Uran
Uran is a modern browser from uCoz, developed based on Chromium.
A feature of the web browser is improved tab management: Uran reduces memory consumption and increases operating speed, even if many tabs are open at the same time. In general, Uran is the same as Chrome: it supports the same extensions, works quickly, and protects against malicious sites. But still, users recommend additionally installing the AdBlock extension to completely block unwanted advertising.
Advantages:
- synchronization with Google account;
- convenient mode and mechanism for working with tabs.
Flaws:
- almost no different from Chrome;
- It is positioned as a browser without advertising, but in fact there is no less of it than on other platforms.

- Select "Allow" instead of "Enable" when you configure options for the Active X program in the Internet Explorer web browser. The Allow feature will allow you to see more information about Active X components before you agree to install the program.
- Contact the website owner directly if Active X components look suspicious or you have never previously had the need to install Active X components on that website. Some popular websites may be attacked by third parties who do so with malicious intent.
- Don't agree to install Active X components from owners or websites you don't trust. Active X components can sometimes contain viruses or malware that can harm your computer if you download and install them.
- Don't agree to install Active X components that don't describe in detail what they will allow you to do when installed. Good Active X components will always give you a detailed description of their goals.
What can cause your computer to run slowly?
Surely, you ran CCLeaner in order to speed up your computer at least a little, in the hope that cleaning the registry would help you. And now, after reading this article, it became clear to you that this is not a solution. And in practice, you are most likely already convinced of this.
So why does your computer run slowly and what can you do:
- ActiveX/com LocalServer32 error in CCLeaner is guaranteed not to affect the speed of your computer.
- If you observe a long startup or shutdown of your computer, this may be due to the fact that the system has a large number of startup programs, that is, those that turn on along with Windows. They slow down your computer, and most likely among them is CCLeaner or its analogues. These programs need to be removed or at least removed from startup if you need them.
- Startup programs load the computer not only during startup and shutdown, but also during normal operation. After all, these programs are running and running and using the computer’s RAM.
- The reason for slow operation may be simple - the computer is simply too weak. Then it is recommended to increase the amount of RAM and processor power.
- In the case of Windows 10, you can observe slow operation if the system is installed on an HDD drive. This Windows is optimized to work with modern and fast SSDs, but it does not work well with outdated HDDs, and therefore, even with a powerful processor and large RAM, the system can sometimes freeze and work slowly. In this case, it is recommended to use SSD drives.
- Your computer may run slowly due to the fact that drivers for any devices are not installed on it.
Many users come across the concept of Active X, but do not know its meaning. Let us finally try to clarify what this strange word means.
Installing Activex in Internet Explorer
ActiveX are specialized components that are separate programs and applications that allow the consumer to create websites of any level of complexity. The ActiveX.com element can only be embedded in one browser—Internet Explorer. To be specific, the component consists of many specific applications that can be launched only in one, previously specified Internet browser. Despite the fact that most modern users of the World Wide Web complain about the slow loading and not the best functionality of Explorer, embedded elements can provide many operational benefits, which is why you need to know how to enable ActiveX.com.
Program elements can be launched in the Internet browser itself
Internet Explorer is the only browser that does not require additional installation. A software product intended for Internet surfing is installed on the user’s computer together with Windows OS. Its advantage over other standard programs is that during operations it uses files that are “taken” by the operating system. The joint work of Internet Explorer and Windows eliminates errors that may occur during the operation of other standard utilities. In fact, this relationship significantly speeds up the work of the web browser, while minimally loading the system.
Before you enable a custom component, you should know that certain files, identical to those used by Internet Explorer 11, help eliminate or correct errors in the operation of the tool. Compliance with this simple condition determines the direct processing of the embedded component codes by the operating system.
Pros and cons of the implemented product
If you install ActiveX.com, the user of the software product will be able to:
- create various software applications in several languages;
- do not waste time on additional installation of many additional applications, since product components can be launched directly in the web browser itself;
- use a huge number of modern components that use this frame.
