Despite the fact that I don’t download new applications to my smartphone very often, I still go to Google Play one way or another. I do this not to look for something new, but rather to make sure that everything remains the same. For some time now, I have developed a mania to check whether I was forcibly subscribed to some service, as often happens on Google Play, against my will. To do this, I go to the side menu, and from there I open the section with subscriptions. But today I didn't find it. Let's figure out what's going on.
There is no longer a side menu on Google Play
And you say Google Play! How the App Store turned into a dangerous cesspool
I managed to discover the loss of not only the subscriptions section, but also the side menu itself, completely by accident. I just opened Google Play, poked out of habit in the upper left corner, where the button with three horizontal stripes was usually located, but nothing happened. It just turned out that there was no button there anymore.
How to restore the play market if you accidentally deleted it
Hello, smartphone owners who see their device not only as a phone, but also as a convenient device for work, planning the day and entertainment.
You know that sometimes you have to tinker a lot before setting up programs and applications for yourself. And sometimes the user deleted the play market and doesn’t know how to restore it. This task can indeed be difficult, especially if the Google Play password has been carelessly forgotten.
Meanwhile, fans of simple and functional Android today cannot live without the Google Store, because there are a sea of applications there: books, music, films, games, screensavers, calendars, notepads and a lot of other useful things. And today we will look at how it can be restored.
The developer accepts this
Another common reason is that the developer deletes the application. Some developers do this if the app is old, poorly reviewed, or replaced by a better app. They can also remove the app if they think it could lead to legal issues such as copyright infringement.
In one case, an app was removed because it was attracting too much attention for its developer. In 2014, Dong Nguyen, the creator of Flappy Bird, removed the game from app stores and stores. He said he felt people were becoming dangerously addicted to it and he wanted to get away from the media spotlight.
What to do if Play Market was accidentally deleted
Play Market is the original component in the firmware of most of the latest tablets and smartphones running Android OS. When you turn on the device for the first time, you already find the treasured icon on your display.
If you accidentally deleted the Play Store, you can try to install it again by downloading it from the official Google website. Installing the Store will require a number of simple steps:
- A smartphone or tablet must receive permission to install programs from unfamiliar resources. Find the “Security” section in the settings to activate the corresponding item.
- Then open a browser protected by an antivirus and find the Play Market. Moreover, you should be interested in the file with the .apk extension. Further installing it on your phone should not cause any difficulties.
- The first time the app is opened, it will ask for your Google account. And then all you have to do is provide your email address along with your password.
The Play Market is installed - and you can again download interesting and useful applications, tested from a security point of view and conveniently sorted by ratings.
How to recover your password in the Play Store?
It often happens that the Play Market has not been used for a long time, and the user needs to restore not only the functionality of the application, but also the password for the account. The process looks like this
- Launch the Play Market by clicking on the “Login” button.
- And after waiting a few minutes to check the functionality of the Play Market.
- The owner of the device must enter his login - email address or cell number.
- And by clicking on the “Next” button, use the “Forgot your password?” link.
- The system will offer several recovery options. The first is to enter the last remembered password for your account. If you can’t recall anything from memory, you should immediately move on to the next one by tapping on the “Another method” button.
- The second option is to specify a backup email address - an email will be sent to it to restore access to your Google account.
- The third is to try to remember the month and year the account was created.
- Fourth, contact Google technical support by leaving your contact email address in the text field.
- If none of the attempts are successful, the system will notify the user that it is impossible to recover the password in the Play Store right now and will offer to seek help a little later, having gathered his thoughts.
Important: depending on the method chosen by the owner of the phone or tablet, additional actions may be required to restore access to the account - for example, go to the backup mailbox and enter the code from the letter sent by Google in the Play Market authorization form.
Factory reset
If the Play Market on your device is still deeply embedded in the system, then if it is not working properly, do not rush to remove it. Such an action can lead to big problems in the operation of many other Google applications that depend on it.
In this case, you can try to reset to factory settings, but this can only be done if the smartphone is rooted, that is, you have superuser rights. Otherwise, your maximum authority is to stop applications.
