How to enable active mode of two Samsung SIM cards?

Setting the priority of SIM cards, calls, SMS and mobile Internet on smartphones.

Modern smartphones are equipped with two SIM card slots. This is convenient, since owners of mobile devices do not need to buy an additional gadget for a second SIM card.

How to set up two SIM cards on Android?

Insert both SIM cards into your mobile device, then go to the “Network and Internet” - “SIM cards” section (or “SIM cards and mobile networks”, the name may differ). This section will display two SIM cards, each of which can be given its own name: owner’s name, card type, operator, etc.

What needs to be done to transfer documents to the archive? What needs to be done to prevent windows from leaking? What do you need to do to become a flight attendant in Kazakhstan? What needs to be done before the end of school? What should you do if a shortage is discovered during inventory? What should you do if the dough has not risen?

Why set up SIM cards?

This needs to be done in order to receive calls only on one or two SIM cards at the same time, and also to be able to access the Internet from the selected SIM card, as well as distribute Wi-Fi.

An Android phone is essentially a small computer, so many computer approaches can be applied to it. Namely, the configuration of SIM cards occurs in hardware and software (hardware + software).

For example, if you enable only one SIM card on your phone programmatically, that is, make it active, and leave the second SIM card inactive, but do not disable it in hardware, then you will eventually see a crossed out circle icon on your phone. This icon means that the phone has two SIM cards, but one of them is empty, or rather, it is not in the phone.

The screenshots were taken on a Samsung Android phone and the settings are described using this model as an example.

Dual SIM settings

If dual SIM is supported, you can use two SIM cards in one phone (for example, one for work and one for personal calls).

Note. On devices with dual SIM cards, both slots (SIM1 and SIM2) support 4G networks. However, if both slots (SIM1 and SIM2) have LTE SIM cards installed, the first SIM card will support 4G/3G/2G networks, while the second one will only support 3G/2G. For more information about SIM cards, contact your service provider.

Selecting the required SIM card

You can select the SIM card with which, for example, you want to make a call. To do this, after dialing the number, press the SIM 1 or SIM 2 button.

The phone displays the network status separately for each SIM card. In standby mode, both SIM cards installed in the mobile device are available at the same time, but if one of the SIM cards is active (for example, during a call), the second card may not be available.

SIM card management

Do you want to separate your work and personal life? Or does one of your SIM cards have a better internet plan? You can choose which SIM card to use.

Tap Settings > SIM cards.

Renaming a SIM card

Select the SIM card you want to rename and enter the desired name.

How to switch from one sim to another.

Hello. In order to switch from one SIM card to another, you need to press any number so that it appears in the phone and then switch the button to the SIM card that you need.

Many modern smartphones support 2 SIM cards. After you have inserted SIM cards into your phone for the first time, I advise you to configure each SIM card through the SIM card manager. This is necessary for proper operation and to avoid confusion - through which SIM card to call and access the Internet.

Instructions

This instruction consists of five steps. You will need a special plastic spatula, long nails or some comfortable and soft thin object with which you can pry up some parts.

Step 1: Pry off the left edge of the back cover of the Samsung S4 with your fingernail or a spatula. A special connector for this is located at the level of the main camera and the power button.

Step 2: Insert a plastic spatula into the gap that has now formed and slide it from left to right, unlocking the latches sequentially (these latches are located along the entire perimeter of the inside of the telephone case). At the moment when the back cover has completely come away from the case, remove it and set it aside.

Step 3: After removing the back cover, be sure to remove the memory card from the special slot located directly under the main camera of the device:

  • Lightly press the edge of the memory card until you hear a characteristic click.
  • Remove the spatula or finger from the card - a click precedes the automatic ejection of the memory card with its retaining tray.
  • Once this happens, remove the memory card and carefully place it in a place where it will not get lost.
  • When assembling the Samsung S4, insert it following the steps in reverse order.

Step 4: Pry up the phone battery, remove it and set it aside.

Step 5: To remove the Samsung Galaxy S4 SIM card, press it inward as you did with the memory card:

  1. You need to press carefully until you hear the familiar click.
  2. When you hear a click, release the holder so that it can automatically pull the tray out of its slot.
  3. When the SIM card tray appears completely, it’s time to remove the SIM card from it.
  4. Now you can insert another card into the slot and put the phone back together.

As you can see, MicroSIM is no more difficult to use than the most ordinary SIM card - there was nothing to be afraid of!

Mobile networks

Setting up a mobile network for each SIM card is easy. Settings – Connections – Mobile networks

(the option is not available without a SIM card inserted).

The times when a telephone was an expensive luxury are long gone. Now, most of us have more than one phone.

A classic example of this situation is one phone for friends and family, the other for work.

You just have to admit that carrying two phones is a little tiring (although it wasn’t a burden before, but times are changing).

However, you can instead enable and use a second SIM card (of course, if your phone has a second slot).

Simply put, it allows you to use two phone numbers using one mobile phone - this can be done on Samsung, Lenovo, Meiza and all the others.

Our only solution for a lost or stolen mobile phone

In cases where we need to deactivate a SIM card Because we have lost a mobile phone or someone has made it disappear, the only thing we have is to call the operator from the contact number and explain what happened to request a new duplicate SIM card, and the old one stops working.

