To understand PCT models once and for all, we have collected the differences for all current iPhones in one place.
PCT devices are products officially imported into Russia that have Rostest certificates.
This means that all declared functions of the device will work in the country, and the device will be covered by the manufacturer’s official warranty.
So-called “gray” devices, which are imported from Europe or the USA, can either work fully or be unsuitable for some services. There may be problems with the warranty of such devices.
Before buying an iPhone in person, in an online store or in a specialized place where equipment is sold, you should always check the model of the device.
How to find out the iPhone model and country of origin
The model number is printed on the back cover of the device and on the box. Of course, the codes must match. Sellers usually do not hide this information.
To find out where a specific device model comes from, you should look at the box or find the data in the device itself along the path “Settings - General - about this device”. Information about the country is carried by the last two Latin letters in your model code.
It will be more difficult with the country. Usually this information is not advertised when selling. You can most often view the iPhone region directly upon receipt of the device.
Below is a list of codes for all regions for which iPhones are produced:
A – Canada AB – Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt AE – Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, B – Great Britain and Ireland BG – Bulgaria BR – Brazil BT – Great Britain BZ – Brazil C – Canada CH – China CI – Paraguay CM – Hungary, Croatia CR – Croatia CS – Slovakia, Czech Republic CN – Slovakia СZ – Czech Republic D, DM – Germany DN – Austria, Germany, Netherlands E – Mexico EE – Estonia EL – Estonia, Latvia ER – Ireland ET – Estonia F – France FB – France, Luxembourg FD – Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland FN – Indonesia FS – Finland GB – Greece GH – Hungary GP – Portugal GR – Greece HB Israel HC – Hungary, Bulgaria HN – India IP – Italy J, JP – Japan IP – Portugal, Italy ID – Indonesia K – Sweden KH – South Korea, China KN – Denmark and Norway KS – Finland and Sweden LA – Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, El Salvador, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Barbados, Dominican Republic, Panama, Puerto Rico LE – Argentina LL – USA LP – Poland LT – Lithuania LV – Latvia LZ – Paraguay, Chile and Uruguay MG – Hungary MM – Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia MY – Malaysia ND – Netherlands NF – Belgium, France , Luxembourg, Portugal PA – Indonesia PK – Poland, Finland PL, PM – Poland PO – Portugal PP – Philippines PY – Spain QN – Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Norway QL – Spain, Italy, Portugal RO – Romania RR – Russia, Moldova RP, RS, RU – Russia RM – Russia, Kazakhstan RK – Kazakhstan SE – Serbia SL – Slovakia SO – South Africa SU – Ukraine T – Italy TA – Taiwan TH – Thailand TU – Turkey TY – Italy VN – Vietnam X – Australia, New Zealand Y - Spain ZA - Singapore ZD - Luxembourg, Austria, Belgium, Monaco, Germany, France, Netherlands, Switzerland ZG - Denmark ZO - UK ZP - Hong Kong and Macau ZQ - Jamaica

Accessories
How to determine the manufacturer of an iPhone? It is necessary to learn as much as possible about who is developing, assembling, and testing these devices. In fact, everything is more complicated than it seems. As we have already found out, in the USA, Apple is inventing new projects to create its own branded devices. Where are their components made?
America does not have the capacity to produce its own components for iPhones. That's why they are made abroad. This technique allows you to save money. Components for Apple devices are produced in different countries. Apple usually purchases components for its devices from Samsung, LG, Elpida and Hynix.
Apple's main cooperation is with Samsung. This company is located in Korea. It is responsible for the production of processors for phones and tablets. Therefore, we can call every iPhone a Korean assembly. More precisely, a Korean device. In addition, Apple entered into a contract with LG. It is responsible for the production of LCD displays. "LG" is also located in Korea.
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
In addition to these models, you can find models from Japan (A1779 and A1785). They do not turn off the shutter sound in the standard Camera application; they have a FeliCa module for payments and transfers via Apple Pay. Such models may not work correctly with domestic payment terminals.
There are other minor differences for models from certain countries or regions, read more about that here.