But before you reset your settings, be sure to make a backup copy of your Google account.
To reset to factory settings:
- go to the “Settings” menu and find “Backup;
- select “Reset data”;
- reboot your device;
- restore a backup copy of your Google account data.
If resetting to factory settings does not help and the problem with the Play Market is not solved, then the only way out is to reflash the smartphone at a service center.
Decoding Play Market error codes
When an error occurs, the system informs us about what happened. Here is a list of the most common errors and their explanation.
Error 963: Most often occurs when the time to enter sleep mode and lock the screen is too short. Go to the screen settings on your device and increase the lock and sleep time. Less commonly, it can be solved by uninstalling updates and clearing the Play Market cache.
Problems with the Google Play app are common on all versions of Android. In this article we will look at what to do if the Play Market writes that there is no connection, despite the presence of an active connection to the Internet.
If you have forgotten your Google Play password
If you previously provided personal data to Google, then recovery is not difficult:
- From your PC, go to the main page of the official Google website.
- Click "Login". When the “Can’t sign in to your account?” form opens.
- Then enter the email address that was linked to the service and your phone number.
- You will receive a code via SMS, after entering it you will create a new password.
If personal data is not specified, recovery will take slightly longer:
- On the Google home page, now click “I can’t use my phone” in the box.
- To verify your identity, you will answer questions, mainly related to the dates of login and creation of your account.
- And after that, a letter with instructions from technical support will be sent to the specified mailbox.
Compatibility issues and updates
One of the most common reasons for an app to go missing is simply because your device is no longer compatible with it.
If you're using an older device with an outdated version of Android, iOS, or iPadOS, the app may disappear from the store or be uninstalled. The same is true if the app developer hasn't updated it in a very long time. Login to the App Store and Play Stores document at the latest update.
If this is the case, then there is no other solution than to purchase a new device or look for another application.
Frequent problems with Play Market
The Play Market on the device may not launch if Android crashes or the system is attacked by viruses.
Restarting Android may help. Or just reset the Play Store settings and clear temporary memory. Go to “Applications”, click on Play Market. There you can click a button to clear the cache and delete data.
You can also try refusing updates. Sometimes the previous version is more friendly with a particular smartphone. It's not always a matter of imperfect updates. It’s just that sometimes the parameters of a weak device are better accepted by less modified, and therefore lighter, older versions of programs.
If you have problems with the Play Market, you can restart your Google account. To do this, you need to log out and log in again by re-entering your email and password. Then be sure to start syncing.
System failure
If you can’t launch the Play Market on your smartphone or tablet due to problems with Android, you can restore access by resetting the application settings to factory settings - it’s no more difficult than finding out why your computer doesn’t see your phone.
The device owner will need:
- Go to “Settings” again and open the “General Settings” section.
- Find the “Reset” option and tap on the title.
- Select “Reset settings”: in this case, there is no need to get rid of user data.
- Confirm that you want to return to the default system settings and wait a few seconds for the process to complete.
- Next, you will need to launch the Play Market and log in to it using the login and password from your account - now the phone owner can again download programs, games, e-books and music using the official Google source.
Return of the missing Play Market on Android
There are different ways to fix this problem, from clearing the cache to returning the device to factory settings. The last method is the most radical, but also the most effective, because when flashing the firmware, the smartphone is completely updated. After this procedure, all system applications appear on the desktop, including Google Market.
Method 1: Check Google Play Services Settings
An easy and affordable solution to the problem. Problems with Google Play may be due to a large amount of saved cache and various data, as well as a failure in the settings. Further menu descriptions may be slightly different from yours, depending on the smartphone manufacturer and the Android shell it uses.
- Go to your phone's Settings.
Select the "Applications and notifications" or "Applications" section.
Tap Apps to see the full list of installed apps on your device.
Make sure the application is running. There should be an inscription “Disable”, as in the screenshot below.
Go to the "Memory" section.
Click Clear Cache.