The main disadvantage of the add-on is considered to be its main advantage, since the programs used in the process of processing codes draw resources from the OS itself. In this case, various errors may appear, which cannot always be corrected safely.
Before installing ActiveX.com on your computer, the consumer should know that this component is often used by hackers and unscrupulous programmers to create viruses with malicious codes.
Installing the application
You can install the component in Internet Explorer 11 in just a few minutes. To do this, first open the main window of your web browser and find the request “Site” in the list of tabs. The user will be notified of the need to additionally install program elements. To add a software product, the user will be shown a place to click on. Next you will have to carry out several simple procedures.
In an open web browser window, you need to find the main menu, which contains the word “Service”, click on “Internet Options”. After this, the corresponding properties window will open. On the “Security” tab, you must press the “Other” button located at the very bottom of the list.
In the security settings window open to the user, a huge list with many different actions will be displayed. In the list you need to find “ActiveX controls” and enable them.
After agreeing to all manipulations carried out by the system, you should confirm everything with the “Ok” button and restart the web browser. A complete reboot of the operating system will help correct possible errors.
Conclusion
Installing the Activex application in the browser is quite simple; even an inexperienced user who is just beginning to understand the operating principle of the OS and embedded components can handle it. It should be noted that Explorer 11 is considered a very effective tool for Internet surfing. Installing additional programs and applications will help optimize and ensure smooth operation.
ADOADO
Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) enable your client applications to access and manipulate data from a variety of sources through an OLE DB provider. Its primary benefits are ease of use, high speed, low memory overhead, and a small disk footprint. ADO supports key features for building client/server and Web-based applications.
Ninth place – Elementary OS
Elementary OS received 13 thousand search queries per month. Distrowatch takes 6th place in the rankings. The Elementary OS distribution is positioned as a fast and open replacement for Windows and MacOS. The distribution is based on Ubuntu LTS and uses the Pantheon graphical desktop environment. The system has a simple and beautiful interface and is not demanding on computer resources. This distribution is intended exclusively for home use.
The distribution is based on Ubuntu, but has one more distinctive feature. In addition to the usual programs, here you can use special programs developed for Elementary OS. The system has its own file manager, player, terminal and many other programs for solving various problems.
Installing plugins in Mozilla Firefox
It is worth noting that the Flash Player
, on which many browser-based MMOs are based, will be available in Firefox even after you disable the ability to install the others.
But users will have to enable PPAPI
format (by default,
the NPAPI
format is enabled, which has a weak security system).
You can connect the plugin in Firefox on the browser page about:addons
.
A feature of plugins in Firefox is that they do not launch automatically. After going to the browser game website, you need to click in the window asking if you need to run the plugin.
Other Internet browsers running on the Mozilla engine - Gecko
– should run plugins exactly like Firefox.
Specifically, these include Pale Moon
and
SeaMonkey
.
ADO MDADO MD
Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects (Multidimensional) (ADO MD) provides easy access to multidimensional data from languages such as Microsoft Visual Basic, and Microsoft Visual C++. ADO MD extends Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) to include objects specific to multidimensional data, such as the CubeDef and Cellset objects. With ADO MD you can browse multidimensional schema, query a cube, and retrieve the results.
Like ADO, ADO MD uses an underlying OLE DB provider to gain access to data. To work with ADO MD, the provider must be a multidimensional data provider (MDP) as defined by the OLE DB for OLAP specification. MDPs present data in multidimensional views as opposed to tabular data providers (TDPs) that present data in tabular views. Refer to the documentation for your OLAP OLE DB provider for more detailed information about the specific syntax and behaviors supported by your provider.
Internet explorer blocks activex
ActiveX for Internet Explorer is a special framework or plugin designed to detect on web pages (servers) all kinds of software components, applications created in various programming languages, and organize their functioning in Internet Explorer.
