If the screen on your iPhone stops working, there is a chance to fix it yourself. The reasons for such a malfunction can be different: from mechanical damage due to impact and moisture getting inside the phone to system errors when flashing and rebooting the smartphone. Violations during the operation of the iPhone can lead to the following problems: the screen does not show or goes dark, the display module has stopped responding, there is no image on the touchscreen, the touch glass is damaged, the smartphone does not turn on at all.
You need to know the causes of the problem to determine whether you can fix these problems yourself or whether you should have your iPhone professionally repaired.
Display module hardware defects
If the display on your iPhone X does not work , first of all you should check the functionality of the display module components:
- A dim image or darkening of part of the screen indicates a defect in the backlight;
- A white screen without any image indicates a malfunction of the display module cable. In this case, the stand works fine, but the matrix remains inactive;
What does the green or black screen of the iPhone X mean?
If your device's display stops showing an image, the problem may be due to one of the following factors:
- Backlight malfunction;
- Matrix defect;
- Battery malfunction;
- Broken display cable or battery;
- Software glitch.
If the defect affects the internal components of the device, repair will require replacing the faulty component: the matrix assembly or the cable. The exception is problems caused by poor fixation of the cable (if the fixation became loose when dropped) or malfunction of the motherboard elements.
Software failure
If turning on your smartphone is accompanied by a black or white “screen of death”, the problem is caused by an iOS software glitch. “The Death Screen” is accompanied by one of the corresponding icons:
- The Apple logo means the bootloader has failed. To fix the problem, perform a forced reboot or reset your smartphone via DFU mode;
- A spinning circle indicates a failure during the DFU update. Fixing the problem will require a complete reset of the device;
- The iTunes logo indicates an unsuccessful restoration of the smartphone. To resolve this issue, reset your device to factory settings and repeat the recovery process.

What to do if the screen goes blank on your iPhone?
Of course, there are now a lot of videos online on the topic of how to repair any device, including a smartphone, at home. But if you don’t have the skills, then it’s still better to contact the professionals of our service center.
So, if the cause of the malfunction is a sensor malfunction or damage, you need to disassemble the iPhone to solve the problem. And a person who is far from technology, even with such seemingly simple actions, will cause even more damage to the smartphone.
What to do if your iPhone turns off and on by itself
Why Wi-Fi on the phone turns off by itself
If the iPhone turns off on its own, and the above methods did not bring the desired result, the user can try switching to DFU mode. You need to be careful when doing this, as a factory restore will result in the loss of all data.
Note! DFU mode is based on a boot system that is completely independent of iOS. Therefore, in case of a major failure such as a restart loop, it is better to select this mode.
This mechanism allows you to downgrade, that is, reinstall an older version of iOS than the one installed on the user's iPhone. This downgrade is especially useful when an iOS update creates some stability issues due to software or hardware incompatibility.
Algorithm to DFU mode:
- Connect iPhone to PC.
- Hold down the Power key and swipe right on the Power Off option.
- After turning off, press the “Home” and “On/Off” buttons together for 10 seconds.
- Release the On/Off button while continuing to hold the Home button for an additional 10 seconds until the device detects Windows or Mac.
- At this point, iTunes should launch automatically.
- Otherwise, you can open it manually, the iPhone should appear in recovery mode.

Operating system errors
iPhone, like any modern device, has many functions. One of them is direct interaction with the components of the phone. This is done by reading information from certain sensors. But this function does not always play into the hands of the owner. Some software bugs cause the iPhone to turn off on its own when fully charged.
How to fix the situation
The first, easiest option is to completely reboot the device. To do this, you will need to simultaneously hold down the power and home buttons. They should be held in this position for at least 15 seconds. If the reboot is successful, the manufacturer's logo will appear on the display.
It happens that the charging indicator is faulty. It has already been noted that the system works with iron in complete symbiosis. There is an error in which, despite the fact that the battery is charged, the corresponding indicator shows “0”. The system immediately reacts to this by turning off the phone. It's easy to fix the situation:
- We completely discharge the iPhone.
- Leave it in this state for 2-3 hours.
- Then connect the charger.
- We charge to 100 percent.
Another way to deal with errors is to restore the operating system. The process is carried out through the iTunes program (any user of Apple devices has it). After which we get a completely “clean” gadget with the newest (available) operating system. Before restoring, in order to avoid losing important information, you should back up the data in the same iTunes or save it on the iCloud cloud server.
Problems with the power controller
Apple smartphones are devices where everything is thought out. There is a special chip that controls the voltage supplied during charging. The phone's battery is powered by AC power through a special adapter. Before entering the battery, the voltage passes through the power controller (the same chip). It acts as a barrier that prevents damage to the battery. When the voltage meets the requirements of the battery, charging occurs, and when it is higher, the chip is triggered, preventing the impulse from reaching the battery.
If the iPhone turns off on its own , this may indicate a failure of the power controller. In this case, the phone's operating system tries to “protect” the battery from voltage surges.
Repair method
Only service center specialists can correct the situation. The failed power controller will need to be replaced. This process involves working on the iPhone's motherboard, where unprofessional actions will lead to complete unusability of the device.

