One of the common problems of Apple device owners is iPad activation failure. This usually happens after a system update or recovery, and users have to find a solution to the problem on their own.
Advice! If activation is carried out on a newly purchased device, and it has an error, then you should not try to figure out the situation, but should immediately return the device to the seller, since new tablets do not behave this way.
Before you start looking for the reason, you should make sure that the data for activating the iPad has not changed, and the user remembers exactly his login, password, and email. In some cases, the problem is caused by simply entering incorrect data. To check, you can log into your account from another device or through iTunes and check that the information is correct.
Methods to resolve the “iPhone activation failed” error
The “iPhone activation failed” error does not always mean that the phone needs to be taken to a service center: in most cases, it can be solved on your own. To do this, follow the steps below sequentially.
Method 1: Reboot iPhone
To eliminate a system failure that has occurred on the device, you should force it to reboot. The option to restart your iPhone will depend on the model, since it will involve physical keys.

Method 2: Use a stable Internet connection
Very often, the reason for the inability to activate an iPhone is an unstable or completely non-working Internet connection. The fact is that during the setup process, the iPhone accesses Apple servers. And if this cannot be done, the error we are considering is displayed on the screen. To do this, click the “Back” button and return to the Wi-Fi connection selection window. Select the appropriate network, enter its password and try to activate the phone again.
Method 3: Activation via iTunes
You shouldn’t rule out a hardware malfunction either - if the modem on your phone is faulty, you won’t be able to activate it without the help of a computer. In this case, you will need to connect the gadget to your computer using the original USB cable and launch iTunes. Read more about activating an iPhone via iTunes in a separate article.

Method 4: Flashing your smartphone
In case of various software errors, Apple provides a special DFU mode - an emergency environment, which is used to cleanly install the firmware on the device.
- Connect your iPhone to your computer using the original USB cable and launch iTunes.
- Enter iPhone into DFU mode.

When iTunes detects the connected device, click the “OK” button.
The only manipulation that iTunes will offer is restoring the device. During the process, the program will download the latest available firmware for your phone model, remove the old version, and then perform a clean installation of the new one. After completing the procedure, when the welcome window appears on the screen, try to reactivate your smartphone.
Method 5: Replacing the SIM card
The problem may lie in a non-working SIM card installed in the smartphone. Very often, a similar problem occurs if the card was cut manually. In this case, contact your nearest telecom operator and replace the SIM card with a new one. As a rule, the reissue procedure is free.
Method 6: Retry activation later
The problem with activation may not be on your side at all, but on the side of Apple servers, which for some reason are not responding. In such a situation, you should try again, but after some time, for example, after two to three hours.
If, as a result, none of their methods bring a positive result, contact the service center: specialists will conduct diagnostics and be able to quickly fix the problem.
Describe what didn't work for you. Our specialists will try to answer as quickly as possible.
iPad (iPhone, iPod Touch) activation failure
I just watched the video. It immediately turns off and shows the Apple icon. And it shows activation blocking. Nothing helped. Guys, please help. 5s 16 GB. worked for a year. everything was ok. decided to sell. "dropped" him. I give it to the person. and he's on the trail. day says that activation failure occurs. and if via Wi-Fi it says something is wrong with the SIM card. Reflashing didn't help. It didn't help in DFU mode either. what kind of things are these? PS: I didn't fall. A couple of days passed between the reset and the activation attempt.
Once you are done, you can disconnect your iPhone from the computer and you will see that the iPhone is activated.
Problems with the new version
iPad activation failure was noticed when iOS 9.3 was released. When this version appeared in March 2016, owners of Apple gadgets encountered this error. Fortunately, there is nothing terrible about this problem, and the technical support department immediately issued instructions on how to fix it.
Many advanced users already know that it is better to wait a week or two for specialists to “finish” the new version. Then you can safely download it without any errors.
If the device does not activate after the update, you need to:
- Check if you have entered your personal information correctly. You need to go to iCloud.com and find your tablet in the “My Devices” list.
- If the data is correct, you need to connect the device to the PC. Go to iTunes and select iPad there, then activate it.