ActiveX controls have a certain similarity to applets in the Java platform. These are building blocks of client-server programs running in the Internet Explorer browser, interactive scripts for playing animation and video.
Asset X is a unique technology optimized only for IE. There is no need to install the ActiveX control in the browser as such, since it is part of the Windows operating system. By default it is installed with the OS distribution.
From this article you will learn how to enable ActiveX in Internet Explorer (activate) and disable it, as well as how to configure filtering of its elements (prohibit their inclusion on web pages), how to download and install a version of the Flash plugin that supports Active-X web technology .
If the execution of elements is carried out incorrectly (for example, the browser has blocked trusted resources, interactive blocks are prohibited, IE displays the notification “Please configure... ActiveX”), you must first configure the module:
1. At the top of IE, click the “Tools” section.
2. Click “Internet Options”.
3. Click the Security tab. Click the "Other" button.
4. Scroll down the list of options to the “ActiveX controls...” section.
5. To launch elements safely and correctly, make the following settings:
“Automatic requests…” - Disable (to reduce the risk of a virus attack through the use of this web technology);
“Enable filtering…” - Enable (for selective launch, also for security purposes);
“Allow... only approved ones” - Enable (for activation only on trusted sites);
“Allow... which have not been used” - Disable (do not run blocks that have not been used before);
“Downloading unsigned elements” - Disable (also to avoid activating dubious, potentially dangerous objects);
“Download signed items” - Suggest (a download request is displayed).
Explanatory introduction: enough (to understand!) about the subject of our discussion
First of all, you should understand that ActiveX is a framework (software platform) that acts as a control software to ensure the optimal combination of program elements written in different programming languages. The simplest example when you can see the direct participation of ActivX control elements is buttons and other types of navigation elements through which the user makes transitions or activates an additional process in the form of launching the “download” process.
Second example: a video player running on Flash technology hosted on a certain web resource. By the way, the most common “misunderstanding” of the user is expressed in common questions: “Why is the video not playing on the site?” or “The game does not start: what should I do?” can be resolved with a fairly simple action: you need to install the missing ActiveX elements, through which the well-known “Adobe Flash Player” works.
Well, the last thing: the moment of downloading, hidden installation and the further process of data exchange with the client machine, also initialized by ActivX components. By the way, the latter phenomenon (the hidden process of interaction of machine code with the OS through browser systems) can pose a rather serious threat of virus infection of the computer. That is why it is worth paying special attention to those moments when, while surfing the web, an application tries to access system data of your OS.
In simpler words: the web service sends a request for permission to integrate into the browser environment, which in turn can lead to various software problems. Alas, rivalry among people on the Internet, in its absolute manifestation, occurs according to a secret scenario, technologies incomprehensible to the average user. However, you can always protect yourself...
How to configure ActiveX?
So, in order to set the parameters correctly, check the indicated boxes in the following way:
- “Automatic requests for ActiveX controls” - disable to reduce the risk of a virus attack.
- “Enable ActiveX Filtering” - activate for selective launch for security purposes.
- “Allow only approved domains to use ActiveX without prompting”—enable this to activate only on trusted sites.
- “Allow ActiveX controls that have not been used to run”—turn this off to prevent running blocks that have not been used before.
- “Downloading unsigned elements” - disable it to avoid activating dubious and potentially dangerous objects.
- Download Signed Items - Allow prompt to display a download prompt.
These are just the basic parameters that need to be configured. As you may have noticed, there are other, more subtle ActiveX settings. You can also experiment with them, but I recommend leaving them as they were installed by default.
In the end, it’s worth answering the question we asked at the beginning of the article: “Is ActiveX necessary?” On the one hand, ActiveX technology is supported only by Internet Explorer, and most experienced Internet users use other browsers and are not aware of this technology. But if it is vital for you to use sites with this function, then you simply need ActiveX. However, make sure that you have the settings specified above, because attackers use this technology to distribute spyware.

