Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 4 NFC is one of the most popular and sought-after fitness bracelets on the gadget market. In addition to tracking active activity, providing vital data and the overall health of the user, the device offers a convenient contactless payment function via NFC.
We'll cover which banks support it, how to add or remove a card, how to pay, and how to use the feature in general.
Convenience and safety
Despite the convenience of using the bracelet as a contactless payment tool, there are also some nuances.
Let's start with the fact that the function is not configured in the most convenient way. Setting up the Mi Band 4 payment system is carried out independently of the phone's payment system. In addition, there is no support from Sberbank and Alfa-Bank (although this may be possible in the near future).
As for safety, here you need to rely only on your vigilance. After linking his card to the bracelet, the user becomes responsible for protecting his data. This is due to the fact that the gadget does not provide any high-tech security system: only a 4-digit password, and there are no restrictions on the time and number of attempts to guess the code.
However, we still recommend setting a password for your gadget: it’s better than nothing. A PIN code is set in the settings of the Mi Fit mobile application, which allows you to activate the locking of the bracelet when you remove it from your wrist.
We recommend that you set a limit on the card you plan to add to your bracelet for spending transactions. If necessary, you will have the opportunity to change the allowed amount.
Mobvoi TicWatch Pro
This model works effectively with Google Pay and Android Pay, it is simple and nice-looking, and also has an impressive battery life.
One of the attractive points that distinguishes these smart watches is their reasonable cost. At the same time, there are also “chips”, for example, two screens that are located on top of each other. The original system saves energy. The characteristics of this device are also impressive:
- IP68 moisture protection;
- in economy mode, work up to thirty days;
- sensors that read heart rate parameters, pedometer, etc.;
- connection with smartphones, music streaming.
How to set a pin code on a bracelet
1Go to the menu item Profile My devices Mi Smart Band 4 NFC.
2Scroll down to the “Lab” line and tap on it.
3In the “Password” line, click on the “Not set” button.
4Turn on the bracelet lock function.
5In the window that opens, enter any four numbers suggested below.
6Reboot the gadget: through the bracelet menu Advanced Settings Reboot.

Terms of Use
The NFC module can be used for its intended purpose only if the device with which the owner wants to exchange information is equipped with this chip. If it is not installed, then the chip can be installed separately.
To use the function of emulating access cards and intercom keys, the characteristics of the chips installed in the passes are required to be compatible with the specific bracelet. The main condition is the antenna frequency of 13.56 MHz, at which NFC operates. The second limitation is the length of the security key. If these conditions are met, the application will count the pass and enter the information into memory.
As an intermediate summary, we highlight the disadvantages and advantages that a smart bracelet with NFC has when used in Russia:
Advantages | Flaws |
Quick connection setup | Small number of payment points |
Low device battery consumption | Manual programming of tags |
Ease of use (no need to enter a code to connect) | A small number of bracelets support Russian payment systems (trackers made in China give the chance to use only Chinese payment systems) |
Secure payment method (the secret key for payment is generated in the payment application and stored on the server in encrypted form) |
Setting up NFC payment
In order to use the NFC function, which allows you to pay with a gadget on your hand, you need to make some settings, namely: activate the bank card with which the payment will be made.
It is worth considering that the card is linked through the Mi Fit mobile software, downloaded from the Russian online store Google Play Store. This is because Mi Fit provided on other APK search platforms such as APKPure or Aptoide will not be suitable for contactless payment in the Russian Federation.
If you do not have Google services on your phone, you can download the Russian version of Mi Fit on the w3bsit3-dns.com forum so that the NFC function for payments works.
How to add a card
1Download and install the Mi Fit application on your phone (if you already have it installed, the version must be no earlier than 4.1.1).
2Launch the program on your smartphone and create a Mi account in the region/country of Russia. In another region you will not be able to link a card.
3Log in to the account you created.
4Connect your Mi Band 4 NFC bracelet (if necessary, wait for the firmware update).
5In the Profile My devices menu, click on the name of the bracelet.
6Find the “Bank Card” item and enter it.
7Enter all the necessary data for your MasterCard into the fields: number, holder name, expiration date and CVC2 code on the back of the card.
8Confirm card registration via SMS or email.
It is important to know:
- When authorizing a card, a confirmation code can be requested no more than 3 times.
- The activation process after receiving the confirmation code is completed within 1 hour. If for some reason it was not possible to activate the card within a given period of time, you need to delete it and perform the binding procedure again.
- Do not close the card activation window during the entire adding operation. Otherwise, a failure may occur and you will have to remove the card and repeat the process again.
How to remove a card
1Launch the Mi Fit program and log in to your account.
2Go to the Profile menu My devices Mi Smaty Band 4 NFC.
3In the Bank card section, find the Remove card item.
How to check transaction history on Mi Smart Band 4 NFC
1Go to the Mi Fit application.
2Profile My devices – tap on the name of the bracelet.
3Go to Bank card.
4Find the "Transactions" line. The last 10 transactions are available for viewing.