By clicking on “Delete all data,” the temporary files will be erased, so the user will subsequently have to log into their Google account again.
Method 3: Download the APK file
If the user cannot find the Play Market on his device (usually rooted), it may have been accidentally deleted. To restore it, you need to download the APK file of this program and install it. How to do this is discussed in Method 1 of the next article on our website.
Method 4: Sign in to your Google Account again
In some cases, re-logging into your account helps solve the problem. Log out of your account and log in again using your valid email and password. Don't forget to enable synchronization first. Read more about synchronization and logging into your Google account in our separate materials.
Method 5: Factory reset
A radical way to solve a problem. Before carrying out this procedure, it is worth making a backup copy of the necessary information. You can read how to do this in the next article.
After saving your data, let's move on to resetting to factory settings. For this:
- Go to "Settings" of the device.
Select the "System" section at the end of the list. On some firmware, look for the “Recovery and Reset” menu.
Click on "Reset".
The user is asked to either reset all settings (then all personal and multimedia data is saved) or return to factory settings. In our case, you will need to select “Restore factory settings”.
Please note that all previously synchronized accounts, such as mail, instant messengers, etc., will be deleted from the internal memory. Click "Reset phone" and confirm your choice.
- After restarting the smartphone, Google Market should appear on the desktop.
Many believe that Google Market may disappear due to the fact that the user accidentally deleted the shortcut for this application from the desktop or from the menu. However, system apps cannot be uninstalled at this time, so this option is not being considered. Often the situation under consideration is related to the settings of Google Play itself or a problem with the device is to blame.
General recommendations
Attention! After completing each step, you need to reboot the device.
- Check your internet connection by opening any page in your browser. If there is no Internet connection or an unstable connection, Play Market will not work.
- Turn your device off and on. Most errors can be resolved with a simple reboot.
- Date and time on the device. If the wrong date is set, the device will not work correctly. This may affect not only the Play Market. Don't forget to reboot your device after setting the correct date.
Clearing the application cache. Open your phone or tablet's settings and go to the list of installed applications. Find the Play Market and click the “Clear data” button, then click “Clear cache”. Read more in this guide: how to clear Play Market cache.
- Reset. This method allows you to eliminate 99% of errors on your Android device, including Play Market errors. But keep in mind that all data that is in the device’s memory will be deleted. Your phone or tablet will look like it came from a store. Data stored on the SIM card (contacts, messages) and memory card (media files, applications, etc.) will not be affected. Go to the device settings and find the “Reset settings” item (usually located in the system section, variations are possible).
- Google services are currently unavailable for residents of Crimea. You will have to use a VPN connection.
What to do if an application is disabled and hidden
On many devices running Android, it is impossible to remove the Play Market in principle, since it, like some Google services, is built into the operating system. More precisely, this can be done, but for this you need to have special knowledge, which the average user does not possess. And all that is possible is to stop the application
Therefore (and especially if you have a Samsung), the first thing you need to do if you deleted the Play Market is to better search for it on your device:
- We look through the list of applications - look for the Play Market.
If you see an icon of one of the specified programs, click on it. To restore the Play Store application on your phone, in the next window, click on “Enable”. After this, the service will appear in the device menu and, if desired, you can place its icon on the desktop.
Please note: if you don’t see the Market, but there is “Google Play Services”, open the menu of this service. There should be an “Enable” button. Click on it, then return to the “Applications” section - the Play Store should now appear in the general list. Run it as above.
Play Market has stopped
Much more often it happens that the Play Market is not deleted from the device, but is put into an inactive state, that is, stopped. In this case, the owner of the phone or tablet will have to:
- Open system settings and go to the “Applications” section.
- Find the Google Play Market item - if your guess is correct, the “Stopped/Disabled” icon will be displayed next to it.
- Tap on the application title and select the “Enable” option in the window that opens.
- If necessary, configure permissions for the Google Play Store in the “Application Settings” field.
Important: if the Play Market was disabled or stopped, you will not need to enter your account information, including your password, after restarting it.
