In the previous article I showed how to connect these headphones to a mobile device (if anything, here is the link), and in this article we will connect our Xiaomi Redmi AirDots or Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds basic to a laptop or desktop computer. Of course, these compact Bluetooth headphones from Xiaomi are best suited for listening to music somewhere on the street, while playing sports, or for working as a Bluetooth headset. Primarily due to the TWS format. No wires, which is very convenient. But this is such a popular model of TWS headphones that many people connect them to laptops and even desktop computers. And in this article I will show you how to do it correctly.
I have Xiaomi Earbuds basic headphones - they connect to a laptop on Windows 10 without any problems. Xiaomi Redmi AirDots are exactly the same headphones, and they also work great with laptops and PCs.
I checked everything on Windows 10. If you have Windows 7, you can also connect these TWS headphones, but there is a possibility that there will be connection problems due to the lack of drivers for AirDots/Earbuds basic. Unfortunately, it is not possible to download a driver specifically for these headphones, but you can try to solve the problem by updating the Bluetooth adapter driver. I will talk about this in more detail at the end of this article.
First connection to a laptop
The main condition is to correctly synchronize the earbuds with each other, and then connect them to the laptop. The order is:
- Open the lid and remove both earbuds from the box.
- The LEDs should light red. If this does not happen, press the power button for 10 seconds.
- Now both buttons are held for 2-3 seconds to allow synchronization between the pair. If this happens, the LEDs will turn white.
- When the light on the right earphone becomes dim and the light on the left goes out completely, synchronization will begin.
- After this, Bluetooth is turned on on the laptop.
- At the very end, you need to update the list and find the synchronized Xiaomi AirDots.
If the headphones were connected to another device
Wireless earbuds are multifunctional. They are convenient for various activities: playing sports, watching movies, working and studying. For each case, different gadgets are used - PC, TV and smartphone. Because AirDots only sync with one device, connecting the headphones to a new device requires a new connection each time.
The shutdown sequence is the same:
— open Bluetooth settings; find the name Xiaomi AirDots in the list; — delete it through the “remove device” item.
To do a complete reset of the headphones, you need to:
— remove Xiaomi AirDots from the list; take them out of the case; — hold down the sensors (after blinking the LEDs go out, you need to wait until it resumes); — place the headphones back into the charging box; — after a few seconds, take it out (the right blinking should slow down); — After these steps, you can connect to the device. Resetting can solve many problems.
Method No. 2 - connecting Xiaomi Redmi Airdots to a mobile device
To pair Xiaomi Redmi Airdots and a smartphone, do the following:
- Cancel the existing pairing of your headphones with other devices (phone, tablet, PC, etc.) using the settings functionality on these devices;
- Remove the headphones from the case and turn them off completely by holding the buttons for 5-6 seconds until the red LEDs light up;
- Now hold down these buttons for 20-30 seconds. They will first signal by flashing white indicators, after 10 seconds by red-white flashing, and then again by red-white flashing after about 5 seconds;
- Turn them on by holding their touch area for about 3 seconds;
- The left earphone will synchronize with the right. During synchronization, you will hear simultaneous sound in the right and left headphones, and only the right one will flicker with white light;
- All that remains is to connect them to the phone. As we wrote above, usually it is enough to connect only the right (“R”) earphone.
How to connect AirDots to a Windows 7 laptop
Problems with the built-in Bluetooth module are not uncommon in Windows 7. Usually the system does not see wireless headphones, and even if it syncs, there is no sound. Diagnostics reports that there are problems installing drivers.
How to connect Xiaomi Airdots to a Windows 7 laptop
— Press the power button for a few seconds to turn on the earbuds. When they are working, the LEDs flash actively. - If Windows 7 recognizes it, it will appear in the search box. Select the one you need and click “Next”. Synchronization occurs. — If the operating system does not recognize AirDots, you need to update the Bluetooth driver.
If there is no sound after connecting
It happens that when connected there is no sound or the microphone does not work. To find out the cause and troubleshoot problems, you must follow the step-by-step instructions.
What to do:
— go to the sound menu and click “Playback devices”; — next to “Bluetooth Headphones” the “Default device” should be indicated. If it says “Ready” next to it, use the right mouse button to select “Set as default”. - After that, a sound appears. — If there is a message “Connection interrupted” or there is no device, check the connection of the headphones to the laptop. — There are no special drivers for Redmi or Xiaomi AirDots!!!
Review of the sound of wireless TWS headphones
Well, now the most important thing.
They sound very good, but I can’t say that they are much better than Haylou or Havit. By and large, these are headphones of the same quality. The sound is clear, spacious and balanced. But deep bass lovers will have to play with the equalizer. The dynamic headroom is enough for the eyes - it was loud for me even at the medium setting, while in others I often have to turn the slider almost to the maximum.
The default ear pads are wider than the Ausdom's and fit more snugly into your ears. Due to this, the channel is better isolated from external sounds. And of course, they don’t fall out during active movements, although there are no additional rubber fasteners here - you can engage in physical exercises without fear of losing them.
If we talk about the reception distance, then the 10 meters declared by the manufacturer can only be in theory. In practice, the connection is stable only if you move into the next room. Then there will be constant breaks.
A few words about the microphone. It is stated that the Redmond Airdots use an active noise reduction system. To be honest, in the Arctic I didn’t notice much of a difference between them and other wireless headphones of a similar form factor. Learning the voice in them is just as bad. Whatever one may say, the design does not facilitate their full use as a headset.