- If all of the above does not help, all that remains is to deactivate the blocking activation.
There are also instructions for the last stage:
- Turn off the device.
- Log in to your iCloud.com account.
- Select the “Find iPad” tab.
- Select the device in the “My Devices” section.
- We remove it from the list.
- Turn on the tablet and activate it again.
If all of the above methods fail to solve the problem, then you need to contact support.
Problems activating restored iPhones
Starting with version 11 of iOS, Apple has been pursuing a policy of combating illegal gadgets. This means that if you install unlicensed equipment on your smartphone, when you try to activate it, the gadget will display the message “Activation failed” and send a message to the company’s server.
Even if you contact a service center after this, repeated repairs will cost a large sum, since handicraft modifications will remove the device from warranty service. It is possible that the center’s specialists will simply refuse to service such an iPhone.
Activation failure is not the end of the world, but just a minor inconvenience. It is possible that by solving this problem, the owner of the iPhone will be imbued with even greater respect for Apple products and will once and for all become a convinced “Apple person.”

Recovery via iTunes
If your iPad is locked, connect it to iTunes to unlock it as it asks. Next, you need to use the backup for recovery. If it is not there, simply erase all data from the tablet along with the password. There is no other way.
iTunes is a free program from Apple that comes installed by default on all Macs. If you are using Windows, download the utility from the official Apple website. On the macOS Catalina operating system, you won’t need iTunes—everything is done through the Finder. For earlier versions of macOS it is required.
Step 1: Put your iPad into DFU mode. This is done like this:
- On an iPad with a Home button, press and hold the Side or Top button until the Power Off slider appears. Turn off the device, hold down the Home button, and connect it to the computer via cable. After that, hold the Home button until the Recovery Mode screen appears.
- On an iPad with Face ID, press and hold the top button and any volume button until the Power Off slider appears on the screen. Move it after turning off the device. Hold the top button and connect the tablet to the computer. Then hold the top button until the recovery mode screen appears.
Step 2: If your Mac is running macOS Catalina or higher, open Finder and select iPad from the left menu. For Windows and earlier macOS, open iTunes and also select your tablet from the left menu.
This is a screenshot from iPhone recovery, but it will be the same for iPad.
After clicking the “Restore” button, the software download will begin, which lasts about 15 minutes. After this, the iPad will automatically update to the latest version of iPadOS, which will delete the password and all data from the tablet.
All that remains is to restore the information from the backup copy and set a new password.
If the tablet is stolen or lost, a third party will not be able to perform a recovery. When he tries, he will see a window like this:
To restore, you need to turn off the Find My function or remove the iPad from the owner's account.
Turn on and set up iPad
When you set up your new iPad for the first time, you can safely transfer data from your Android device automatically. If you are blind or have difficulty seeing, triple-click the Home button (on iPad with a Home button) or triple-click the top button (on other iPad models) to turn on VoiceOver as a screen reader. You can also double-tap the screen with three fingers to turn on the Zoom feature.

For what reasons may activation not occur?
iPad activation is required. Otherwise, users simply will not be able to use the tablet. The activation of iPad and other Apple devices may fail:
- If you enter your registration information incorrectly when you first start your iPad. Password and email must be entered correctly.
- No network signal. A faulty or unstable 3G or WiF Internet connection can become a serious obstacle to activation.
- iPad is not activated via iTunes and is not synchronized with the PC. Perhaps the reason lies in the use of a non-original USB cable. Check the functionality of the USB interface. update iTunes to the latest version.
- System failures. Owners of used devices that have undergone flashing may encounter this problem.
Troubleshooting
So, there can be many reasons why the iPad does not activate. Some of them can be solved very simply, others will require more serious action. To begin with, you should start with simple solutions to the problem.
- If the iPad activation fails because the server is temporarily unavailable, then it would be logical to wait a while and try to connect again. By the way, it wouldn’t hurt to reboot the device first.
- Another option that will tell you what to do if you don’t have access to the server is to change the IP connection point. The easiest option is to connect to another Wi-Fi network or reboot the router.
