Alarm, clock, stopwatch and timer settings on Xiaomi

How to set an alarm on your phone, select volume and melody, repeat and auto-sleep?
How to use the clock and add another time zone? How to use a stopwatch? Why do you need a timer and how to set it? In this article, we will look at the basic settings of the alarm clock, clock, stopwatch and timer using the example of a Xiaomi smartphone. Depending on the phone brand, the settings may vary slightly.

Where is the Xiaomi alarm clock?

There is a Clock widget on the desktop. By touching it, you will be taken to the application, where at the top you will see a list of functions: “Alarm”, “Clock”, “Stopwatch” and “Timer”. Accordingly, choose what you need.

If the widget is not visible on the main screen, then just go to the “Tools” menu and find the corresponding icon in it.

Why doesn't my Android alarm go off?

If the alarm does not go off on Android, the reason for this may be errors in the system or the operation of third-party applications that automatically terminate active processes in the system in order to save RAM.

Why is citramon banned in Europe? Why doesn't cauliflower produce heads? Why do Turks confess their love? Why does a harp have colored strings? Why do balsam leaves have sticky leaves? Why do beavers have strong teeth?

How to choose a melody

Among the advantages of alarm clocks built into the MIUI 9 firmware, it is worth noting that the sounding composition can either be left by default or set your own.

To do this, click on the “Melody” menu of the Xiaomi alarm clock, after which you will be taken to the selected folder. When the appropriate melody is selected, confirm your action by clicking “OK”. In a similar way, you can select music tracks in other Xiaomi devices, including the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 smart alarm clock. If you need additional guarantee that you will hear a signal, you can use the “Vibrate when signal” function.

How to set up a regular alarm clock in Mi fit

1

Go to the Mi fit :

2

Go to the "Notifications" at the bottom of the screen:

3

Select "Alarm" :

4

At the bottom of the screen, click on the “Add” :

Set the parameters (you can read their description under the picture) and click “ OK ” at the top of the screen to save the alarm:

  • The first item “snooze mode” means “persistence (snooze) mode”, that is, if you turn off the alarm in the morning and continue to sleep, your mi band will remind you after 10 minutes that you need to wake up. To disable this function in the morning, long press the button on the mi band (to simply turn on the alarm, press the button once).
  • The second point in Chinese means repetition. By clicking on this item, you can select the days of the week when this alarm will go off.
  • At the bottom of the screen, use swipes (moving your fingers up and down) to select the alarm time.

How to choose the repeat frequency

The function of selecting the frequency of application activation is very convenient. Thus, it is possible to turn it on once, only on weekdays or weekends, the required days of the week, or turn it on on an ongoing basis. It’s easy to determine the appropriate frequency; just go to the “Repeat” submenu, and then tap “OK” again.

Stopwatch

The stopwatch allows you to time the execution of some action with the ability to record “checkpoints”/notices.

For example, I have several checkpoints over time. To set a point, click on the flag on the left. To pause the stopwatch, click on the pause button on the right.

  • 00:17.72
  • 00:52.70
  • 01:00.81

The measurement error is hundredths of a second.

How to turn on sound, decrease/increase volume

If you notice that under the image of the clock there is an inscription “Alarm sound is disabled,” then even with the correct settings, you will not hear the sound (except for the vibration alert, subject to its prior activation).

There are two ways to solve the problem:

  1. By pressing the volume button. A menu will appear on the display, which will present three options for volume settings for the call, the player and the alarm clock itself. As the slider moves from left to right, the volume level will increase.
  2. Through the "Settings" menu. Here you should find “Sound and vibration”, and then proceed to determining the alarm volume.

ten reasons NOT to buy Xiaomi products. company device problems

Xiaomi smartphones are fast only on paper

If you use Xiaomi devices as a dialer and play 2D games, then you will not notice any problems with the smooth operation of the shell and the Android system as a whole. However, when playing heavier toys with cool graphics, stuttering cannot be avoided. This problem again applies to smartphones with Mediatek Helio processor. This drawback is confirmed by users of even the recent new Redmi Pro, which has the most advanced Helio X25 on board. In Antutu, this chipset easily outperforms the Snapdragon 650, gaining eighty-five,000 points against seventy-five,000 for the American. However, this does not save gamers from strange fps drops in a game like Tanks. Moreover, the famous game Real Racing 3, which runs without problems on devices 4 years old, is also slowing down, gaining 18.20 thousand parrots in Antutu. This picture is unlikely to please not only mobile gamers, but also ordinary users. By the way, some games on Mediatek Helio either launch every other time or don’t run at all.

