo:
- trim, crop;
- share;
- stitch with other photographs to obtain a so-called long screenshot;
- save;
- edit: add text, stickers, markers.
In my opinion, this is an effective and easy-to-use program that allows you to capture the screen of a mobile device and immediately process the image.

Screenshot Crop & Share is a simple and useful add-on for Android
A small assistant utility makes it easier to capture screenshots on Android. After shooting, the image is transferred to a convenient editor. After making changes, you can publish the picture on the Internet or share it with other users.
Among the editing functions we note:
- change of size,
- cropping,
- creating notes,
- marking sensitive data / highlighting important fragments,
In addition to the main and editorial functions, it is possible to capture scrolling pages, shoot certain areas and crop unnecessary window elements - for example, the status bar or navigation.
On Android 6 and 7 versions
Pressing several buttons at the same time, which are located on different sides of the display, especially on tablets with a large diagonal, you will agree, is extremely inconvenient. Finally, Google realized this: in the winter of 2015, the developers released an update for Android 6.0, which allows you to take screenshots with one touch. The new feature is called "Google Now on Tap" and is located in the "Share" menu, which is opened by long pressing the "Home" button.
Images obtained using Google Now on Tap differ from those taken using the standard (universal) method in that they do not have notification and navigation panels. This is convenient: if you take a screenshot, for example, for a blog post, you don’t have to crop it.
