  1. It’s worth starting by inspecting the packaging material. For a fake, it will be wrinkled and will not have a serial number.
  2. If you do find the serial number, it will simply be printed on a sticker that is not in the original.
  3. All the fake fonts will be a little blurry.

Check by serial number

Sometimes IMEI is not enough to verify the authenticity of the device. In this case, the serial number should be used. You can find it out in the same ways as IMEI: look on the box or through the operating system settings menu. The USSD code for determining the serial number is #0001#. Once you know the three combinations, check them. For the original devices, everything is the same.

In addition, the serial number allows you to find out the model of the gadget and for which market the phone was released. This is determined depending on the characters and their sequence in the overall combination:

  • L at the very beginning of the code says that your Meizu belongs to this particular line of the manufacturer.
  • If the number starts with 91, then the gadget belongs to the M series.
  • If 91 is immediately followed by the letter Q, the phone was released for the domestic Chinese market and does not have international firmware.
  • If H comes after 91, it means a gadget with international firmware, created for export.

Note! On new Meizu models, both the IMEI and serial number are indicated on a special sticker on the rear panel. If your gadget does not have it, most likely it is a fake or used device.

By appearance

The easiest way to determine what kind of phone you have is to carefully examine its body. Even if the gadget does not turn on, its screen is broken or it is locked, you can check which series the device belongs to by its distinctive features.

  • M Note – a line of phablets with very large and bright displays, also distinguished by the bright colors of the rear panel;
  • U – series with a reliable aluminum case, it includes expensive fashion devices;
  • M Mini – compact devices, smaller than standard M flagships;
  • M – basic series (M2, M3, M5, M6, etc.), characterized by a streamlined body and bright colors.

However, external characteristics are not enough to more accurately recognize the Meizu model. To do this, you need to use the operating system - we will describe this method below.

Why might this be needed?

The check will allow you to find out whether you have an original Meizu model in your hands or not. The disadvantages of using a “gray” phone are that it has a Chinese (“left”) version of the firmware. Official Flyme services ( account, cloud and lost phone search ) will not be supported on such a device.

If your smartphone is stolen, you can block it quickly by informing mobile operators of your IMEI.

In this case, the device will become a useless brick until you unlock it. An attacker will not be able to use it by installing any SIM card.

Method 3: Identify a fake Meizu when linking a smartphone to a Flyme account

The last method that allows you to definitely determine the authenticity of a Meizu smartphone. The official version of the phone always has the Flyme OS operating system installed. A “pirated” phone will have a third-party version of the operating system. The device will be able to bind to Flyme services and successfully pass authorization only if the operating system is original.

Via IMEI

IMEI is a unique combination of characters that identifies a device in the international classification of mobile devices. Only original smartphones have this code, so by checking it, you can easily identify a fake.

There are several ways to find out IMEI:

  1. Through the phone menu.
  2. By sending a USSD request.
  3. Through the information on the gadget box.

Device menu

We proceed as follows:

  1. Open the system application “Settings”.
  2. Go to the “About phone” section.
  3. Click on the “Status” tab.
  4. Select the item “IMEI Information”.

A new window will indicate one or two codes that identify your gadget. The quantity depends on the number of lots for SIM cards.

USSD code

In this case, the algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. Launch the “Phone” application.
  2. In the dialing menu, enter the combination #06#.
  3. Press the call button.

After this, you will receive an SMS message containing your IMEI.

Box

For all Meizu models, the IMEI is indicated on the back of the smartphone box. The combination can be viewed above the barcode along with the MEID number and serial number. Another way to check the authenticity of the model is to compare the IMEI, which is displayed in the settings menu and which is indicated on the box.

After we have found out Meizu’s unique identification number, we need to check it through an international classifier. This is done like this:

  1. Go to the official website of the classifier using the link: https://www.imei.info
  2. In the empty column, enter the IMEI of your gadget.
  3. Confirm the captcha.
  4. Click on the “Check” button to start the check.

Is it possible to track Meizu's phone?

Log in to the system using your Flyme account. Once in your personal account, select the device you want to find. If it is currently connected to the Internet, you will be able to control it. In the next window, click “Find phone”

PRO line

In 2014, Meizu changed its habits and, instead of one expected MX, introduced two models at once: Meizu MX4 and MX4 Pro. As stated above, the MX4 received a powerful (but, as it turned out, power-hungry) eight-core MediaTek MT6595 processor. The MX4 Pro received a larger screen (5.5 inches 2560x1536 versus 5.36 inches, 1920x1152), a more powerful Exynos 5 Octa 5430 processor, 3 GB of RAM and a fingerprint scanner (a first for Meizu). The touch-sensitive LED ring below the screen, which served as the home button and LED indicator, has been replaced with a touch-sensitive button that acts as a fingerprint scanner. A similar solution (in an improved and modified form) is now used in Meizu smartphones of all lines.

In the next flagship they decided to abandon MX in the name and left simply “PRO”, with an index of 5. The subsequent flagship received the logical name PRO 6. In terms of characteristics, there are fewer regularities. More precisely, there is only one: this is the flagship model at Meizu. Smartphones are equipped with metal cases and good music content; there is little else that is similar: there is no connection to the screen diagonal; inside there can be either top-end Exynos or MediaTek. At the time of its release, PRO 5 was one of the most powerful smartphones on the market, PRO 6 is not nearly equal to modern flagships. The next pro (according to rumors) will be very close in characteristics to the current Samsung flagships.

Subtleties in the software

Many companies equip smartphones with proprietary firmware. For example, Xiaomi gadgets run on MIUI, Meizu on Flyme, and Samsung are equipped with TouchWiz. If, when purchasing a Xiaomi device, instead of MIUI, a different interface is pre-installed or there is none at all, it’s worth thinking about. The software of the original smartphone usually works smoothly and stably, but Chinese analogues may slow down and display ads.

Another important point that is worth thinking about is the translation of the interface. Typically, manufacturers are sensitive to such trifles, and the creators of fakes pay little attention to this, which is why the phrases turn out to be clumsy. For example, the phrase “Swipe the screen to unlock” can be translated as “Swipe the screen to unlock.” Typical automatic translation in AliExpress style.

To make sure that the smartphone is original, you need to go to the settings and carefully study the data about the gadget’s software. If necessary, it can be checked against the data that should be on the original device.

Why find out your phone model

In some situations, you may need a gadget model. Usually, determining the mobile model is important to understand whether you are holding an original phone or a copy. Non-original smartphones work extremely unstable, can periodically glitch, and cause the owner a lot of other troubles.

The service center will not repair a non-original device simply because it is fake. The device cannot be guaranteed after repair. That is why service center companies do not deal with such problematic gadgets. Therefore, checking the device model is important.

Smart Home Products

Huawei and Honor release lines of smart home gadgets:

  • video cameras with access to the street;
  • electrical appliances for lighting;
  • air conditioners and heaters;
  • scales and other equipment.

You will find all information about the product on the packaging and on a special sticker. Keep in mind that the sticker may be in the most inconspicuous place.

What is unlocking

Unblock Meizu

Unlocked. This word is used many times on mobile technology websites. And most people who are somehow involved in the mobile world are sure that unlocking is good.

But is this really so? And what dangers are hidden behind custom unlocking? Is it possible to damage a smartphone irrevocably?

What is a "brick"? There were too many questions, which means it was time to sort them out.

For many of us, the words “unlocked bootloader” conjure up thoughts of wonderful, distant lands where unicorns play Half-Life 3 around a campfire at night. Or something similar.

That is, it is completely different from what this process is actually connected with.

An unlocked bootloader is important for those of us who want to change programs that have been installed on a smartphone.