Why do you need the Active X framework?
What is ActiveX COM? It is a software platform whose control elements act as building blocks for programs. With their help, you can create distributed applications that will run in the browser. The result is customizable software that allows you to collect data, view files, display animations, etc. ActiveX controls can only be officially processed by the Explorer browser and Windows OS.
You should know how to disable ActiveX flash player, as this software platform has a serious disadvantage. Because of it, you can mistakenly install malware on your computer: viruses, spyware, etc.
Remote control for phone
Lovers of all things digital will love the ability to control their TV set-top box online, via a mobile phone connected to their home network. The last condition must be fulfilled. You won’t be able to control the receiver via the Internet, since the “Remote” application on your phone requires you to specify the IP address of the subscriber’s receiver.
Almost everyone can download the program. It is available for Android operating systems and can be installed on iPhone. The application allows you to:
- turn on/off the receiver;
- switch channels;
- use the voice channel search functionality;
- work with the device’s on-screen menu;
- log into your personal account;
- manage broadcasts.
After installation, the application will ask for the address of the receiver, which must be included in the local network at home. Upon completion of the data exchange procedure with the set-top box, the subscriber has almost full functionality for controlling his receiver from his mobile phone. The application will be especially interesting to those who already manipulate the TV using a smartphone or use other smart functionality.
Important! There is one unpleasant feature of the software: after releasing several versions, Tricolor stopped supporting it. Therefore, as new functions and services appear, the remote control on the smartphone will be more and more limited
However, using the app for basic control is quite convenient.
ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer
ActiveX controls are some kind of small applications with which sites are able to display video content as well as games. On the one hand, they help the user interact with the content of web pages, but on the other hand, ActiveX controls can be harmful, since sometimes they may not work entirely correctly, and other users can use them to collect information about your PC, causing damage Your data and other malicious activities. Therefore, the use of ActiveX should be justified in any browser, including Internet Explorer.
Next, we'll talk about how you can make changes to ActiveX settings for Internet Explorer and how you can filter controls in this browser.
Story
This technology was first introduced in 1996 by Microsoft to develop the Component Object Model (COM) and Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) technologies and is now widely used in the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems, although the technology itself is not tied to the operating system. Many Microsoft Windows applications, including Microsoft's own applications such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visual Studio, Windows Media Player, use ActiveX controls to implement a set of functionality and in addition encapsulate their own functionality within ActiveX controls to provide the ability to embed them in other applications.
Microsoft dropped ActiveX support in the Metro interface of Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 8. In 2015, Microsoft Edge, the replacement for Internet Explorer, dropped ActiveX support, marking the end of the technology in Microsoft's web browsers.
Problems and solutions
Sometimes situations arise when the following pop-up window appears on the Internet Explorer page - Internet Explorer has prohibited the execution of scripts and ActiveX controls. In this case, go to Menu, Tools, Internet Options and Advanced. There, set the option to Allow active content to run... This action should help.
If an ActiveX error occurs when entering the site, go to Tools and Internet Options, and then Security. After that, set the level to medium. Click the Default button to go to the initial settings. After this, restart the system to log in normally.
What is this error?
For a general understanding of the matter, let's look at the subject of the error itself - the ActiveX component. After all, having understood what it is, you can immediately guess about further actions.
ActiveX technology is a set of special applications that are required to play various multimedia files, plug-ins and flash components in the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. These components come by default when installing Windows (XP/7/8/10)
Currently, even Microsoft has already abandoned this technology, and many popular browsers are actively switching to NPAPI technology. But still, there are still some devices, applications and web servers that request ActiveX activation.
ActiveX controls also include security features that block the loading of unwanted content and applications that collect personal data. ActiveX filters monitor such websites and prohibit downloading data from them, after which the user sees an error notification - “The loading of the ActiveX component was not completed.” This error is most common when visiting online banking sites that contain stock tickers, special toolbars and data entry forms.