The process of connecting a bank card
It seemed that the hardest part was behind us. Now you can enter your bank card details. Enter the number, expiration date, first and last name of the person to whom the card was issued, as well as the CVC2 code.
No one will withdraw a conditional dollar from the card to verify its authenticity - the usual authorization through a banking service awaits you. It seems the process has started:
But even here everything went wrong. I reinstalled the application and logged in with a new account, but it still gives an error. Now the card activation process takes a very long time, and as a result the following error appears:
I'll tell you honestly, this situation pissed me off a little. At some point, I began to feel like an old man who, so to speak, did not understand at all “this Internet and technology of yours.” After all, it would seem that everything meets the necessary conditions: my account is Russian, the firmware is up to date, the connection is stable, and my smartphone is fine - a flagship device, after all.
After several unsuccessful attempts to correct the situation, a wonderful thought came to me. I only have one Russian Mastercard, and it was not possible to connect another one while dancing with a tambourine.
Therefore, I decided to get a virtual Tinkoff Bank card, which is linked to the main account as an additional card. You can use it as usual, but only online or with contactless payment. Having tried to enter the data, the process began to gain momentum again and...
Voila! At that moment I felt as if I had finally earned a million rubles. And here the question arises: why couldn’t I activate the card in Mi Fit? I never found a definite answer and I assume that all the problems arose due to the fact that my card was issued a little over a year ago.
I know what my bank's latest cards look like - they have a new chip and stock design. This is what made me think that the current Mi Band with NFC does not support Mastercard cards released a year ago.
Perhaps the problem was something else, but if this problem suddenly overtakes you, just keep it in mind.
How to pay with Mi Band 4 NFC
Payment can be made even without connecting the Mi Band 4 NFC to the smartphone. To do this, follow our instructions:
- Activate the display by pressing the touch button below the screen.
- If required, enter the 4-digit code to unlock the bracelet.
- Scroll through the menu to the "Maps" section.
- Select the one you want to pay with.
- Click on the arrow to make a payment.
As soon as you bring the Mi Band close to the terminal, the transaction will be confirmed by the vibration of the bracelet.
Important! If the money is not debited within 60 seconds, the payment procedure will have to be repeated again. Sometimes you may need to enter a PIN code on the POS terminal to complete a transaction.
Which alternative can you choose?
If you intend to purchase a fitness bracelet with the option of payment, then take a closer look at the Mi Band 4 Global NFC model, which was recently introduced in the Russian Federation. The special version is currently only available to Russians: it has not yet appeared in Kazakhstan, Belarus and Ukraine.
The wearable device supports Mastercard cards issued by the following banks:
- VTB;
- Raiffeisenbank;
- Tinkoff;
- Rosselkhozbank;
- Promsvyazbank;
- Alfa Bank;
- Opening;
- Credit Europe Bank;
- Yandex money.

How safe is it to pay with the Chinese version?
Based on user experience, there are several arguments why using the modified Mi Fit application and linking your card to it is safe and profitable:
- When flashing the bracelet, the payment system is not hacked, and the card information during payment is also encrypted into a token that is valid for only 60 seconds.
- The Chinese model is cheaper on Aliexpress.

Error 54006: Failed to load data
In the Mi Fit app, the error “Failed to load data” or “Failed to receive data” may appear when linking a card.
What to do:
1Unlink the bracelet from your account. Menu Profile My devices At the very bottom is the Disable button.
2Delete your Mi Fit account: menu Profile Settings Account and security.
3Press the button. Delete account and confirm the action.
4Create a new account in the “Russia” region.
5Restart your smartphone.
6Launch the application, log in to your account and connect the bracelet.
Bottom line
The contactless payment function on the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 4 NFC fitness bracelet works in Russia. You just need to take into account some of the nuances that we described in our article and know how to properly take advantage of this opportunity.
This payment method is very convenient, especially for those users who do not have an NFC module in their smartphone. However, experience using a bracelet instead of a phone when making payments has shown that the process of conducting transactions from a wearable device is not much faster than the procedure carried out using a phone. An awkward moment may occur when, when purchasing a product in a store, you have to present a bonus card from the application: in this case, removing the smartphone from your pocket is inevitable.
But there is one big plus: in addition to the sports tracker, you get the opportunity to pay without a plastic card or cash if you suddenly decide to go to the store immediately after a run.
Despite the existing limitations, Mi Band 4 NFC performs quite well as a means of payment. It works reliably in places where PayPass contactless payment cards and NFC phones are supported.

Apple Watch Series 3
Today, there are different models of Apple Watch 3 smart watches on the market. One is more expensive because it carries a full-fledged LTE module on board. These smart watches with NFC can be purchased from $399. A model without such a module will cost $329.
Design
The Apple Watch NFC has a wide body, on one side of which there is a main button and a special control wheel called the Digital Crown. Its functions include switching operating modes, calling Siri, as well as activating the clock and scrolling through the menu. A more expensive variation of the watch is indicated on the wheel with a special circle of bright red color. At the other end there are small holes for the speaker and microphone.
At the bottom of the case there is a peephole for a special heart rate monitor. On either side of it are two buttons that, when pressed, easily detach the strap from the watch.
Functionality and characteristics
Display. OLED screen with a resolution of 312 x 390 pixels in the larger version and 272 × 340 pixels in the smaller one. Very high performance, as for devices in this segment
This smart watch with NFC works almost without any brakes, which is very pleasing. Using NFC, you can pay for purchases, as well as quickly synchronize the Workout application with a variety of exercise equipment. Continuous heart rate mode now pays attention to the user's arrhythmia. Full LTE module (in a more expensive model). Now, in order to always be in touch, constant synchronization with a tablet or smartphone is not required, which is very convenient. Tracking user health indicators
There are a number of modes for tracking user physical activity. The capacity of the built-in battery is 279 mAh.
