Tutorial video on installing Windows on an Acer
The first step is to save all important data from your computer's hard drive. The second step is to create a boot device if you do not have a disk with the OS distribution. Also make sure you have the software you need.
Important: if you doubt your actions, you should contact Acer laptop repair professionals.
Flash drives have long replaced disks, and in the case of the Acer Aspire, a flash drive will be an ideal option. Create a Windows image on removable media and proceed directly to the procedure.
Step-by-step instructions for installing Windows
- Insert the flash drive into the device and only then turn on the laptop. Most likely, you will encounter a UEFI BIOS, so do not rush to go to the boot device selection menu (the flash drive is most likely not there). As soon as Acer appears on the monitor, press the F2 key. This will take you to the laptop subsystem. It is controlled using the keyboard.
- Open the Main tab and set the Enabled value next to F12 Boot Menu.

Recently I installed Windows 10 on a new Acer laptop, took a photo of the step-by-step installation, and decided to write detailed instructions. This guide is suitable for all laptops: ASUS, HP, DEL, Lenovo, Samsung, etc. The differences from my actions will be minimal. And I will definitely write about them and explain everything.
I installed Windows 10 on a laptop from a USB flash drive. It's just that my Acer laptop didn't have a CD/DVD drive. Now this is normal. Fewer and fewer laptops have a CD drive. They definitely don't exist on netbooks. The installation process from a flash drive itself is practically no different from installing an operating system from a DVD. This means that it doesn’t matter what manufacturer your laptop is, whether it’s new or the OS was already installed on it, no matter what drive you install from - following my instructions you will definitely succeed. We will look at the process from burning a Windows 10 image to a disk or flash drive until the desktop appears.
How to install Windows 7 from a disk
With the exception of some models, reinstalling Windows on different devices is almost the same.
Before proceeding directly with the reinstallation, you need to save all important files from the “C” drive on the laptop. It's good if you have an installation license disk. Otherwise, you will have to burn the Windows 7 image to some disk.
Important: if you are not confident in your abilities, contact Acer laptop repair specialists.
Once you have sorted out the organizational issues, you can begin the reinstallation. Insert the boot disk into the laptop DVD player and restart the device. Before the system starts booting, you need to go into the BIOS. Press the F2 key to enter the subsystem settings. Sometimes the Del key is suitable for Acer laptops.
Using your keyboard arrows, you need to navigate to the Main tab. A window with a list will appear in front of you. Find F12 Boot Menu on the left side and set it to Enabled, as shown in the photo below.
Go to the Boot tab and set the first line to Legacy. Confirm your actions.
To save all changes, press the F10 key. The laptop will begin to reboot. You must go into the BIOS again and go to the Boot tab. You will see a list of devices from which you can start downloading. Find the name of your disc and put it in first place, following the instructions on the left side of the monitor. Now you need to save all changes and restart the laptop.
If you did everything correctly, the device will start loading from the disk, and the following computer window will appear in front of you:
Click "Next" and select the full installation.
All hard drive partitions must be deleted in the Disk Setup window.
The free space needs to be divided into several disks (preferably two), and Windows installed on one of them.
After clicking the “Next” button, the reinstallation process will begin. After its completion, you will need to come up with a username and password, as well as configure the basic parameters of the computer system. Don't forget to change the Boot settings in the BIOS the first time you reboot your device.
