How to clear SIM card memory. How to delete any contact from Android in several easy ways

Over time, if many contacts are added to the phone book, the amount of free space on the SIM card is significantly reduced. And given the messages that many smartphone owners regularly receive, memory can quickly run out. But what to do if the SIM card is full on your Android phone? It turns out that it is enough to delete rarely used numbers or move them to internal storage. Also, do not forget about online services that greatly simplify the synchronization process (for example, Google Contacts). We'll tell you how to do everything right and finally clear your SIM card.

Why do you need to clean your SIM card?

As already mentioned, the SIM card has a fairly small amount of memory, so it will not be possible to save many contacts and SMS on it. As a rule, a SIM card allows you to record about 100 numbers and 200 messages. As soon as the SIM card is completely full, the message “SIM memory full” or something similar will appear. Accordingly, to add new contacts, you need to delete old ones.

Clearing the memory is also necessary if there is a need to give your SIM card to another person. Therefore, you will probably want all your personal information deleted.

Is it possible to get my money back?

Unfortunately, it will not be possible to return funds to Megafon subscribers.

The fact is that without the user’s consent, no one has the right to withdraw funds from the subscriber’s personal account. As mentioned above, subscribers themselves agree to a paid subscription, which means that representatives of paid services are not obliged to return funds.

Therefore, you need to be extremely careful, because the maximum amount that “SIM Card Menu Services” can withdraw from the user’s personal account reaches 150 rubles.

How to clear SIM card memory on Android from SMS

To clear SIM card memory from SMS using an Android smartphone, follow these steps:

  1. Open your messages folder.
  2. In the upper right corner, click on the three dots icon to open Settings.

  3. In the “SMS Settings” item, click on “SIM1 Messages” or “SIM2 Messages”.
  4. Highlight the desired message with a long press, and then mark all the SMS that you want to delete.
  5. After this, click “Delete”.

Depending on the phone model, menu items and paths may vary slightly!

You can also set up automatic deletion of SMS by checking the box next to the “Delete old messages” option.

There is nothing to demagnetize there!

In fact, a SIM card is one of the types of processor-based “smart cards” that differ depending on the supported mobile communication system. Next we will talk specifically about SIM cards working in our GSM networks.

Today, there are four standard sizes of SIM cards:

  1. Full-size (1FF), the size of a bank card;
  2. Mini-SIM (2FF), the usual large SIM card;
  3. Micro-SIM (3FF), those that were in the iPhone 4;
  4. Nano-SIM (4FF), thin SIM cards that are now in most smartphones.

When you buy a card now, you get a chip on a universal piece of plastic that meets all these standards. And whatever the form of SIM cards, they have one thing in common: this is a real computer in miniature . A small chip with six contacts (previously there were eight) contains almost the same components as in a regular system unit. The SIM card contains:

  • Processor (CPU);
  • Random access memory (RAM);
  • Read-only memory (ROM);
  • I/O controller;
  • File system.

Of course, there is no battery or any kind of human interface, they are simply not needed. But the small SIM card has its own operating system, which allows you to store vital data for the phone, user files (contacts, SMS) and even Java applications.

Due to the desire to reduce the cost of components, operators issue cards with a minimum of memory, but technically, gigabytes of information can be stored on SIM cards. Of course, no one needs this, there are no terminals operating in this mode, and it’s easier to operate a large amount of data via USB.

Do you understand now? This is a board with contacts. There are no magnetized elements here. The principle of data recording has nothing to do with magnetism. Accordingly, there is nothing to be demagnetized.

You can clear contacts from your SIM card using software. Below is an example that was made using the Cool Android Eraser utility.

Deleting contacts in a couple of clicks

Many developers have the “Cleaner” application, but only “SimplerApps” is distinguished by its absolutely correct operation. The main functions of this application are:

Among the main advantages of this application from this developer are its light weight, equal to a dozen MB, as well as the absence of any advertising content. Correct execution of the specified actions is carried out in just one click. There is an option to delete all information from the contact book, although you need to be careful with this.

Other programs that work with contact information for Android are also suitable for working with the application.

How to clear SIM card memory on iPhone

Deleting SMS messages and contacts from SIM card memory via iPhone is a little more difficult. This is done through the iTunes utility. If it is already installed on your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your device to PC via USB cable.
  2. Launch iTunes.
  3. After this, in the program interface, you need to select your iPhone and go to the “Information” section.
  4. The program will require contact synchronization, so confirm this action.
  5. Next, you need to click on the “Advanced” button.
  6. The next window will display a list of all saved contacts. Check the boxes next to all the numbers you want to delete.
  7. After that, click the “Replace” button and confirm this action.

If you are unable to connect your iPhone to your computer, or you don’t want to use iTunes, you can also delete unnecessary contacts using your smartphone. However, unlike Android, you won’t be able to erase all numbers in a couple of clicks, so you’ll have to select and delete each contact manually.

For this:

  1. From the Home screen, open Contacts.
  2. Select the desired number from the list.
  3. Click on it and then click "Edit".
  4. An editing window will open, you need to select the “Delete contact” option.

You need to do this operation for each saved subscriber.

Clearing cache

When a smartphone is used for quite a long time, you can notice how the free space becomes less and less. It is not necessary to install applications - the memory is filled with auxiliary files that are necessary for the operation of already installed programs.

A cache is a collection of data for applications to run. Temporary files are downloaded from the Internet without warning. You can clear the cache of each application individually, or you can globally clear all files.

To delete temporary data for a specific game, social network, or other program:

  • go to your Xiaomi phone settings,
  • then to the “All applications” tab.
  • select from the list, select the application whose operation data you want to erase.
  • You can do this by clicking “Clear cache”.

All information about the program will be deleted, but upon reactivation a new cache will be created. Especially “gluttonous” applications should be deleted if the memory fills up very quickly and this interferes with the normal operation of the device.

Xiaomi software also provides for the removal of temporary data and reports on the operation of all applications at once. To do this, go to “Storage” in the settings and click “Cleanup”.

In automatic mode, unnecessary files will be found in memory, which you can get rid of without worrying about the consequences. If you need to leave something, uncheck the box on the right. By clicking the “Clear” button, the process of deleting the marked files will begin.

In this way, you can clean your smartphone of debris using only the built-in capabilities of the operating system.

  1. Click on the “Clear” button at the bottom and select “Clear cache”.

  1. Open the phone book on your phone.
  2. Next, click on the right button, which is located next to the control keys.
  3. This will open a menu with options where you need to select either Delete or Delete Contact.
  4. After that, select the desired number, or mark a group of subscribers.
  5. Next you need to click “Sim card”.
  6. Confirm the deletion by selecting “Ok”.

This instruction is just an example; the steps may vary on different devices.

If all else fails

As a rule, users do not have problems when deleting contacts and SMS. However, if any errors appear, the SIM card was probably damaged, or the phone has some kind of bug in the system.

To fix this problem, you need:

  • Install updates for the smartphone operating system. After that, check if the errors have been resolved.
  • Try inserting the SIM card into another device and try to delete the contact through it.

If these methods do not resolve the problem, you should contact your mobile phone store and ask for a SIM card replacement.
