• a ready-made file with firmware in .zip or .tar format (in the instructions we will assume that you have already downloaded the firmware and you do not need to find it).

Be very careful when downloading firmware on the Internet . They may contain viruses, both for the phone and for the computer, be of poor quality (they will be very buggy) or even permanently turn your device into a brick. Therefore, read reviews, look for links only on trusted sites and think 100 times before downloading custom firmware on the Internet!

Please also note that the items listed above ( phone and cable ) are initially located separately from each other. You should not connect the device to the computer before performing all the procedures, you should not launch any mode or do anything at all. We will describe everything in detail in the instructions!

It's not an easy task, but it's quite doable.

How to find and download firmware for Samsung?

• Unpack the downloaded archive with the program into a folder and run the program.
• In the “Model” , enter your model code (you can find it on the smartphone packaging, in the instructions, or under the battery. For example, SM-G930F, etc.).
• In the “Region” the CSC region code you need , for example, BTU or some other.

What is a CSC region and how to find it?

The CSC code is used in Samsung phones to determine the country where the phone was sold and the firmware language. To find out which firmware version you need, you should check the code under the phone battery. It can also be found in the table below.

Method No. 1. Install the firmware using the official Samsung method

On the official website of the Samsung company there is information about two types of firmware for the Galaxy. The first of them is called FOTA and differs in that it is installed without a computer. The second one is called Smart Switch and, as you already understood, is installed using a computer.

Step 3. Next, the operating version will independently check if there is a newer version of the official software. If so, you will be prompted to download and install it. All you have to do is agree to this offer and follow further instructions on the screen. First you just need to tap on the “Install” sign.

How to flash via Smart Switch?

Here's how flashing occurs via Smart Switch (remember, this is also the official method):

• First you need to download the specified program to your computer and install it. The best and safest way to do this is from the official website samsung.com. Everything is standard - launch the SmartSwitch.exe shortcut , agree to the license, click “Next” several times and you’re done!
• Launch Smart Switch and use a USB cable to connect your device to your computer.
• When the phone is identified by the program, it will immediately check for new software versions. If they are found, you will see a prompt to install them. To do this, simply click on the “Update” button.

Attention! It happens that the user knows for sure that there is new firmware, but for some reason it does not want to be installed on his smartphone (it is not detected). It is quite possible that the device was brought into your country illegally and is not supported here. In this case, you need to contact a Samsung service center for help. As you understand, this method allows you to install only the official firmware version. It is impossible to install a custom one using it. The following methods will help with this.

2. Download TWRP.
3. Open the backup section to save the current firmware.

What should you know after flashing?

Samsung, in its official manual (instructions) for upgrading the operating system, recommends resetting the data after such manipulations. Otherwise, Samsung warns of possible system failures. This will not necessarily happen to your gadget, but you can take it into account when you discover such problems in future work with your phone.

However, it is worth remembering that before resetting it is important to save all existing data: photos, contacts, videos, music, documents.