- Sometimes the iPad writes “activation error” and indicates that the SIM card in the gadget is not supported by Apple’s current policy. This happens if the SIM is damaged - the tablet simply does not understand it. To fix the problem, you should check whether it is placed correctly in the slot, check the SIM on another gadget, and if it does not work, change it in the operator’s salon. In some situations, changing your cellular provider helps. However, this happens very rarely.
- If changing the wireless network and rebooting the tablet did not help, then you should use iTunes. It must be updated to the latest version. To activate via iTunes, the tablet will need to be updated. To do this, it connects to the PC via a cable, the program displays the connected gadget, and by clicking on it, a window opens with an offer to restore and update. After updating the device, and sometimes the reason that the iPad does not activate is due to an outdated version of the software, the program will prompt you to proceed with activation immediately. To do this, you need to follow the instructions that appear on the laptop screen.
- If none of the above methods worked, and the user was unable to activate the iPad, then they should try restoring to factory settings. Perhaps the update did not install correctly, or the user did an unsuccessful Jailbreak. First, it is recommended to perform a system restore via iTunes. The device is returned to its factory state, and the user must configure it as if it had just been purchased. This often solves the problem. You can try recovery via Recovery Mode, there are no differences in the process, only the tablet itself connects a little differently. First, you should turn it off completely and hold down the “home” button before inserting the cable from the PC.
- Sometimes the problem is that the user wanted to update the system on an old tablet. For example, you wanted to update your old iPad to newer versions of iOS, but you downloaded the beta firmware by mistake. In this case, you usually cannot activate the iPad, and you will need to either reset it to the initial version, or download the new iOS 11 (any other version), but the official, not beta version. To initially avoid such problems, it is recommended to carefully read the instructions and description of the firmware; the creators describe all the nuances and features.
- An activation problem may arise due to the fact that the update itself was not done correctly. After updating to iOS3, many owners were faced with the fact that they could not activate the iPad 2. In this case, it is recommended to roll back the iPad to the previous version and wait until the problem is fixed. Usually this takes very little time (if the error in the firmware was global, and many users encountered it, then it can be fixed literally in a matter of hours).
- If none of the methods help, or you cannot re-flash (reset) the tablet, then resetting in DFU mode may help. This is the most “hard” reset option, which will save you even in a situation where the “find iPad” mode was not disabled on the tablet, the user forgot the password and login for the account, and the problem arose as a result of this.
How to run DFU mode on iPad
This iPad startup mode is significantly different from the usual reboot of the tablet in Recovery mode. It flashes the operating system directly, bypassing iOS. Using DFU mode, you can reset the system crash that occurred during jailbreak.
To start this mode, open your computer and deactivate iTunes on it. Connect your iPad and computer using a USB cable. Then turn off the iPad completely by holding down the Power button for a long time. Next, press the Home button and the Power button together for about 10 seconds, and then release the Power button and continue to hold the Home button for 10-15 seconds until the USB cable appears. If the icon does not appear, hold the button longer.
In this case, the iPad display will be black and will not display anything. On your computer, turn on iTunes and follow the instructions. To flash the tablet, hold down the Shift button and press the “Restore” key, and then select the desired type of firmware for the iPad from the options provided and start the process of downloading it. We hope you were able to activate your iPad and the tablet can turn on!
If you find an error, please select a piece of text and press Ctrl+Enter
.
Sometimes your iPad may give you an unpleasant surprise on its display. Instead of simply turning on after a complete restart, as always, the device displays an “Activation Error” / “Activation Failure”.
What should I do to resolve the Activation Failed error on iPhone or other Apple devices?
First of all, don't be scared or upset. All electronics inside the iPhone/iPad/iPod are in perfect order, did not burn out or fail, which means everything is fine with the device. An activation failure occurred in the iOS operating system and now you just need to fix a few things in it.
Of course, it is best to contact the nearest specialized sales center for Apple equipment. Trained specialists work here who will bring your device back to life in a short time and without any problems. But, despite all the advantages, there is an unpleasant fly in the ointment. Of course, not everyone has such a center nearby and secondly, this service will still take some personal time and costs certain financial costs.