The right way: reset to factory settings
As we have already said, Google services are in most cases built into the OS of smartphones. Therefore, even if you somehow managed to remove them, you can try to restore Google Play Store on Android after removal by rolling back the settings to factory settings.
This is done like this:
- Go to “Settings” on your phone.
- Open the “General Settings” section.
- Click on the “Reset” button and then on “Reset Data”.
- Scroll the screen all the way up and click on “Reset”.
Please note: before resetting from “Settings”, go to “Cloud and Accounts”, open “Backup and Restore” and activate “Backup”. After the reset, to restore the deleted Play Store, you need to go here and click on “Data Recovery”. In the next window, uncheck “Settings”, and then tap on “Restore”.
The most common cases
Deleting all settings and other files related to the operation of the program often helps solve problems.
- Open the list of applications installed on your device.
- Go to the All tab and select Google Services Framework.
- Tap “Erase data” and confirm the operation.
- Next, tap on the “Clear cache” button and also select “Yes”.
- In a similar way, clear the data and cache of “Google Play Market” and “Google Services...”.
- Reboot your mobile device.
There is no Google Services Framework service on new versions of Android.
Resetting network settings
A very useful option in this case, which is not available on all Android devices. To reset the entire network configuration, go to the settings section called “Backup and reset” (may be called differently, for example, “Restore and reset”) and roll back the network configuration to the factory one.
If you have root rights, some applications, such as Freedom, make changes to the system hosts file.
- Open a file manager with super administrator privileges and go to the System/etc directory.
- Make a copy of the hosts file.
- Open it for editing.
- Remove all lines, leaving only “127.0.0.1 localhost” if no other information was added to it.
- Save your changes.
- Sign out of your Google account.
- Remove Google Play and Services Framework data.
- Reboot your device.
- Try launching the Play Market.
Sometimes, instead of logging out of your account, you need to reset it.
Uninstalling updates
Uninstalling the Play Market update also sometimes helps. Go to the list of applications on your smartphone or tablet, select Market, in the window with information about the program, tap “Uninstall updates” and confirm the action.
Restoring a program by installing APK files
Here is another working method if you deleted the Play Market on Android - how to restore the program using files from the Internet download. You just need to find a reliable site from where you can download the required software (you can “browse” through thematic forums and see what people are using).
How to restore Google Play Store on your phone by downloading APK files:
- Using a browser on your computer, find a resource where you can download APK files to install the Play Store or click on the button above;
- Download the files and save them;
- Connect your smartphone to your computer - via USB or Bluetooth;
- Transfer the APK files to the SD card of your smartphone and disconnect from the computer;
- Start installing the program from your phone.
If startup does not occur, you can try the following option on how to restore Google Play Market:
- Install the APK installer program on your computer. For example, you can use InstallAPK.
- Download APK files from the previously selected service and save them on your computer.
- Connect your phone to your PC using a USB cable (this is important).
- Double-click the left mouse button to launch the APK *
- The installer will independently prepare, activate and install the application on the connected device.
*You do not need to first transfer these files to your smartphone space to restore Google Play!
Play Market has been removed
If the application is completely deleted from the memory of the phone or tablet, which is quite rare due to the “stickiness” of Google services, the user will have to download the Play Market again and install it on the device.
Important: any relatively new version found on a trustworthy site is suitable for installation. As an example, we will consider the Apkpure resource, which allows, in addition to everything, to download the best applications for Android without authorization in the Play Market.
To restore Google Play Market deleted from a phone or tablet, you need to:
- In any convenient mobile browser, follow the link - apkpure.com and click on the magnifying glass icon located in the upper right corner.
- Enter Play Market in the search bar.
- Or, if the first option does not produce results, go to Play Store and click on the button on the right.
- Select the appropriate one from the list of results and tap on the title.
- On the page that opens, use the “Download APK” button.
- And wait a little while the online service prepares the file for download. If the process has not started, the owner of the smartphone who wants to install Google Play Market back should click on the “Click here” link.
- By determining where the installer should be downloaded and clicking on the “Download” button.
