Many people are often interested in the question of how to disable the Internet on Samsung. New cell phones released by Samsung offer users interesting applications. However, programs can consume Internet traffic, as a result of which money will gradually disappear from the user’s account.
As a rule, this applies to background updates, as well as when exchanging information with the server. Another equally pressing problem is roaming. All resources connected to a cell phone are associated with large financial costs. Therefore, it is important to know how to turn off the Internet on a Samsung Duos phone in order to save normal traffic, as well as money.
How to disable mobile Internet on a smartphone?
The instructions on how to disable the Internet on an Android smartphone or tablet are as follows: On devices with Android OS (for example, Samsung Galaxy smartphones), look for the “Wireless networks” menu in “Settings”, then “Mobile network” and uncheck the box.

When to turn off the Internet on Samsung
Smartphone owners should be careful when connecting to the World Wide Web via 3G or 4G, because many operators have limited MB packages. There are several situations when it is recommended to disable mobile Internet on Samsung:
- The desire to save money when the operator’s tariff does not provide for a subscription fee.
- The need to increase battery life. It's no secret that connecting to the World Wide Web drains your battery.
- Being in roaming. When traveling to another country or region where the operator's tariff does not apply, it is better to turn off the Internet connection. Otherwise, the risk of financial losses is high.
- Protection against unnecessary costs when exceeding established limits. If access is not disabled in time, the Samsung phone may access the Internet and begin updating applications. This, in turn, can lead to a quick exit from the established limits and, as a result, expenses.
If the operator charges for the Internet when it is turned off, this is not a breakdown of the device, but errors in the calculations. To check, launch any web explorer and try to access the Internet. If it is properly disabled on a Samsung phone, this will not work.
What are we doing?
Traditionally, a minimal amount of theory is required. Where does the Internet come from on your smartphone?
- Mobile data - via SIM card. If you just need to save on mobile traffic, just turn them off.
- Wi-Fi: You will need to turn it off to turn off the Internet completely.
If you want to completely disconnect your phone from the outside world, sometimes it will be easier to send it in Airplane Mode (but only if a connection is not required).
It is on these points that I propose to go further.
Many phone functions duplicate each other in different places. Our actions are enough - that is, there is no need to look for anything else.
Step 1 – Turn off mobile data
The most common way to get disconnected from the Internet is when your mobile data is turned off. So that traffic does not go through the SIM card and money is not debited. We do this:
- Let's go to the "curtain" on the phone. To do this, swipe your finger from top to bottom on the main screen. To fully open the curtain, you can swipe your finger again (if suddenly all the icons, as in the images below, do not appear).
- Looking for an icon for mobile data. This is usually called "Mobile Data" or shortened to it. You can also find typical arrows for them like in the picture below. Sometimes they are "hidden" in the menu on the first page: you can swipe left and right to find them. Of course have.
- Click on this icon. The blue button will turn gray. That's it, the Internet via a SIM card will not work until activated.
Alternative method 1. You can disable them through the usual settings (but through the curtain it is much more convenient). Settings - Connection - Data Usage - Off The paths may vary depending on the Samsung shell version. So it's best to see the main street.
Alternative method 2. An experienced user probably knows that the same APN access point with username and password is used to connect to the mobile Internet. You can go to your mobile data settings and manually remove all authorization data. Now, under no circumstances will the phone be able to connect to the operator’s Internet.
Step 2 – Turn off Wi-Fi
The Internet on the phone can pass not only through the operator, but also through home Wi-Fi. You usually don't need to turn it off—it doesn't eat up your money, and cellular data uses much less power. But if you need to completely disable the Internet (for example, to run some applications), we do it.
- As in the previous section, we go into the “tent”.
- Among the icons we are looking for something similar to Wi-Fi. Usually on Samsung this is not called Wi-Fi directly, but rather called home Wi-Fi. Just look around. As a rule, this icon is one of the first.
- Click in the same way to make the icon gray. That's it, now there is no Wi-Fi.
Alternative method 1. Again, Wi-Fi can be turned off in the settings. Settings - Connections - Wi-Fi - turn off.
Alternative Method 2: If you dig into your phone's Wi-Fi settings, you'll notice that the phone remembers the Wi-Fi points it previously connected to to reconnect on the fly. Remove these dots and your phone won't be able to connect to Wi-Fi until you manually connect it and enter the password. A radical way, but sometimes useful.
Setting up Play Market
You've probably noticed that when you return home from the street, Android starts updating many applications. Sometimes this even leads to freezes if the gadget is not too fast. The reason is that the Wi-Fi update is probably activated in the Play Market.
To disable the saving option, open the Google Play store, go into the settings and find two items: “download application” and “auto-update” - install any network, now programs will be updated as needed, and not when connected to a wireless network.
