The “Not registered on the network” error can appear quite suddenly and many users do not know what to do in such cases. The problem is that it is impossible to receive or make calls at this time, which in turn is due to the fact that the operator cannot obtain the IMEI. What is the problem and how to solve it?
The reason could be either the phone or the SIM card. Let's consider several options for solving the problem. Please note that the cellular operator of your SIM card is not important: Megafon, MTS, Beeline or Tele2.

Change device
If none of the above helps, it is quite possible that the problem lies in the SIM card. For example, it could fail. To make sure of this, remove the SIM card and insert it into another device. If the other phone immediately found the network, then the problem is with your phone. If the second device does not see the network, then the problem is related to the SIM card. The easiest method to solve the problem is to change the SIM card to a new one at the nearest telecom operator office. The main thing is, don’t forget to take your passport with you, otherwise no one will replace your SIM card.
It is better to check the functionality of the new SIM card immediately at the operator’s office and preferably on two devices - just in case.
By the way, at the same time try a SIM card from another operator on your phone, if possible.
"Airplane mode"
The function designed to disable the network must be used first. With its help, you can force the smartphone to find the operator’s coverage again and try to establish a connection with it.
You can find the button to turn Airplane Mode on and off in the quick access curtain, which is displayed on the screen after swiping from the top edge down. When the option is found, you should activate it for 15-20 seconds - communication with the operator will be completely lost. After the time has expired, disable the function. The smartphone will start searching for the network again. After this, you need to check that the problem has been resolved.
How to fix the error
When a problem occurs, the device is unable to exchange calls. After all, the operator is denied access to IMEI. Let's look at ways to eliminate the described bug.
Airplane mode
Initiate a new network search by turning on the “airplane” option. After activation, the smartphone begins to detect the operator again. Pull down the top curtain and click on the silhouette of the aircraft. Or use the settings:
- in the “Connections” tab, click on the “Other networks” button;
- Click on the checkbox next to “Offline mode”;
- click “OK” in the confirmation frame that pops up;
- After 1-2 minutes, deactivate fly mode by unchecking the specified item.
Reinstalling the SIM card
If, after manipulating the “flight”, it still says “Not registered on the network” when dialing a number, what should I do? Samsung presents a radical method, which consists in a primitive “restart” of the SIM card. To correct the situation, remove the drive from the phone, wait 2-3 minutes and insert it in its original place.
Installing a SIM card in another device
It doesn’t hurt to check the SIM card as part of another gadget. If the error persists, call the mobile company and ask to change the card, keeping the old number.

Software Update
Reflash the device to the current version of the software component:
- Having opened the gadget configuration, click on the “About device” button (“About phone”);
- tap on the line “Software update”;
- check new upgrades;
- if there is nothing to download, a message will appear indicating that the latest versions have been installed.
Changing the SIM card of a mobile operator
Your Samsung Galaxy may experience a lack of mobile phone support in a certain region or area. Then insert into the device the SIM card of an operator working in a specific area.
However, be sure to take the previous advice and scour the web for updates before purchasing another card.
Operator assistance
The phone is “not registered on the network” - a problem with Samsung can be solved by contacting the operator’s hotline. Explain the problem to technical support staff. As a result, you will be provided with a configuration that determines your connection to the mobile network. These are APN settings that regulate the amount of information broadcast.
IMEI repair
- after obtaining root rights, restart the phone;
- install the Android Terminal Emulator utility;
- open the software and type the mount directive to find out about the EFS name;
- find the section name highlighted in the screenshot;
- enter the following sequence of characters to save IMEI (instead of Xs, substitute the name EFS);
- to revive the unique 15-digit code, type the command indicated in the image (also in place of the X’s is the EFS name).

