Setting up and adjusting the microphone on Android OS through the engineering menu

How to turn on the microphone on a Huawei and Honor phone? This question rarely bothers users, since all smartphone sensors work by default and do not require additional activation or configuration. But sometimes a serious malfunction occurs in the device, requiring the intervention of the gadget owner. In such situations, 2 developments are possible:

  • Cleaning your phone and adjusting the microphone will help you cope with difficulties;
  • If these steps do not help achieve success, you will have to replace the parts.

But before repairing, it is recommended to think about why the problem occurred.

Where is the microphone of Honor and Huawei?

Finding the microphone on Huawei devices is not difficult. To do this, just take a closer look at the phone’s body and find characteristic elements. Typically, the necessary detail is located at the bottom so that interlocutors can hear the user during conversations and various applications and services can be used without difficulty. But the exact location depends on the smartphone model, so before searching for the desired sensor, it is recommended to study the instructions received when purchasing the phone. This approach will significantly speed up the search.

  3. Go to the Phone or Call tab and install the previously downloaded utility (such as Drupe) as the managed software.
  4. Restart your mobile device for the changes to work correctly.

The speaker should now work normally for incoming and outgoing calls.

How to enable microphone on Honor and Huawei?

The question of how to enable the microphone on Honor and Huawei does not make sense, since it is enabled by default. But the user could:

  • disable it in the settings of various programs and applications;
  • drop your smartphone into water;
  • Do not clean the device from dust and dirt for a long time;
  • The update was installed incorrectly.

Also, sometimes troubles are caused by malfunctions or errors by developers who created a low-quality update, due to which some of the smartphone’s functions do not work. Other causes of problems are extremely rare.

Troubleshooting

If the microphone on Android does not work after exposure to moisture or mechanical impact, then it is unlikely that you will be able to fix it on your own. It is much more realistic to deal with clogging and software errors.

One of the symptoms of a clog is that the microphone may partially work, but the sound is greatly distorted, so that the other person can hear almost nothing. If you encounter such a problem, blow out and carefully clean the small hole in the housing, which acts as a sound trap. Do not apply serious force, otherwise you may damage the microphone.

If cleaning does not help, but you are sure that there are no hardware problems, use software troubleshooting methods:

  1. Open settings and reset.
    Please back up your data before rolling back as it will be deleted. Turn on contact synchronization, transfer photos and videos to a memory card or computer. Increase
  2. Reflash the device.

Use official or proven custom firmware to eliminate conflicts between the system and hardware.

Settings

The only way to adjust the sound volume and microphone sensitivity is to use the engineering menu. To call it you will have to:

  1. dial a special command on your phone *#*#3646633#*#*;
  2. press the call button;
  3. wait for the special settings menu to appear and view Android options.

In the window that opens, you need to find the audio and mic tabs and change the operating parameters in them. Usually you need to specify value – 220, level – 6, but sometimes the optimal parameters turn out to be different, so it is likely that the owner of the gadget will have to experiment.

Turn on the microphone on the tablet

The process of turning on the microphone on the tablet is no different from that described. Users will have to open the engineering menu and adjust the volume and sound level settings there. It should be emphasized that depending on the model of phone and tablet, the appearance of the menu may vary. Also, in the latest versions of Android, developers have limited the functionality of the service, so not all people will be able to use it. In such cases, it is recommended to download special applications that help control microphones.

Sound - solving sound problems on Android devices

17.05.2021

  • Android app Sound, version: 2.6.7.2, price: Free

Surely, at least sometimes, problems arise on your devices that you would like to fix without resorting to various complex methods. Unfortunately, this is not always possible, but, for example, some difficulties with sound playback on Android devices can be easily solved by simply installing the application, although not all users know about this. One day I found such an application while I was looking in a search engine for ways to solve my problems.

In this review we will talk about the Sound software, which some may remember under the old name - AudioRoutingSettings, which even better reflected the essence of the application (it is already more or less clear that this is a kind of sound router, and not just software that displays information about the sound capabilities of an Android device). Even though the name has changed, the application has not become any worse - on the contrary, additional functionality has appeared.

In what cases can the application be useful? I don’t think I can list all the use cases; I’ll only tell you about the most common and known to me.

Imagine a situation where your Android device refuses to recognize headphones, speakers, or it does not transmit sound to the car radio when connected to AUX. Dancing with a tambourine does not help, and the sound continues to come through the ringing speaker of your device. There are probably no universal ways to solve the problem, and it’s not always possible to fix the situation, but you can try installing Sound, and after some simple setup, the sound will probably come through gadgets that didn’t work with your Android device before.

Similar troubles can await you, for example, when installing custom firmware - sometimes headsets stop working or sound comes from both speakers and headphones at the same time. Therefore, now there are firmwares in which Sound is already pre-installed - this is understandable, because it is easier for the user, especially if the problem cannot be solved otherwise.

Or another case: something unpleasant happens to the 3.5 connector, which leads to its breakdown (although it is possible that it’s all a matter of firmware and not hardware), as a result of which the device thinks that headphones are inserted into it. Naturally, the sound is not reproduced through the speakers, which may even force the user to send the device for repair. This, of course, is sometimes desirable to do, but it is not at all necessary if it is possible to install Sound.