Install another shell
This is perhaps the most radical change you can make. With a custom launcher you can change the appearance of your desktop and icons. You just need to download the required program from the Google Play Store. The most popular are Nova, Apex or Microsoft Launcher.
When you install the program and restart your smartphone, the system will ask you which shell you want to use. Select the downloaded launcher option and click on the “always use” option.
Special programs to save traffic
There are special applications to disable the function. Most popular:
- Opera Max for Android is a free utility available for download on the Play Store. The name makes it clear that the utility is related to the Opera browser. Compresses data on the servers of the platform of the same name, then it gets to the user’s smartphone;
- Onavo Extend. How the application works: the gadget sends a request to the provider, the data goes to the server and is returned in compressed form. Compression does not affect the quality in any way, but the volume is seriously reduced. Before you begin, you must give the application permission to send information to the Onavo server. For secure operation, the connection is made via VPN;
- Data Status – compression is performed on third-party servers. Feature of the utility: visual detailing of the work. On the screen you can use graphs to track the volume of sent and compressed data, network testing schedules, possible connection points, etc.;
- Osmino Wi Fi - the program itself finds the access point and makes the connection. In this case, the utility will do without the password for the found network. Advantages: Russian interface, speed test and updated list of access points located nearby;
- WeFi Pro is smart software that activates Wi-Fi automatically. The owner of the smartphone can independently set parameters for the application, highlighting priority networks.
The data saving feature on a Samsung smartphone allows you to save money and memory space. You can activate it yourself or program the gadget to automatically change the status depending on the conditions set. There are special programs that work automatically.
Wi-Fi Data Usage
Here, the menu displays statistics on data transfer over a wireless Wi-Fi network for the last 28 days. At the same time, it records which applications used how much traffic. For most it will be youtube, like for me.
Next, each program can be configured to use traffic. Just tap on the application, a new window will open.
We can prevent the application from using mobile traffic in the background. And additionally allow the receipt/transmission of mobile data, even if traffic saving is enabled. I do not recommend enabling this option.
How to remove Samsung apps without root
Obviously, you won't be able to completely erase the Samsung user interface from your device without additional jailbreaking, but you can customize many interface elements to your liking.
To get started, you need to go to Settings - Applications - Application Manager, find the UI application and start configuring it.
This way, the application will remain in hibernation mode, it will not be updated and will only take up space in the memory of your smartphone. If you want to enable it again, all you need to do is simply enable the program in the Application Manager.
What applications can be deleted?
There is no single list of programs that can be safely removed without harming the system, so everyone must determine for themselves which of them are not needed. We offer a list of basic programs and those elements, the removal of which will not harm the operation of the Android device, for example, Google maps.
List of programs:
This is what the program system file itself looks like:
Here is a list of possible system applications to remove:
Disconnecting from the network using the operator
If the Internet is no longer needed, then the function should be disabled by contacting the nearest branch of the mobile operator or contacting an online consultant by phone. If this is not possible, the user can leave a request to disable the above services.
Sometimes, to solve a problem, mobile operator employees advise subscribers to come to the office to fill out a form to terminate the contract. As soon as the user receives an answer to his question, mobile communications employees will be able to turn off all unnecessary services.
Important! All that remains is to restart your mobile device to confirm the changes.
Power Saving Mode
If the above recommendations did not help and the Internet behaves strangely, then the reason is probably in the power saving modes. A rare user knows that the work of these modes is not only about redistributing energy between applications with private launch and rare ones. Often, power saving mode affects traffic - it simply disables it for most utilities. In advanced models - S10, Note 10 and older devices of the A series, thanks to the artificial intelligence embedded in top processors, it works correctly.
If the phone is not too expensive or old enough, then it’s worth looking at what mode the battery is being used up in. To do this, you need to go to the Android settings, select “Battery” and turn off the power saving mode. But before doing this, it would be a good idea to go into this mode and see how it is configured. It is possible that you can leave it, but make exceptions for some applications - their functioning will not be affected by energy saving.
It is worth remembering that by completely disabling energy saving you can significantly reduce the autonomy of the device. Therefore, it is worth considering what is more important – the Internet or battery capacity.
Thank you for your attention! Don’t forget to share articles on social networks, helping other people understand this issue. See you soon on the blog! Sincerely, Rostislav Kuzmin.
Method 1: Status Bar
The simplest method for solving the problem in question is to use icons in the device’s curtain. Unlock your phone and swipe down twice until the required items appear. Tap on the buttons with the name “Mobile Data” and the Wi-Fi icon - after they are deactivated, the Internet will be turned off. You can also use airplane mode—the desired icon is usually called that—but keep in mind that turning it on will deactivate all wireless modules.