- In a few seconds the user will be able to begin installing the Play Market.
- Installation will take, depending on the technical characteristics of the phone or tablet, from one to five minutes. It is not advisable to switch to other windows, turn off or restart the phone at this time.
- In the future, the user will need to launch the application and log in to it - and if that doesn’t work, try to restore the Google account to which the Play Market is linked.
Download from another application (for Meizu and Xiaomi)
On Meizu and Xiaomi smartphones, the Play Market can be installed from third-party sources - their OS allows this. How to restore the Play Market on Android by downloading it through a browser:
- We launch an application store;
- Find the Play Market;
- Click on “Download” and perform the steps necessary for downloading and installation.
- Log in to the service.
On Samsung, you won’t be able to restore Google Play on Android this way. But if you still want to try, first disable the block on downloading from unknown sources. This is done like this: Settings → Biometer. data and security → Install unknown. applications → select the browser you are going to use to download → move the slider next to the “Permission for this source” line to the right.
We remind our readers that downloading programs from third-party sources is always a risk. Especially when it comes to applications to which bank cards are supposed to be linked. Play Market is just one of them. Therefore, if you did not find the program on the device itself, with the question “Play Market was deleted, what should I do?” It is better to contact a service center or any workshop. As a rule, proven software is used there.
Apple or Google Remove it completely
The most common reason an app gets shut down is because it violated one or more of the Apple or Google store policies. There are many reasons why Apple or Google might decide to remove an app from their official stores. Here are some of the most frequently cited:
- Content Policy Violations: Both companies have policies that block apps that contain inappropriate or harmful content, promote illegal services, sell illegal products, or put people in danger. Both also prohibit all sexual content, particularly nudity and pornography.
- Intellectual Property: Apps that infringe on someone else's intellectual property may be taken down. This is especially true for games that use characters or settings from popular properties without their permission. To remove these apps, the original IP owner submits a petition to Apple or Google.
- Malware:
Applications that could compromise your device or personal information are also prohibited. Examples of particularly malicious behavior include saving your contacts, uploading your personal information online, or misrepresenting what the app is doing. In some cases, these apps may track your phone usage and sell that data to advertisers. - Non-functionality: This can be the case when the application stops working completely or does not provide the promised functionality.
- Adware: This term describes software with highly intrusive advertising that almost blocks the application's core functionality. Adware violates Apple and Google advertising policies.
- Regulation: Sometimes regulation or changes in the law can lead to the removal of an application. For example, according to Reuters, Chinese regulators recently removed the game Plague Inc from the app store in China.

How to get back lost Google Play
The main reason why you cannot find the Google Play application store on your phone is that it was deleted or stopped, by mistake, inattention, the options can be very different. How to return the missing Google Play Market?
We will offer several options since the case of Google Play loss can be individual for everyone.
Google Play app disabled
First of all, after the Google Play icon disappears, do not rush to immediately download and install a new Google Play; perhaps it is simply disabled and you simply do not see it in the menu. Follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
- Next, open the “Application Manager” (perhaps in your firmware or version of Android OS this section with applications installed on your device will be called differently).
- You will see subsections:
- "Loaded";
- "Started";
- "All";
- Go to the “All” subsection and find the “Google Play Services” application - go to it.
- Activate the Google Play Services application (using the button or slider) - this is if the Google Play application has actually been disabled.
"Applications" | "Google Play Services" | "Turn on" |
After completing these steps, the Google Play application will reappear on your Android phone.
Install apk Google Play
If the previous method did not help, and the Google Play application is not in the settings, you may have actually uninstalled it. In this case, we recommend downloading the Google Play apk installation file.
- You need to download the Google Play apk installation file only from reputable resources, for example from www.apkmirror.com.
- Install the apk file on your Android device. More details on how to download apk on Android are described in our publication.
- Reboot your Android device.
After turning on your phone or tablet again, check for the presence of the Play Market. By the way, there are a lot of reviews that Google Play disappears in Meizu (Meizu). There are also other errors in these Chinese smartphones, for example, the “Add account” message may appear - find out in our special article how to fix it.