Using ActiveX technologies in other browsers
The time when such add-ons were designed only for Internet Explorer is gone forever. Judge for yourself, because today Adobe ActiveX technology in the form of a Flash player is used in almost all browsers and is even, so to speak, an integral part of them.
Without this, it is impossible to imagine using the full capabilities of any Internet resource, be it music, video, three-dimensional graphics, games, online programs, etc.
However, if you look at it, by and large, of all the ActiveX elements and downloadable plugins known today, it seems the most appropriate to use only the Flash player, since almost all other add-ons and elements, to put it mildly, are either simply unnecessary or raise quite a lot of doubts about them security. After all, if you give permission to install a dubious element in your browser, you can only achieve that a security hole will immediately appear, and it is this hole that will be used by viruses, Trojans, worms, malicious codes or spyware.
And the saddest thing is that most browsers do not even have settings for managing ActiveX controls, and the Windows settings used have absolutely nothing to do with third-party browsers. In other words, they do not apply to browsers.

ActiveX component for Visual Basic
The Visual Basic ActiveX component in this example interacts with the Web page script to create an order invoice document at the user's request. The web application can allow the ActiveX component to retrieve the order information for a given order ID, or the web application can package the order information in XML format and send it to the ActiveX component for processing. In both cases, after the component receives the order information, it can automate Word to create and display an invoice document for the order.
The AutomateWord ActiveX component contains one class, the Invoice class, which provides three methods:
- The GetData method uses ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) to retrieve order information in the Northwind sample database. Order information is stored in the m_Data Private-Member variable. The GetData method can be called to allow data retrieval to occur on the client side.
- The SendData method uses Microsoft XML (MSXML) to populate the m_Data private member variable with the order information provided by the caller. SendData expects one parameter representing a DOMDocument object for the order details. The SendData method can be called to send order information from a web page to the component. With this approach, you can use ASP to retrieve server-side data and present the client with an island of XML data that can be used to create a document.
- The Makeinvoice method uses Word automation to create a document that contains order information in a private m_Data member variable. The document stored on the web server is used as the starting point for the invoice. The caller can display the completed Word document outside the browser or save the completed document to disk for later use.

Using an ActiveX component on a web page
In Autoword1. htm shows how you can use the GetData method to allow an ActiveX component to retrieve client order data and create a document.
Autoword1. htm
Script in Autoword1. htm uses an ActiveX component to display the completed document outside of the browser. You can also save the finished document and display it in the browser; However, this requires you to save the Word document to disk. The component can save the document as C:\invoice.doc on the client's local disk. Because the ActiveX component is marked as safe for scripting, the client is prompted to confirm to save.
If you want to display the completed document in the browser, replace the call to Makeinvoice in Autoword1. htm to the following:
In Autoword2. htm shows how you can use the SendData method to send order data as a DOMDocument object to an ActiveX component to create a finished document. A DOMDocument is created from an XML data island located on a web page. For the ActiveX component to correctly process order information submitted by the caller, the XML must be well-formed and structured so that the component can interpret it as order information.
Autoword2. htm
In Autoword1. htm and Autoword2
htm Note that the ActiveX component is created using a tag, not the CreateObject function. The purpose of using the tag is to enable automatic loading of the ActiveX component for users who do not already have the component installed
If the user visits one of these pages and the component is not installed, the component is loaded from the .cab file at the URL specified in the CODEBASE attribute. Depending on the user's security settings in Internet Explorer, they may first be prompted to confirm the download.
NOTE: CAB file included in the AutoText file. exe was created using the Package and Deployment Wizard for Visual Basic. The ActiveX component in the package is marked safe for scripting and initialization, but is not digitally signed.
For more information about creating downloadable components, digitally signing, and marking components as safe for scripting and initialization, visit the following MSDN site:

Maxthon
Maxthon is not a very well-known browser among Russian-speaking users, but at the same time the most popular web browser in China. This is the brainchild of Microsoft, so all the typical features are retained here.