Specialized Internet resources offer a couple more ways to solve this problem. The first thing you need to do is make sure that your iOS device is connected to a reliable and stable Wi-Fi network. The first method is to simply repeat the operation of rebooting the device a couple more times:
- We hold down the “Home” key and wait until the message “Urgent call” - “Restart” - “Wi-Fi settings” is displayed.
- Go to “Restart”, click and wait for everything to get better.
If this was not enough, you can do the second method. You can replace the SIM card in the device with a working one and then reboot the device again. But there is one caveat: this method can work if you use original SIM cards. For example, from Megafon or AT&T, which depends on the operator and the region where the device was purchased.
Why does the iPad constantly require activation?
It happens that the gadget incessantly requires activation, and it is successful, but later a message appears again stating that activation is required. On the Apple website, the developers recommended activating the device via a PC. If this does not help, you need to contact a service center, since the problem may be mechanical in nature, namely, the GSM module has failed, and its incorrect operation causes malfunctions.
On the Internet you can find information that a stuck module can be repaired by cooling the device in the freezer or heating it with a hairdryer, but such “repair” methods should be resorted to in case the user wants to throw out the tablet. Repair is possible only in service habits will not help here.
Cause of failure
Typically, if an iPad activation error occurs, a message appears on the tablet stating that an error has occurred because the servers are unavailable. The manufacturer recommends trying to activate it later or writing to support. It is usually not clear from the content of the text what exactly prevents the device from completing the procedure, so you have to find out the reason experimentally. Possible problems:
- Internet problems;
- Apple server failures;
- Jailbreak was installed on the tablet;
- the device received a “crooked” update (example: iOS3 in the case of iPad 2);
- The device was locked by the previous owner.
How to activate an old iPad after updating: how to fix iOS 9.3 activation error
iOS 9.3 launched in April 2016 and brought a number of new features, including password protection for Notes and Night Shift. But some owners of older iPads have fallen into the trap of trying to turn their devices back on after the update is complete.
Users received the following error message:
Your iPad cannot be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPad to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes. If the problem persists, contact Apple Support at apple.com/support.
A variant error message has also been noticed:
Your iPad cannot be activated because the activation service is temporarily unavailable.
Many users did as stated in the first message, but encountered disappointing results. One user posted on the Apple discussion forums that they connected to iTunes in hopes of fixing the problem, but received a different error message:
iTunes was unable to verify your device. Please disconnect and reconnect your device. If the error persists, contact your nearest Apple Store for assistance. To find your nearest Apple Store, click here.
Other users followed these instructions and brought their devices to the Apple Store - but in at least one case, the employee handling the complaint was completely blindsided. Yet others will not be able to access the Apple Store or will find it inconvenient.
Luckily, Apple has released additional tips for those in this situation. Here's how to fix a bricked iPad—most likely an iPad 2—that won't turn on after installing iOS 9.3. You will need a PC or Mac or access to one. This is based on Apple's official advice, but we've added a few comments of our own that we hope you'll find helpful.
1. Connect your iPad to your Mac or PC. (Interestingly, Apple acknowledges that some iPad owners may not actually own a PC or Mac, and advises them to visit an Apple Store or authorized reseller and use their capabilities. Of course, this is not the best solution if the nearest retail location is several miles away .) At this point, it would be a good idea to back up your iPad, either locally or to iCloud, but if your device is completely unresponsive, you won't be able to do this.
2. Open iTunes and make sure you have the latest version. (At the time of writing this is iTunes 12.3.3.)
3. Restart your iPad (still connected) by pressing and holding the Power (Sleep/Wake) and Home buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen. You may need to keep them pressed longer than you think: the screen will go black and then the Apple logo will appear after a few seconds, but you'll need to hold the buttons for another 10 seconds or so until the iPad enters recovery mode.