Restoring an Android device to factory settings
If the above options do not help you and Google Play does not appear on your device, we recommend that you do a reset to factory settings (you can find out more about how to do this, what you need to know and take into account when rolling back to the basic settings, in our article on exactly this topic).
We will give the following basic steps when returning to basic settings:
- Open the Settings app on your Android phone or tablet.
- Go to the "Backup and Reset" section.
- Then select “Erase everything”, “Reset to factory settings” or “Reset settings” (depending on what version of Android OS you have or firmware from the manufacturer).
- Wait while your Android device is restored to its basic settings.
- Next, after your Android device has turned on again, be sure to log into your Google account.
As a rule, this method saves you in 99% of cases if you have lost Google Play on your phone or tablet.
How to restore Play Store
The material we bring to your attention will talk specifically about restoring the Google Play Store in cases where it is missing on a mobile device for some reason. If this application simply does not work correctly, with errors or does not start at all, we strongly recommend that you read our general article, as well as an entire section dedicated to solving problems related to it. Read more: What to do if the Google Play Market does not work Troubleshooting errors and failures in the Google Play Market
If by recovery you mean gaining access to the Store, that is, logging into your account, or even registering for the purpose of later using its capabilities, you will probably find the materials presented in the links below useful. Provided that the Google Play Store has definitely disappeared from your Android smartphone or tablet, or you yourself (or someone else) somehow deleted it, proceed to follow the recommendations below.
Method 1: Enable a disabled application
So, we are sure that Google Play Market is not available on a mobile device. The most common reason for this problem may be that it is disabled through the system settings. Therefore, you can restore the application in the same way. Here's what you need to do to do this:
- After opening “Settings”, go to the “Applications and notifications” section, and in it – to the list of all installed applications. For the latter, a separate item or button is most often provided, or this option can be hidden in the general menu.
Click on the “Enable” button, after which the inscription “Installed” will appear under its name and the application will begin updating to the current version almost immediately.
If Google Play Market is not in the list of all installed applications, or, conversely, it is there, and not disabled, proceed to following the recommendations below.
Method 2: Show hidden app
Many launchers provide the ability to hide applications, so you can get rid of their shortcut on the home screen and in the general menu. Perhaps the Google Play Store did not disappear from the Android device, but was simply hidden, by you or someone else - this is no longer so important, the main thing is that we now know how to get it back. True, there are quite a lot of launchers with this function, and therefore we can only provide a general, but not universal algorithm of actions.
- Call up the launcher menu. Most often this is done by holding your finger on an empty area of the home screen.
Once in “Settings”, find the “Applications” item there (or “Application Menu”, or something else similar in meaning and logic) and go to it.
Scroll through the list of available options and find “Hidden applications” there (other names are possible, but similar in meaning), then open it.
In this list, find the Google Play Store. Perform an action that involves canceling hiding - depending on the features of the launcher, this can be pressing the cross, unchecking a box, a separate button or an additional menu item.
After completing the steps described above and returning to the main screen, and then to the applications menu, you will see the previously hidden Google Play Market there.
How to disable Play Store
If for some reason you need to disable the Play Market or completely abandon it, you need to go to the properties of the Play Market application, finding it in the application manager, and in this menu click “stop” if you need to temporarily disable the market, and “turn off” if the market is no longer needed on this device. However, problems may arise with some applications purchased through the market.
What can be downloaded from the Play Store
The application contains a large number of different applications for Android devices. The catalog is divided into several large categories:
Home page . All the best applications from the market are collected here. Here you can see the leaders based on user ratings, you can see the top free and paid applications. In the category tab you can watch programs on a specific topic.
- Games – top free and paid games. Games by category.
- Movies – allows you to buy new movies and watch them through the Play Movies application directly on your phone.
- Books – the ability to buy books and audiobooks and read them in the Play Books application. Before purchasing, you have the opportunity to read a short fragment of the book.
- Music - millions of tracks from a variety of artists that you can buy and listen to through the Play Music app.