How to connect headphones to PC on Windows 10
In Windows 10, problems with old drivers almost never occur. But the system may not have time to update them, then you will have to do it yourself. To synchronize bluetooth headphones with a PC, you need:
- Click on the wireless connection icon in the notification center. When pressed, it turns blue, which means it's turned on.
- Go to “Devices”, open “Bluetooth and other devices”. The same can be done from the notification center.
- Next you need to click on “Add Bluetooth or other device”.
- After this, the search for gadgets and headsets will begin. At this point the LED slowly flashes white. If the earbuds turn off and there is no blinking, you need to place them back in the charging box. Then take them back and hold the buttons on each for a few seconds.
- The moment the laptop finds the “ears”, you need to select them from the list. Synchronization will begin.
- If the message “Connected voice, music” appears, it means that the “ears” can be used to listen to music and for communication.
- The earbuds are displayed in the Bluetooth menu, as well as the charge level.
Synchronization is carried out in another way:
- You need to open Start.
- Select "Options".
- Open the "Devices" window.
- Activate the wireless connection in the Bluetooth tab.
- Select the one you need from the list of available devices.
- When the connection is established, the LEDs will turn off.
Packaging and equipment
The Redmi AirDots box is cheap, like all the latest Xiaomi devices. And here we are talking not only about the cardboard materials, but also about the design - well, really, it’s completely useless. Previously, when they made just white Apple-style boxes, it looked much more presentable.
Oh well, in the end we'll just throw it away after unpacking it, so it's not the most important thing. But for the packaging of the parcel I will give the seller a fat plus
The headphones were packed not just in a bag, but also in impenetrable polyethylene “armor”, as a result of which the box was not damaged at all. So you can safely take it as a gift.
Inside we find 50% of useful things and the same volume is occupied by air brought from the Middle Kingdom. That is, the box could easily be made twice as small. Well, or at least put a cable in it - alas, it’s not here. Moreover, for charging you need a wire with a micro USB connector and it is assumed that you must take it from your phone. What if you have an iPhone with Lightning or a flagship Android with USB-C? In general, this moment was not thought through.
The kit only comes with a set of spare ear pads and useless instructions in Chinese. Okay, we're done with the negatives, then there will be only positive emotions.
What to do if AirDots won't connect
It's not always clear how to connect both AirDots. If the connection fails, this may mean that:
- No synchronization between earbuds. This happens when only one is working, and there is no understanding of how to connect the second AirDots earphone. In this case, the connection instructions were not followed. When the left one is connected first and then the right one, no contact occurs.
- The laptop does not see the “ears”. That is, when connected, Redmi Airdots or Xiaomi headphones are not recognized. Even though they are included.
- Charging problems.
Necessary steps to return the car
To return the purchased car to the seller, you must follow a certain algorithm of actions:
- clarify whether there are legal grounds for returning the car to the dealership. To do this, you can use the help of a car lawyer or get information from this article;
- contact the seller with an official request to accept the car. It is recommended that this step be documented, with appropriate registration at the car dealership, or by sending the document by mail with a list of attachments and receipt of receipt;
- present the car to the seller, demanding that an inspection report be drawn up indicating exactly those shortcomings or malfunctions that were the basis for such a step on the part of the buyer;
- receive one copy of the car acceptance certificate from the buyer to the seller. From this moment on, the seller is responsible for the vehicle. If the seller refuses to accept back a vehicle that he previously sold to the buyer, he should prepare for a judicial resolution of the dispute. For this, an official complaint that was previously sent or delivered to the seller will be useful;
- with the help of a professional lawyer or an experienced lawyer, prepare a statement of claim to the court. The main requirement is to return the vehicle to the seller, since the car was sold with irreparable technical defects, and to receive the price paid for it.
- bring a claim to the court at the location of the defendant. Achieve a positive decision. During the trial, you can demand not only compensation for the cost of the car, but also fines, penalties, and compensation for moral damage;
- after the court decision enters into legal force, obtain a writ of execution. Submit it to the Federal Bailiff Service for enforcement. After the opening of enforcement proceedings, the bailiff will give the debtor a period for voluntary execution of the court decision. If refused, proceeds to forced execution.
If the bluetooth connection drops
If the connection drops during use, you can do the following:
- Take the pair out of the box and turn it off.
- Press and hold the power button and wait for the triple blink.
- Place the ears back into the charging case.
- Connect the device to your laptop or PC.
- Synchronize them.
- Play some song to test the connection.
Another problem is when the laptop does not find wireless headphones, that is, they are not in the list of available devices. This happens because it automatically connects to a TV or PC with which it was previously synchronized. Another cause of the problem may be a dead battery.
The Bluetooth headphones are ready to connect when the white light on the right earbud flashes slowly. If the indicators flash briefly and go out, it means they have synchronized with an already familiar gadget.
To disconnect them and switch them, you need to:
- disable the wireless connection on a “familiar” PC or smartphone;
- open the Bluetooth menu, turn off the “ears”, remove the headphones from the list of connected devices.
Actions to take in such a situation
Changing the graphics to a low resolution will help. It is required to limit the power consumption mode. Do not continue playing while the phone charger is on. Remove the phone from the case and allow general ventilation of the case. Turn off the phone, remove the battery.
If the smartphone was in a damp room or moisture got on it. This is especially true for the USB input and leakage into the smartphone. Oxides can lead to current leakage, and this contributes to heating of the device. To resolve, you need to clean the USB. Take a thin stick and wrap cotton wool around it. Dip it in white spirit or alcohol and wipe the contacts at the entrance.
If water got inside, then you need to disassemble Meiza. And, carry out the same operation with the contacts that are connected to the board. But before doing this, disconnect the battery cable to avoid a short circuit.