4. You will be given the option to restore or update in iTunes. Select Update.
5. Apple says iTunes will now try to reinstall iOS “without erasing your data.” At the time of writing, the version of iOS that will be installed is iOS 9.3, but don't worry, there shouldn't be any problems this time. (Well, Apple admits that this step may not always work. It advises that if the update process takes more than 15 minutes, your iPad will exit recovery mode and you'll have to repeat steps 2 and 3.) One user reports seeing a message about the error again during this process, but says that you should ignore it and wait.
6. After the update is complete, leave your iPad connected to your computer. Now you need to complete the activation setup process for your iPad using iTunes.
This is Apple's advice, but Apple forum user ottoindo (who we've already quoted a couple of times) adds a few extra steps that may help if the official method doesn't work for you. We've renumbered them so they correspond to the steps above, but otherwise we quote ottoindo verbatim:
6b. Once iOS 9.3 has finished downloading, you will need to repeat step 3. This time, your iPad will ask if you want to restore it.
7. Once the restore is complete, you will be asked to choose whether you want to activate the iPad as a “new” device or restore it from the latest backup. Selecting the new iPad option will format your iPad so it looks like new, and restoring it will get your data back again.
Activation without a computer
This feature is only available for devices with iOS version 5 and later. The method is very simple and only requires a connection to the Internet via Wi-Fi. We perform the following manipulations:
- Turn on the iPad by holding down the “Power” button until an apple appears on the screen;
- We follow all the instructions shown on the display.
You may need to find out the date when the iPad was activated for several reasons:
- When purchasing a used device, to find out the actual lifespan of its use;
- Is the iPad still under warranty? It is important to remember that the warranty for Apple devices begins at the time of activation, not purchase.
To find out when your iPad was activated, you will need to know its serial number, which can be found in two ways:
- Method number 1. Using the iTunes menu with the tablet connected, find your device and click on it. The serial number will be displayed in the gadget information.
- Method number 2. Using the iOS menu, go to “ Settings
” - “
About this device
”, where the information we need is located, which can not only be viewed, but also copied to the clipboard.
To find out the information we are looking for, you need to visit a special page on the Apple website and enter the iPad serial number in the form on it. Next, click on “ Check”
».
Find out the manufacturing date of the iPad
There is a special service on the Internet with which you can find out the production date of any Apple gadget. To do this, follow the link and enter the device serial number into the available form. Now we are interested in the following lines:
- Production year - year of manufacture of the Apple device;
- Production week - week of production.
Activation of the iPad is required, otherwise it will be impossible to fully use the tablet. This process is almost the same for all Apple products. In this article we will tell you how to activate your iPad, we will also look at common causes of activation/registration failures if your iPad does not want to activate.
Reasons why you can't activate your iPhone
Activation lock set
You may have trouble activating if the iPhone you're using is still locked to another iCloud account with Activation Lock. Next, we will look at the solution to how to fix the “Unable to activate iPhone” error in this situation when starting the smartphone.
The activation server may be unavailable

How to activate iPhone without SIM card
Step 4: Once all the settings are completed, your iPhone will be activated successfully. Finally, you just need to click “Get Started” to control your new device. Tenorshare 4uKey is an iPhone activation and unlocking tool that allows you to activate and unlock your iPhone without a SIM card. This is the most effective and easiest way to activate iPhone X/8/8Plus/7/7Plus/6s/6/5s.

Video: what to do if you couldn’t activate your iPhone or iPad
If one of the above errors occurs while updating or activating your device, change the Wi-Fi network, restart the device, activate and update it through iTunes, or go through the recovery process. If none of the proposed methods help, and you are sure that Apple’s servers are working when the error occurs, then take your device to the service center to get help from a qualified specialist. But it is better to first consult with Apple support - https://support.apple.com/ru-ru, describing in detail the problem that arose and the methods that did not help resolve it.

How to fix iPhone activation errors
wait a bit
It's possible that the servers at Apple are busy (especially if there's a new iPhone or an iOS update). Check the status of the Apple activation server by visiting the Apple system status page here. LINK https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/
Remove the SIM card and reinsert it
It is possible that the SIM card is not seated in the SIM tray correctly, so insert it and check if this has changed. Now let's move on to other ways to fix the “Unable to activate iPhone” error.