Maxthon is well equipped: the ability to download music, videos and pictures, AdBlock, reader, and the ability to process screenshots. In addition, the browser has a huge library of extensions. In general, in terms of work, it performs its function perfectly and is convenient for everyone.
Advantages:
- the ability to simultaneously view two tabs at once;
- the ability to customize the interface and design “to suit you”;
- understands mouse gestures;
- good speed;
- having your own cloud;
- ability to choose an engine: WebKit or Trident;
- the ability to take a screenshot of the entire page.
Flaws:
- out-of-date design and overloaded with unnecessary icons;
- weak cache level.
Disable/enable filtering
ActiveX element filter - blocks the launch of elements on web pages according to the rules specified in the settings.
If you do not know how to disable/enable the ActiveX filter, follow these instructions: 1. In the menu, go to the “Tools” section.
2. Click the mouse to check or uncheck the “Filtering…” line, respectively, to enable or disable the option.
If you need to allow the launch of elements on the current tab: 1. In the address bar, click the mouse to launch the settings block - the “prohibition sign” icon.
2. In the window that opens, click “Disable filtering...”. After refreshing the page, the part of it that was blocked will be displayed.
Enable or disable ActiveX in Internet Explorer
Now a few words about how to properly configure the use of such add-ons in the Internet Explorer browser.
First, you need to call the browser properties menu from the Control Panel or the service section in the browser itself, and then go to the security settings. At the bottom there is a button for the “Other” security level. Clicking on it takes us to the ActiveX settings menu.
In order not to catch any infection from the Internet, God forbid, you need to disable the loading of unsigned items and the use of elements marked as unsafe. Ideally, you should enable the item loading mode at the “Suggest” level.
How to enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer?
The activation process is slightly different depending on the version of Web Explorer. So, to enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer version 9 and higher, go to the Tools or Settings section (gear sign).
Next, take these steps:
Click on Internet Options and go to the Security section.
Go to Security Settings (Internet zone) and click on the Enable active scripts button in the section of the same name. After this, the Warning window opens. In it, the system asks if you are ready to change the settings for this area.
- Click Yes, and then OK at the bottom of the browser to close the dialog box.
- Click the Refresh button to restart the page and activate the script.
Knowing how to enable Java in Internet Explorer, you can activate the script on all pages. If desired, you can enable JavaScript to run on Internet Explorer for a specific site. In this case, you need to add the resource to the Trusted Sites scope. To do this, go through the following steps:
In your browser, go to the Tools section or click on the gear symbol.
Go to the Internet Options section, and then enter the Security section.
Click on the Trusted nodes section and click on the Nodes link.
In the Add field, enable sites that will automatically support the scenario in the future. If the address does not start with https, uncheck the Require https servers to be verified for all hosts in this zone check box.
- Click on Close, and then click on the OK button at the bottom of the Explorer window to exit the dialog box.
- Click the Refresh button to refresh the page and implement the script.
The considered scheme allows you to enable JavaScript support in the browser for a specific site (one or several).
If Internet Explorer version 9 is installed on your PC, you must proceed as follows:
Go to Tools and Internet Options.
Select the Security tab.
- Click on the Custom Level button.
- In the Security Settings and Internet Zone window, find the Scripts section.
- In the Activate scripts section, select Enable.
Next, a window appears that requires confirmation of actions from the user. In this case, click on the Yes button. In the Internet Options window, click the OK button to close it. Click on Update to reload the page.
Summary
This article shows how you can use the ActiveX component to automate Word client-side from a web page displayed in Internet Explorer. There are several advantages to using an ActiveX component on a web page rather than a script embedded in the web page.
- If you already have Visual Basic code that automates Microsoft Word, you can reuse the code in the browser by converting your Visual Basic project to an ActiveX EXE file or an ActiveX DLL.