Checklist for choosing a reliable service center for repairing Apple equipment
Prices
Fair, not overpriced and not underestimated. There should be prices on the Service website. Necessarily! without asterisks, clear and detailed, where technically possible - as accurate and conclusive as possible.
Deadlines
If spare parts are available, up to 85% of complex repairs can be completed in 1-2 days. Modular repairs require much less time. The website shows the approximate duration of any repair.
Warranty and responsibility
A guarantee must be given for any repairs. Everything is described on the website and in the documents. The guarantee is self-confidence and respect for you. A 3-6 month warranty is good and sufficient. It is needed to check quality and hidden defects that cannot be detected immediately. You see honest and realistic terms (not 3 years), you can be sure that they will help you.
Stock
Half the success in Apple repair is the quality and reliability of spare parts, so a good service works with suppliers directly, there are always several reliable channels and your own warehouse with proven spare parts for current models, so you don’t have to waste extra time.
Free diagnostics
This is very important and has already become a rule of good manners for the service center. Diagnostics is the most difficult and important part of the repair, but you don't have to pay a penny for it, even if you don't repair the device based on its results.
Service repairs and delivery
A good service values your time, so it offers free delivery. And for the same reason, repairs are carried out only in the workshop of a service center: they can be done correctly and according to technology only in a prepared place.
Convenient schedule
If the Service works for you, and not for itself, then it is always open! absolutely. The schedule should be convenient to fit in before and after work. Good service works on weekends and holidays. We are waiting for you and working on your devices every day: 9:00 - 21:00
The reputation of professionals consists of several points
Company age and experience
Reliable and experienced service has been known for a long time. If a company has been on the market for many years and has managed to establish itself as an expert, people turn to it, write about it, and recommend it. We know what we are talking about, since 98% of incoming devices in the service center are restored. Other service centers trust us and refer complex cases to us.
How many masters in areas
If there are always several engineers waiting for you for each type of equipment, you can be sure: 1. there will be no queue (or it will be minimal) - your device will be taken care of right away. 2. you give your Macbook for repair to an expert in the field of Mac repairs. He knows all the secrets of these devices
Technical literacy
If you ask a question, a specialist should answer it as accurately as possible. So that you can imagine what exactly you need. They will try to solve the problem. In most cases, from the description you can understand what happened and how to fix the problem.
Openness of the service is the key to mutual trust and cooperation
Social media
If they are trying to organize a convenient service for you, you will definitely find the company on VK, Facebook, Instagram, and of course, on the Youtube channel. Here you can always, in an informal setting, look at the life of the service from the inside, evaluate examples of repairs, and communicate with specialists live. It’s convenient, and now you simply can’t live without social networks
Faces of the company
Apple's seasoned experts and engineers are superheroes, but they don't wear masks. On the website and on social networks you can always see who you are going to, see photos and learn a little about the engineers and service managers. You can write to each of them, suggest or clarify something with someone with whom you have already communicated.
Reviews
You can understand a lot from reviews if you treat them correctly. The overall assessment of the service should be positive and high. But the rating cannot be maximum. Reviews can be both positive and negative, the main thing is that they respond to them, communicate, make decisions, help, that is, treat them like a human being.

Conflicting Applications
There are applications that, when activated, conflict with the operating system. This is caused by incompatibility between the program and the IOS version, which results in the device turning off. There are two ways out of the situation.
- Update your operating system if available.
- Remove the conflicting application.
Some programs require additional hard drive space. An example would be a photo editor that processes an image, saving the result separately without touching the original. When the memory is insufficient, the system may react by turning off the phone. Exit: Free up space on your hard drive or don't use the application.
The iPhone may turn off due to processor overload caused by a large number of simultaneously used programs. The component overheats and, to protect it, the operating system issues a shutdown command.
Why is auto-lock not active on iPhone?
The main reason why auto-lock on an iPhone may not be active is that Energy Saving Mode is enabled (the operating system partially limits the operation of some services). In this case, the ability to change the display lock time will be disabled, and the indicator will automatically be set to 30 seconds.
After turning off the energy saving mode, the parameter will return to its original value (for example, for one minute).
Source
The iPhone gets very hot due to the following reasons:
? initial setup of a smartphone or restoring from a backup;
? exposure to direct sunlight;
? smartphone charging;
? working with heavy games or labor-intensive processes;
? long-term work with GPS.
Current iPhone models rarely overheat for one of these reasons. Most often, a serious increase in the temperature of a gadget occurs under a combination of several circumstances.
For example, while launching games and connecting the smartphone to the charger, when charging the iPhone in a thick case with a powerful power supply, while operating the navigator in direct sunlight.
The operating temperature range for the iPhone is limited from 0 to +35°C; if the internal temperature of the gadget goes beyond the maximum limit, a protective mechanism is activated.
In this case, the following problems with the iPhone may occur:
? The brightness of the display decreases without the possibility of adjustment;
? The performance of the smartphone decreases and it may slow down;
? Charging is slower, and wireless charging may turn off completely;
? The smartphone's flash may not work;
? If the smartphone overheats very strongly, it will temporarily turn off and display a corresponding notification on the screen.
All this is normal behavior of a smartphone when it overheats , don’t worry. If one or more “symptoms” appear, you should leave the iPhone for a while to allow its temperature to normalize.
In the future, you should understand what factors influence the overheating of the device and try to eliminate several of them.

Unlocking iPhone with Face ID
If you didn't set up Face ID when you set up your iPhone, see Set up Face ID on your iPhone.
- On supported models, tap or lift iPhone to wake it, then look at the iPhone screen.
A lock icon will open on the screen, indicating your iPhone is unlocked.
- Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen.
To lock your iPhone again, press the Side button or the Sleep/Wake button (depending on your model). iPhone also locks automatically if you don't touch the screen for about a minute. However, if attention recognition is turned on in Settings > Face ID & Passcode, the iPhone will not lock while the user's attention is on it.