Reset your iPhone
How you reset or reset your iPhone depends on the model. With older iPhone models, you can hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons together for about 10 seconds. With the iPhone 7 and 8 the process is different in that the Home button is a sensor that depends on the system and if the software is functioning then the button does its job, so to speak. And with the iPhone X, the process is different because there is no Home button.
Unlocking the lock
The purpose of Activation Lock is to keep your iPhone and the data on it safe if your iPhone is stolen.
If the phone you're trying to activate has an activation lock, it may still be locked by a previous user (perhaps a used model). To turn off Activation Lock, you'll need to enter the previous user's Apple ID and password, or have them sign into Find My iPhone and remove that iPhone from their iCloud account. Alternatively, you can call AppleCare or go to an Apple Store and as long as you can provide proof of ownership and Apple can confirm it's your iPhone, they can remove Activation Lock for you.
Make sure you don't have a locked iPhone
If your iPhone is locked to a specific mobile network, you won't be able to use a SIM card from another network. The previous network must unlock your iPhone so you can use it with the new carrier's SIM card.
Check if your WiFi network is working
Try an alternative WiFi network if you can block Apple's servers from being blocked (if you don't have a WiFi network, connect your iPhone to your Mac or PC and use iTunes, see next step).
Try activating your iPhone through iTunes
Below are the steps you should take if you want to try activating your iPhone through iTunes:
- Make sure iTunes is up to date.
- Turn off your iPhone and connect it to your computer via a USB cable.
- Turn on your iPhone and it should launch iTunes to open (or open iTunes if it doesn't).
- Once iTunes detects your iPhone, it will ask you to follow several steps to activate your iPhone.
- If it doesn't happen automatically, select your device in the left pane and you should see how to activate your iPhone.
- Sign in to your Apple ID and click Continue.
- Call your carrier
If none of the above resolves the issue, please contact your retailer for advice. And if they can't solve the problem...
Three ways to reset your iPad password if you forgot
In case of early synchronization of iPad with iTunes on a computer, for example, transferring music, video files, etc., you need to use your PC. However, if you don't sync before you lose your password, all data on your iPad will be deleted.
And now, actually, how to reset the password on the iPad:
1. Connect the device to your PC and log into the iTunes program.
2. Now force restart your device (press and hold the Home button and the side (or top) button simultaneously). Then hold them down until the recovery mode screen appears.
3. Select the "restore" function. If this procedure takes more than 15 minutes, you will need to repeat all these steps from the beginning.
4. After recovery, you can set up your device and use it as usual.
If the iPad you're using has been synced with iTunes before, you can easily get all your data back, even if you decide to erase all passwords and information on your iPad. Here are simple steps on how to erase an iPad if you forgot your password:
1. Connect your device to the computer where you once synchronized.
2. Launch iTunes on your PC. When prompted to enter your password, connect your iPad to someone else's computer where you also synced.
- 5 ways to unlock your iPad if you forgot your password
3. Next, you should use the recovery mode.
4. Wait while iTunes syncs with your device and completes the backup.
5. When iTunes completes this short process, select “Restore Device” from the panel.
6. While the iPad recovery begins, the iOS system will open a setup window. Select "Restore from copy".
7. Now select your device in the utility on your PC. View the creation date as well as the size of a specific backup. Find the required file.
The easiest option to deal with the passcode is to use the iCloud method to reset the iPad. The Find My iPad feature allows us to reboot the iPad remotely. This "ability" was originally used to make sure that anyone who found or stole your Apple tablet did not have the right to obtain any of your personal information. Naturally, for this action you need to enable My iPad. If you don't know how to enable this app, follow this step-by-step guide to find your iPad on the list:
1. Enter www.icloud.com in your web browser.
2. Click on "Find My iPhone". When the list appears, click "All devices" at the top and click on the iPad tablet icon.
- How to reset an iPhone to factory settings yourself: methods
3. Once your device is selected, a window will appear in the top left corner. In this window, you will notice three buttons "Play Sound", "Lost Mode" (which locks the iPad) and "Erase iPad".