The next time you try to make an outgoing call, the user may encounter the error “Unable to register SIM.” It appears when the mobile operator is unable to obtain the phone's IMEI or there is simply no connection. Reasons include: phone software failure, SIM card damage, poor network coverage, and physical hardware failure. Let's figure out how you can fix the problem on your own.
Activating and deactivating Flight mode
Modern mobile devices have a feature that automatically blocks cellular communications and data transmission. A user may inadvertently activate the service, resulting in voice communication being unavailable. The mode is implemented for the movement of users on board an aircraft. To restore the operation of your smartphone, you need to uncheck the box next to the restriction function. The activation button is located in the quick access menu on the device desktop. The location may vary depending on your phone model.
When nothing worked
If the options suggested above have no effect:
- Try rearranging the SIMs (we are talking about smartphones with two SIM cards) or insert the card into another phone. There are no “signs of life” - contact the company’s communication store to replace the SIM.
- The SIM card finds a signal on another phone, but does not work with any of the slots on the main smartphone. A similar result is observed with cards from other operators. This is a motive to contact a service center to diagnose the condition of the device.
As a result, the problem with registering on the network is a common mistake, which is often solved by rebooting the device or rearranging the card. In rare cases, you have to turn to the service center for help.
Results
Now you know why a situation arises when Tele2 is not registered on the network. There are several useful tools at your disposal for what to do if such difficulties arise. If you don’t want to puzzle over the reason, you can immediately go to the operator and ask him to test the SIM card. A specialist can immediately determine whether the problem is in the mobile device or in the SIM. In addition, he gives detailed recommendations on further actions, and in case of a SIM defect, issues a duplicate of it, preserving the number, services and money in the account.
The problem is in the phone
Perhaps the problem is with the phone itself. The question arises - what, exactly, should be done?
It’s impossible to answer the question accurately, but the first thing you should do is reflash your device to a more recent firmware. This can be done either using the phone settings (the so-called over-the-air update), or, for example, using the Recovery menu.
So, you can go to the settings of your smartphone and select “About phone” or “About device”.
Go to the “Software Update” subsection.
Check if there is an update for your device (the check is carried out while the Internet is connected).
If flashing does not produce results and not a single SIM card works, the problem is with the phone and it probably requires repair.
Network type
The likelihood that this solution will help is small, but still some users of new gadgets fixed the problem with the notification in this way.
In order to change the network type to any other, you need to open the settings (to do this, you need to either go to settings from the menu, or move the “curtain” down and click on the gear icon).
After this, you need to click on “Wireless networks” and select “Mobile network” (or “Mobile networks”) from the menu. Next you need to click on “Network Type” and change it. If the network type selection settings are set to “default”, you should change it to select 4G-2G networks. If there are no such networks in the gadget, you can select only 3G-2G.
Remove the battery and SIM card
Most modern smartphones are equipped with non-removable batteries. If the manufacturer has not provided for the possibility of removing the battery, you should go straight to the SIM card:
- Turn off your mobile phone.
- Remove the SIM card.
- Wait a little and then reinsert the SIM card.
Now you need to turn on your smartphone and see if the authorization error is resolved.
Software Update
In some cases, the “Subscriber is not registered on the network” error is associated with the need to update the phone software. The easiest option is to visit the “About phone” and select “Software update”. Then check for a new firmware version; if there is one, agree to the update.
Manually, this procedure involves downloading the firmware file to a computer, then connecting the smartphone and using a specialized program. This action should only be performed by experienced users or service center personnel.
Now you know what “The subscriber is not registered on the network” means and what ways to troubleshoot the problem exist. If the recommendations presented do not lead to a positive result, there may be a hardware failure inside the smartphone and you will have to contact a specialist for repairs.

What does “Not registered on the network” mean?
First, about what happens if the phone does not register on the network:
- A notification window with the text “Not registered on the network”, “No registration on the network” or “No registration on the network” appears on the screen constantly or for a short time.
- You cannot call anyone yourself and no one can call you. In this case, callers receive a voice notification “The subscriber is unavailable or is out of network access.”
- Messages are not sent, mobile data transmission (mobile Internet) does not work.
In all other respects that do not concern mobile communications, the phone operates normally. For example, you can use the Internet via Wi-Fi without any problems.
What does “No registration on the network” mean? For some reason, the phone (or rather, the SIM card with its help) cannot establish a connection with the operator. And since there is no connection, any data exchange (calls, messages, etc.) is impossible.