Another feature of the application is to turn on the sound through the headset, but while using the microphone of the Android device (in the Wired set setting/Wired set microphone menu). This option will also be useful to someone, because sometimes the microphones in headsets are not of the best quality, and modern smartphones can have several microphones installed at once with an excellent noise reduction system.

As you can see, a software can always come in handy, especially since sometimes, after the necessary settings, it can be removed altogether. But personally, I keep it in the system just in case.

What else could you do? Let's say that my speakerphone doesn't work, I'll end up using the option that allows you to automatically switch to speakerphone immediately after starting a call (Phone call audio/Speaker).

They say that on some devices you can output all sound signals (including music in the player) through the speaker, but I was not able to do this. Softinka kindly warned that this function does not always work.

Or if you want to turn off a wired headset without removing it from the connector, then this also couldn’t be easier to do. In the “audio” settings, select the “Speaker” item, and you don’t even have to worry about the fact that the headset icon does not disappear from the top panel - sound will no longer be sent to the headphones.

The program settings are quite simple (but there are many of them) - if not all, then most of the points should definitely be clear, despite the fact that the official language of the application is English. First think about what you want to do, and then find the appropriate item on the menu. But craftsmen were able to translate the software into Russian - I downloaded the version with a Russian-language interface on the 4PDA forum. I noticed that the application is not very discussed on the forum - only six pages of posts is not much, but mentions of Sound in other topics are already more common.

And this is what version 2.5.8.0 looks like with translation.

There is also a convenient widget that is placed on the desktop, thereby simplifying the process of switching between speakers and headphones - this is its only purpose.

Perhaps the most important disadvantage of Sound is that the free version may expire and then you will have to either purchase the full version for 225 rubles, or use specialized forums, where, usually, everything is free.

A message in the free version of the application appears before each launch.

I will also highlight additional points that I liked. In the settings of a wired headset, it is possible to set automatic playback even after the headset has been removed from the device (usually followed by a pause). Everything works in the standard Android player. Among other things, in the settings there is a bar with which you can set the volume when you connect headphones. This is done by bypassing the standard volume settings used in the operating system.

The text-to-speech settings are also quite interesting. So, you can easily prohibit or allow the playback of background sounds and, thus, stop being distracted by what you don’t need, or, on the contrary, you will be aware of all events.

After experimenting a little, I decided to add to the review an interesting, albeit already well-known, way of using Sound. Surely you know that not all smartphones and tablets can listen to FM radio without headphones connected. So, the software solves this problem by simulating a connected headset. All you have to do is go to the “Radio” application and select “speaker” as the sound source in the settings. It is not always possible to obtain acceptable signal quality without an antenna - it all depends on the device and where you listen to the radio. This can happen on the street, near a window, or somewhere deep inside the room. In order to amplify the signal, metal objects are usually used: without any effort (so as not to damage anything), insert the object all the way into the 3.5 mm jack, and the antenna replacement is ready. I used a pump needle, after which the signal improved significantly, although sometimes the needle has to be twisted in every possible way, thereby sort of adjusting the signal ☺. But some devices (for example, the Megafon Login 2 smartphone) pick up a signal surprisingly well even without an antenna.

Set only one item to simulate a headset.

Before applying the settings.

After.

I don’t even know if the application has direct competitors. I’ve never seen anything like this, and I haven’t read any recommendations about installing analogues from other users. Yes, there are many applications that, in one way or another, interact with headsets and sound, but this is all a little different, so I don’t see the point in listing them. Sound stands out for its capabilities and in some cases it is simply irreplaceable, therefore it deserves the highest rating.

However, it is worth understanding that Sound is not a universal remedy for all ills - for example, on my Android TV set-top box after the firmware, there was no sound coming through the TV speakers, and there is still no sound even after installing the software. But there are wireless headsets, and here Sound can again be useful. Sometimes, to solve all problems, it is enough to just install the application without configuring anything additional. Well, sometimes you have to experiment. Since I mentioned the Android TV set-top box, when using a remote control with a speaker and microphone, users often fail to redirect the sound to the TV speakers. Can you already guess which application can help in this case? ☺

The weight of the application after installation is less than 1 MB, and it usually takes up no more than 10 MB in RAM, which is very economical. The software works even on the old Android 2.1, but problems may occur with some devices, according to the information on the application’s official forum.

  • even more screenshots.

Shutdown

Everything said above also applies to shutdowns. But it should be emphasized that it is impossible to completely disable the sensor; you can only reduce its sensitivity to a minimum. As a result, it will be impossible to hear the speaker, and this is precisely the effect that the user requires. In addition, when using a headset, the connected equipment is automatically used for calls.

How to clean the microphone on an Honor or Huawei phone?

If you have any questions or complaints, please let us know

Ask a Question

If the user is sure that the sound volume is affected by dirt and dust, he should clean the part from contamination. To do this you need:

  • carefully remove dirt from the outside of the microphone with a thin object;
  • disassemble the smartphone and remove the board with the required part;
  • clean it of dust and oxidation.

It is important to emphasize that the latter is not recommended for owners of gadgets under warranty. They better contact the service center. Otherwise the warranty will become void.