Models A1660 and A1661 have a faster LTE module. Under ideal conditions, the difference in speed can be up to 30%.
Models A1778 and A1784 are officially serviced in Russia. There will definitely be no problems with them when contacting a service center.
Device assembly
So, you already know that iPhones are made in the USA. That is why such devices are most often called an American creation. Only the components for them are often purchased in Korea, as we discussed above.
Apple devices are assembled outside the USA. More precisely, in Taiwan. This task is carried out by the large Taiwanese company Foxconn. This is the only base on which iPhones and iPads are assembled from ready-made components.
Foxconn currently cooperates with many modern large companies. For example, with Dell. And the organization entered into its first contract with Apple back in 2007.
It follows that every Taiwanese iPhone can be original. But Taiwan cannot be considered a gadget country. After all, such devices are just assembled here. The main work on the development and creation of mobile devices is carried out in other countries of the world.
iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus
Models certified for sale in the Russian Federation have codes: A1688 and A1687 . Other models A1633, A1700 A1634, A1699 are intended for sales in the USA and Asian countries.
There are some differences in the supported frequencies, however, they are not that critical. There is no real difference in mobile Internet speed; all models will work with domestic operators.
The only difference is the official guarantee on the territory of the Russian Federation. Models A1688 and A1687 will be serviced under warranty at any authorized service center, but repair or replacement of other models may be refused.
Project development
Apple is the leader in phones and other devices. It is this organization that develops projects to create unique mobile products.
Apple is an American company. The headquarters of the organization is located in California, in the state of Cupertino. Here, designers, programmers, advertising managers, economists and other workers are working on the development of new Apple devices.
Accordingly, the iPhone manufacturer is the USA. It would seem that everything is simple. In reality, understanding the topic being studied can be problematic. After all, developing gadget projects is only half the battle. Devices must be assembled, tested for functionality, and components must be produced. These functions are not always performed in one country.
iPhone SE
When purchasing this model, you need maximum attention. It's all about the supported LTE bands. Almost all domestic and many European operators operate on frequencies that are not supported by the American model.
A1662 model will work only with some operators and not in all regions of the country. To avoid problems with LTE in Russia, choose models A1723 and A1724 .
The situation with warranty service has not been canceled.
Checking iPhone on UnLock
In many countries, iPhones are sold specially locked for a specific telephone operator. In this case, the use of the device in other countries may be limited. It is possible to fix this problem and use a brand new phone, but one way or another, this requires additional time and money.
To make sure that your iPhone will function normally in your country, it is better to check when purchasing where your Apple gadget came from and whether it is locked to a specific operator.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
PCT models have codes: A1586 and A1524 . The following devices can be found on sale: A1549, A1589, A1522, A1593.
The situation is similar to the iPhone SE. Models A1549 and A1522 do not support operation in LTE Band 38; MTS and Megafon operators operate on this frequency. Such devices will only be able to access the network via 3G or they will have to change their operator.
Cost doesn't mean anything at all
Retail prices for new flagships.
You can endlessly calculate how much Apple actually spends on creating one of its smartphones.
Hundreds of thousands of people around the world work to ensure that dozens of components, cables, connectors and screws are connected with the help of caring Chinese hands into the coolest smartphone, with the Apple logo on the back panel.
The iPhone costs exactly what people are willing to pay for the opportunity to use a top-end device. Yes, this year Cook and Co. miscalculated a little and went too far with the cost of the iPhone Xs, Xs Max and XR.
But nothing - look, in China they are already reducing purchase prices, maybe this practice will come to us (we fantasized about this topic here).
Beware, fake!
Almost any modern popular technology is produced not only in the form of originals. It is often counterfeited. Therefore, it is important to know who the iPhone manufacturer is.
belongs to the USA. And fake Apple devices are most often produced in China, Taiwan and Finland. And distinguishing them from original gadgets can be problematic. If a buyer sees “Made in China” on an iPhone, don’t panic. After all, as we have already found out, some components of Apple devices are actually produced in China, and not in America. Therefore, you will have to take a good look at the phone. And only after that should we say that what the buyer is looking at is a fake.