4. Make sure the device name above these buttons is your iPad and no other device.
5. Click the Erase iPad button and then follow the instructions. He will ask you to confirm your choice. Afterwards, the process of completely clearing the data will begin.
Your iPad must have a 100% charge and be connected to the Internet. Otherwise it won't work.
Your Apple ID password protects the privacy of your personal information stored in iCloud (such as your Email address). Your passcode also protects your ability to find or remotely wipe your device using Find My iPhone. You should change your password regularly to better protect your information.
Using Apple services is reliable because you are using the advice of the company's manufacturers. But such a system will not always provide you with such a desired and quick result. If you have already encountered the problem of unlocking your iPad, but did not like the lengthy process itself, we recommend that you use an equally safe option – download Tenorshare 4uKey. This program can remove a forgotten password in one click, within a few minutes. But do not forget about the most important thing - all important information on the device will be destroyed after removing the password. Once you've been able to remove your iPad passcode, your next task is to set up your iPad in a new way, change your passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID. If you used iTunes or iCloud and made copies there, you can easily restore all your personal data on your iPad.
We provide you with brief instructions on how to reset the password code on iPad:
- How to delete an account on iPhone 4s
1. Launch the 4ukey program on your computer. Connect the iPad to the PC via a USB cable. Follow the instructions to put the iPad into recovery mode.
2. When the program recognizes your device, click “Start” to remove and erase the passcode on iPad.
3. Then download the iOS firmware package using the Internet.
4. Once the firmware package is downloaded to your computer, click “Start Unlocking” to resume iPad operation, but without the passcode.
5. Once your iPad is back online, your old passcode will be lost. Now you can start setting up your device.
Thus, panic should not overwhelm you when you lose your personal data. Online services give you the opportunity not only to increase the amount of memory on your devices, but also to create an online storage of all the necessary information for you.
How to avoid problems in the future
Activation is required not only when purchasing a gadget, but also in some other situations. Usually users do not have problems with this. But in some cases the risk may increase:
If the iPad had a previous owner, but the connection with it was lost. In this case, activation is difficult and sometimes impossible
To prevent this from happening, you need to be careful when buying gadgets that have already had an owner. In this case, it is necessary that he transfer all the necessary data about the phone to the new owner. Sometimes problems can be caused by incorrect firmware or the use of non-standard software.
It is advisable to make copies regularly and store them in iCloud or iTunes. This will make it possible to restore data if necessary if problems arise.
Activation allows iPad users to fully use their gadgets. If you configure it correctly and avoid problematic situations, this will allow you to use Apple technology with virtually no restrictions.

The iPhone could not be activated – is the server to blame or...
In fact, failure can occur for various reasons. And the right decision would be to check everything in order, let's go!
- Check if the SIM card is inserted and is it working? The advice is, of course, very obvious, but anything can happen.
- Make sure once again that you have access to the Internet.
- Apple servers are unavailable - how to check their status at the moment? This often happens on days when new versions of iOS are released. Many people around the world are trying to get new firmware as quickly as possible, and the servers simply cannot withstand such an influx of people. In this case, you just need to wait...
- Please use a different internet connection. Some Wi-Fi networks may be configured to block access to Apple servers.
- Use iTunes to activate (be sure to update to the latest version!)
- Do a hard reset on your iPhone or iPad. Hold down the Home and Power buttons - do not release them until the iPhone turns off.
By the way, the cause of the Activation Error may also be the fact that a beta version of the firmware was installed on the iPhone, and the device was not registered in the developer program. In this case, the error text will be like this:
This device is not registered as part of the iPhone Developer Program…
In this case, you need to go to the Apple developer portal (developer.apple.com) and register the gadget.
As you can see, the reason why the iPhone fails upon activation can be a variety of situations.
From the banal – lack of Internet, to the very complex – modem failure and the newly created “iOS 11 syndrome”. And if the first ones can be solved quite simply (wait, change the SIM card, etc.), then the second (“hardware” problems) can only be corrected with the participation of a competent service center specialist. But I sincerely hope that this is not your case.