Failure to disable the SIM cards in missing mobile phones can result in charges on our account or even more complex situations that no one wants to deal with. In addition, we will not be able to live with two SIM cards with the same phone number working at the same time, so it is inevitable to block the previous one in order to be able to continue when our regular phone number and people can contact us.

Where to look for SIM card management

This can be done using the SIM Card Manager. To do this, tap (open) “Applications” on the main page of the phone (Fig. 1) and go to Android Settings:

Rice. 2. Android Settings

In Android Settings, look for SIM Card Manager:

Rice. 3. SIM card manager

The card has expired

Any plastic has its own expiration date. By default, its parameters for SIM are as follows:

  • they are on sale for 3-4 years (depending on the operator);
  • if the owner purchased the number, made the first call, but does not replenish it, then it functions for a month;
  • If you have already activated the number and topped it up, then the validity period expires one year after the last top up.

If you violated one of these rules, or bought an already expired card, then the operator has already stopped administering it.

Charging rules

The instructions for the Samsung S20 indicate that before first use and after the device has been turned off for a long time, it must be recharged. To recharge, you should use a “original” battery, cable and charger approved by the manufacturer. Incompatible devices lead to failure of the gadget or injury to the user.

How to charge the battery

Violating the rules for charging a mobile phone can cause damage to it, which is not covered by the warranty. Manufacturers recommend using the USB C cable provided in the package.

To save energy, you should turn off “charging” if it is not in use. There is no switch mode switch on the device; the plug just needs to be removed from the socket.

How to save battery

The smartphone settings provide a battery-saving mode. To enable the energy saving option, select the “Device Maintenance” - “Battery” section. There is a function that indicates the operating time of the device and the period remaining until the battery is completely discharged.

In this mode, notifications from some applications may not be received. When you turn on maximum savings, a dark background turns on, all network connections are turned off, except for mobile communications, and the operation of auxiliary programs is limited.

Fast charging

The factory settings include a fast charging function, which can be disabled if necessary. Support for Power Delivery 3.0 standards speeds up charging of the device. One hundred percent is achieved in 50-60 minutes (depending on the ambient temperature).

Wireless charger

In this mode, a power of 15 W is maintained, which helps charge the smartphone in 1.5 hours. This option allows you to use the device anywhere, quickly power the battery for a few minutes of urgent work, which is very convenient.

Phones with 2 built-in SIM card slots

Almost all the latest mobile phone models have dual SIM functionality as standard.

Under the hinged lid you can see two slots in which SIM cards are placed, and we can easily use both.

Nowadays, many devices allow you to use both numbers at the same time without switching from one to the other.

Here I will show you how to enable a second SIM card on Samsung Android 6.0.1, but I only recommend it first - otherwise you may not be able to enable both.

There we are talking about the fact that on many phones only one of the cards can be active at any given time.

Then depending on the phone model you are using, you may need to switch between the two

At the same time, in older phones you still need to reboot it if you want to turn on the second SIM card. Newer ones allow you to select a card from a menu and activate it on the fly, without rebooting.

Mobile networks

Setting up a mobile network for each SIM card is easy. Settings – Connections – Mobile networks (the option is not available without a SIM card inserted).

So, the following options are available to us:

  1. Data in roaming. Enable/disable data transfer (Internet) while roaming. In Russia, not all operators allow you to use the Internet throughout the country, as in your home region (applies to the Far East, Chukotka, Crimea), so it is better to disable the option. I’m generally silent about international roaming - be sure to turn it off!
  2. VoLTE calls – the enabled option improves the quality of voice calls over the 4G (LTE) network.
  3. Network mode. Select LTE(4G)/3G/2G (auto). Those. We simultaneously use 3 communication standards for calls and the Internet. 2G – valid only for calls and SMS, the Internet will not work.
  4. Access points. There is no need to change anything here. The mobile operator sends and automatically sets your Internet access settings. And 8-10 years ago, you had to manually register separately settings for the Internet and receiving MMS messages, passwords and logins, servers, protocols and types of access points. Fortunately, everything is automated now. If you change the settings by mistake, you can always restore them to default.

  5. Network operators. You can select the desired cellular network manually or automatically. By default, the network is searched automatically, even in international roaming (a “friendly” network with optimal tariffs is selected). But you can always select the network manually:

Basic mobile network settings are set automatically. It is better for an inexperienced user not to change them.

How to enable the second SIM card slot on Samsung

To enable the 2nd SIM card in Samsung (it’s similar in most others), go to settings and click “SIM Manager”.

Then select "Active Mode".

But this should not always be done. Therefore, above I recommended that you familiarize yourself with devices that have 2 slots for SIM cards.

It all depends on the built-in radio modules. Perhaps your phone has two independent ones, then you can do without forwarding.

Thank you for your attention. Good luck, if something doesn’t work out, write in the comments - we’ll solve the problem together.

Replacing the SIM card of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is a task that seems difficult and overwhelming considering the new MicroSIM standard used in the handsets of this model. Users who are accustomed to solving communication problems by rearranging the SIM card, as well as retrogrades who change the operator or phone number by purchasing a completely different card, are confused when faced with this problem. We will teach you how to remove and insert a Samsung S4 SIM card at home.