Decoding the serial number.
In addition to the batch, the device settings indicate the serial number. It is a 12-digit code that can tell you a lot about the device.
- The first 3 characters of the code indicate the department where the smartphone was manufactured. Since iPhones are produced in a huge factory in China, it has many departments.
- The 4th character is the half-year code, which shows when the device was released.
- The 5th character indicates the week of release.
- Characters 6, 7 and 8 are unique numbers for each device of the corporation.
- 4-characters from the end - signs that contain information about the model, case color, storage capacity, iPhone generation.
To obtain detailed information about your gadget, you can find the Chipmunk service in the browser search and use it. Just enter your smartphone series in a special column on the website and you will receive detailed information.
Before buying a device, be sure to check whether it is a new iPhone to be sure of the gadget. The evolution of Apple smartphones. All iPhone models in order
Who is the manufacturer?
Quite often the iPhone says Assembled in China. However, every person should know who the real iPhone manufacturer is. It is also important to understand for which region a particular device is intended. After all, there are some differences in the operating systems of Apple devices. They depend on the country for which the phone was originally intended.
How to find out the manufacturer of an iPhone? You need to look at the back panel of the device, as well as the box with the device. It indicates both the country of production and the region for which the product is intended.
You can turn on the device and open the menu “Settings” - “General” - “About device”. Here you will have to visit the “Model” section. The last pair of letters in the number is the country of origin. This combination must match the inscription on the box with the smartphone.
Here are some signature options:
- RS - Russia;
- T - Italy;
- PR - Moldova, Russia;
- TA - Taiwan;
- LL - America;
- KS - Sweden, Finland;
- J - Japan;
- E - Mexico;
- CH—China;
- B - Ireland, UK.
In fact, everything is not as difficult as it seems. The main thing is to thoroughly understand the topic being studied.
Difference from fake
Which iPhone manufacturer is better? It is generally accepted that only original Apple phones are distinguished by their quality. Customer experience often confirms this fact. But there are also very high-quality fakes.
In any case, the following features will help you distinguish the original iPhone:
- This Apple phone does not support additional memory.
- Original Apple devices do not have the ability to work with multiple SIM cards.
- The cost of a fake is often lower than that of a real Apple smartphone.
- When you connect a real iPhone to a PC via iTunes, the devices are synchronized. In the case of fakes, the smartphone will not be recognized by the software.
- If you try to open the AppStore, fake Apple devices will open Google Play. Original Apple devices do not support such a service.
- The operating system of Apple smartphones is iOS. Counterfeits are most often controlled by the Android base.
- Real phones from a company called Apple have no translation problems. No hieroglyphs, typos or errors. Their presence indicates a fake.
- The original devices on the back panel have the following inscriptions: Assembled in China, Designed in California. The model number and certification mark will also be written here.
- The back panel of a real Apple smartphone is not removable. In order to disconnect it, you will have to unscrew the production screws.
In addition, the fake (usually Chinese) iPhone has a USB or USB-mini charger, as well as a retractable antenna. Similar components are missing from real iPhones.
Having remembered all the listed principles and rules, everyone will be able to understand whether the phone in front of them is a fake or an original. A first generation iPhone or a newer device is not so important. The main thing is that the listed principles are relevant for all Apple smartphones.
About replacing components
Today it offers all its customers a special program for restoring faulty devices. Defective Apple phones are sent back to the manufacturer to be checked for functionality. Next, Apple either replaces the components and returns the device to the client, or sends him a new one. And the faulty gadget is reassembled and sent for sale, but with the appropriate marking.
In this case, several countries act as the iPhone manufacturer. Exactly the same as in the previous situation. After all, the device is initially sent to the USA, to the Apple device development center. There, the organization's employees check the components, after which they transfer the gadgets to the Foxconn plant. On it, an iPhone is reassembled from ready-made components ordered in one country or another (most often in Korea). Next, the device is sent back to America. So the reassembled iPhones also have different manufacturers - the USA, Korea and Taiwan.
