Instructions for connecting Bluetooth TWS headphones Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds basic and Xiaomi Redmi AirDots. I'll show you how to properly connect this Bluetooth headset to an Android phone or tablet, or to an iPhone/iPad. I will also show you how to use these headphones, how to control music and calls using the buttons on the headphones, and how to reset the settings if the headphones do not connect or only one earphone works. Many people have a problem connecting Earbuds/AirDots so that two headphones work. Since the headphones are TWS format and sometimes they do not connect to each other, as a result of which the sound is reproduced only from one earphone.
Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds basic and Xiaomi Redmi AirDots are absolutely identical headphones. It’s just that the latter are produced for the Chinese market, so they have a different name. I bought these headphones from us, that's why I have Earbuds. If I had ordered from AliExpress, then perhaps it would have been Redmi AirDots. But it does not matter. Only with AirDots, the kit most likely will not include instructions in Russian.
These are probably one of the most affordable and popular TWS headphones. They connect seamlessly to any smartphone and can serve as both completely wireless stereo headphones and Bluetooth headsets (there is a built-in microphone). Works well with Android and iOS devices. All function key functions work and the headphone charge level is displayed. Also, Xiaomi Earbuds/Redmi AirDots connect to Windows computers without any problems.
How to set up Xiaomi wireless headphones
Before you start connecting Xiaomi headphones to your phone, you need to make sure that the headset is fully charged.
To do this, just look at the color of the indicator located on each of the headphones. Usually, if the LED blinks blue, then the battery is fully charged, if red, on the contrary, it is discharged. Xiaomi produces many types of wireless headphones: Redmi AirDots, Mi True Wireless Earbuds, Mi Collar and Mi Sport. You can also find other types that will differ from the previous version by the PRO entry. Depending on the headset model, the connection and setup principles may differ, so we recommend that you first read the included instructions. But, as a rule, to connect Xiaomi wireless headphones to your phone, you need to do the following:
- Turn on the headphones by pressing the touch or mechanical button.
- After this, press the button again and hold it until a sound signal appears indicating that you are ready to connect.
- Go to your phone settings and turn on Bluetooth.
- We wait until the device appears in the list of available devices. If nothing appears, you can click the “Update” button. Also make sure that the blue light on each earbud is flashing.
- Click on the headphone model in the list and wait for pairing. In the window that appears on the screen, you must select “Accept”.
Now, when you turn on Bluetooth, the wireless headphones will automatically connect to your phone. To cancel permanent pairing, you must perform the following steps:
- Click on the name of the headset in the list of connected devices.
- On the page that opens, click on the “Cancel pairing” button.
In order for the headphones to appear in the list again, you need to perform the connection steps again.

Problems connecting to your phone
Despite the ease of connection, an untrained user may encounter some problems. Almost always the situation is resolved after performing simple steps, which are described in detail below.
If Xiaomi wireless headphones do not connect to the phone, then most likely the problem lies not in the headset itself, but in a system error in the smartphone. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the main options for troubleshooting:
- Try restarting your smartphone after turning off Bluetooth. As practice shows, after such an action many errors disappear for some unknown reason.
- Temporarily turn off the headphones by holding your finger on the touch or mechanical button for 4-5 seconds. Please note that you must not just put the headset into standby mode, but turn it off completely.
- Try connecting the wireless headphones to another smartphone. If the task is feasible, then the problem definitely lies in the phone.
What you can definitely not pay attention to when looking for a solution to the problem is the Bluetooth version. If the headphones work with Bluetooth 5.0, and the phone only supports Bluetooth 4.0, then there can be no barriers to connection. Restrictions can only be imposed on the distance of uninterrupted operation of the headset.
Sound
Airdots Pro 2 have support for several codecs that provide decent sound quality. The manufacturer has highlighted LHDC - a codec that ensures perfect playback clarity. There’s just one problem: it’s only compatible with Xiaomi and HUAWEI brands. If a person has a smartphone of a different brand, then this codec will not be supported. There are also SBC and AAC codecs, which will allow you to combine the headphones with iPhones and Android smartphones.

The ENC noise reduction system allows you to enjoy the sound of music without the penetration of extraneous noise. The speaker has a 14.2mm composite coil that provides excellent sound.

Dance music is best listened to in the mid-range. For classical music, the bass level may seem insufficient. The headphones convey vocals perfectly. Some people buy them to play computer games or work with videos.
One earphone doesn't work
The second most common problem is that the sound can only be heard from one of the headphones. Most often this is caused by the battery of one of the wireless headphones being completely drained. You can understand this by the indicator: if it is blue, then everything is in order, and if it is red, then the headset is discharged.
It also cannot be ruled out that the headphones cannot pair with each other. This usually occurs due to a system error, but mechanical failures also occur. To resolve the problem, you need to do the following:
We completely turn off each of the headphones by long pressing the touch panel. The indicator lights should flash red. Again, press the button on the headset and wait about 30-50 seconds. After two quick blinks appear, we stop pressing and simply wait until the indicators stop lighting altogether.- We place the headphones in the charging case for 5 seconds, and then take them out at the same time. After this manipulation, the headphones should pair with each other.
- We try to connect the headset to the smartphone. If it is detected by the smartphone as two different devices, then first of all we connect to the right earphone. If completed successfully, press the button on the left earphone.
There is also another way to pair each earbud:
- We place the headphones in the case and check that they are fully charged.
- We take out one of the headphones, it doesn’t matter whether it’s right or left.
- We wait for the headset to turn on automatically, and then turn it off with a long press (30-50 seconds).
- Press the touchpad until the red indicator appears.
- We take out the second earphone and perform similar actions. The most important thing is to maintain strict consistency.
- Place the headset back into the case. The red LED on each headphone should be lit.
After following these steps, the headphones should work together without any problems.

Charging problems
Charging problems with Xiaomi wireless headphones are quite common, and in most cases they can be dealt with at home. The main causes and troubleshooting options can be found below:
- The headphone contacts do not adhere well to the case contacts. If you look closely at the earphone, you will notice two golden-colored metal contacts on its back side. Quite often they become contaminated, as a result of which the conductivity of the current is disrupted. The solution here is as follows: wipe the contacts of the case and headphones with an alcohol solution or other disinfectant.
- Incompatibility of components. It is always difficult to distinguish original headphones from high-quality fakes. That is why you may encounter various problems, including charging.
- Manufacturing defects. There are always some errors possible during production. We recommend that you contact the store and return the headphones under warranty.
- Internal damage. If the headphones stop charging after they were dropped, then perhaps one of the internal components was damaged. The same applies to the case itself. Fixing the problem on your own without certain knowledge is quite problematic, so it is better to turn to specialists.
Thus, you can connect Xiaomi wireless headphones to your phone in a few minutes. And it doesn’t matter what operating system is installed on your smartphone. The headset works correctly with both iPhone and Android devices.