- Word is not marked as safe for scripting. Depending on the security settings in Internet Explorer, the Word automation code in the script may not run, or the user may receive a security warning. An ActiveX component is expected to follow certain guidelines, so it may be marked as safe for scripting to avoid these security issues.
- There are several functions in Visual Basic that cannot be used with script on a Web page. For example, one of the features that is available in Visual Basic but not in Web Page Script is the ability to call a Windows programming interface (API).
A typical developer scenario is to provide a web page interface for users to create a Word document using data from an external source or logic. While you can use server-side Word automation to create a document and stream it back to the client, there are many disadvantages to using a server-side approach that includes word automation. The main disadvantage is scalability; Word is a very resource-intensive automation server and is not recommended for creating documents on a web server.
By using an ActiveX component to create a document on the client, you can move the resource-intensive Word automation tool away from the Web server. This is a solution that provides an example of the ActiveX component discussed in this article. Although the example only applies to Word automation, the same principles can be applied to automate other Microsoft Office applications, such as Microsoft Excel.
How to turn it on?
To run ActiveX in Internet Explorer, first log into the browser. After that, take these steps:
go to the Tools menu, and then go to Internet Options;
- go to the Security section;
- select Other, which is located at the very bottom;
- Find ActiveX controls in the list and activate them;
- Confirm your action by clicking on the OK button.
Let's consider another option on how to enable ActiveX in Internet Explorer. Go to the Service section and uncheck the Filtering field.
If you need to allow the plugin to run on a specific page, click on the prohibit symbol in the address input field, and in the window that appears, click Disable filtering. Now refresh the Internet Explorer page to see the content.

From this article you will learn how to enable ActiveX in Internet Explorer (activate) and disable it, as well as how to configure filtering of its elements (prohibit their inclusion on web pages), how to download and install a version of the Flash plugin that supports Active-X web technology .
Settings
If the execution of elements is carried out incorrectly (for example, the browser has blocked trusted resources, interactive blocks are prohibited, IE displays the notification “Please configure... ActiveX”), you must first configure the module:
Note. By default, Internet Explorer has optimal filtering settings.
1. At the top of IE, click the “Tools” section.
2. Click “Internet Options”.
3. Click the Security tab. Click the "Other" button.
4. Scroll down the list of options to the “ActiveX controls...” section.
5. To launch elements safely and correctly, make the following settings:
“Automatic requests…” - Disable (to reduce the risk of a virus attack through the use of this web technology);
“Enable filtering…” - Enable (for selective launch, also for security purposes);
“Allow... only approved ones” - Enable (for activation only on trusted sites);
“Allow... which have not been used” - Disable (do not run blocks that have not been used before);
“Downloading unsigned elements” - Disable (also to avoid activating dubious, potentially dangerous objects);
“Download signed items” - Suggest (a download request is displayed).
Note. This article covers only the basic options. There are other options in the list for fine-tuning the functioning of ActiveX.
Attention! If you are not sure that you have set the settings correctly, you can reset the settings. To do this, in the “To level” line, set the level of special parameters (for example, “High”) and click “Reset”
ActiveX element filter - blocks the launch of elements on web pages according to the rules specified in the settings.
If you don't know how to disable/enable the ActiveX filter, follow these instructions:1. In the menu, go to the “Service” section.
2. Click the mouse to check or uncheck the “Filtering…” line, respectively, to enable or disable the option.
If you want to allow elements to run on the current tab:1. In the address bar, click the mouse to launch the settings block - the “prohibition sign” icon.
2. In the window that opens, click “Disable filtering...”. After refreshing the page, the part of it that was blocked will be displayed.
What is the difference between Java and Active X
In principle, above we looked at the main differences between the platform and java applets. The fact is that solving many problems using Java would require the developer to exert enormous effort, while with the help of Active X technology everything can be solved much faster.
Another difference of this technology is that the role of ActiveX on a Java virtual machine will be performed by any Java utility. It will be both open independently and at the same time serve as one of the components for the platform.