Software shell

If Xiaomi does not copy Apple's design, this does not mean that the MIUI shell is also unique. If you have ever held both devices of American and Chinese origin together (or at least watched a comparison of the two devices), then you will understand what we are talking about. There is no need to talk about 100% copying of the appearance of iOS, but many elements of the system, especially the design style of folders, application icons and menu items in settings are almost identical to those of iOS. By the way, many other Chinese manufacturers are obsessed with being like Apple in this regard, and one gets the feeling that Chinese vendors, unfortunately, cannot come up with anything unique.

A controversial flagship

Currently, the most advanced Xiaomi device is the Mi5 smartphone, which in terms of characteristics is practically not inferior to the flagship Galaxy S7/S7 Edge. The smartphone costs half as much as its competitors from A-brands, but is everything so good? Xiaomi Mi5, at first glance, is an ideal phone, but real owners, after using it for some time, note that the device likes to freeze from time to time, think for a long time when opening an application, unlock with a long delay, etc. Inside the Xiaomi Mi5 there is a cool Snapdragon 820, but MIUI bugs sometimes make you doubt that there is a flagship processor installed under the hood. Also, the advanced Xiaomi Mi5, like other devices of the brand, has a lot of firmware and several versions of hardware, so this is worth considering when purchasing it.

Autonomous operation

Xiaomi devices run out of battery quickly. The only exception is the Redmi Note three Pro and several other devices from the Redmi line running on Snapdragon processors. The rapid discharge of Xiaomi smartphones is mainly associated with the use of Mediatek Helio processors, since they are still poorly optimized for games and applications, and are themselves more power-hungry than chips from Qualcomm. For comparison, Redmi Note three Pro with a more powerful Snapdragon six hundred and fifty processor lasted ten hours in screen mode, while the regular Redmi Note three with Mediatek Helio X10 showed a result of eight and a half hours in a similar test. This is as much as a 15% difference in battery life, which is a lot.

Rebooting the device

How to fix broken buttons on a Xiaomi Redmi smartphone

The easiest and fastest repair method is to replace the cable along with the buttons, but this requires a spare module.

The cheapest, but most labor-intensive, is disassembly, cleaning the contacts and checking the circuits for soldering quality.

If complex cleaning is available for the most part to employees of service centers and private workshops (due to the availability of the required tools and devices), then the first procedure (with a simple replacement of the unit) is quite possible to do it yourself.

  • Xiaomi Redmi button cable (depending on the device model, the cost ranges from 200-400 rubles),
  • A set of screwdrivers for working with small screws,
  • Tweezers,
  • Plastic spatula (mediator),
  • Suction cup (not for all smartphone models).

Sequence of actions using the example of Xiaomi Redmi 3:

  • The device is turned off, the SIM card is removed from the slot along with the tray.
  • Using a spatula, pry the lid around the entire perimeter and remove it from the body.
  • The protective indicator will be removed (it is also a moisture indicator; when exposed to water it turns pink).
  • In the upper left corner (on the side of the buttons), unscrew the holding screws and remove the protective casing combined with the antenna.
  • Access to the key block opens. The cable is disconnected and the button block is removed.
  • Replaced with a new/working one.
  • Reassembly is carried out in reverse order.

On other models, the disassembly process may differ, for example, on Xiaomi Redmi 4X a suction cup may be needed, and the case and display are additionally held in place by two screws. Xiaomi Redmi 3S has an antenna cable from the cover to the body, etc.

Other nuances

Inoperability of the buttons may be due to water getting inside the case. In this case, a deeper disassembly and comprehensive cleaning of the device using cleaning agents (solvents, alcohol, etc.) is necessary.

After returning it to its place, the phone can be turned on using the buttons (in some cases, such a procedure can even “revive” the key block without any other actions).

We clean the contacts and put the board in place

Even after installing known working buttons, the phone may refuse to turn on. This can happen, for example, because the battery has been completely discharged and the internal protection of the controller has tripped.

You can access the battery directly (bypassing the controller). After the charge level is restored to the required level, the power-on function can become available again.
