miwifi.com and 192.168.31.1 – enter the Xiaomi router settings

Xiaomi produces not only phones, but also a wide range of gadgets, including a portable USB Wi-Fi adapter for computers.

The gadget is convenient, especially for computers in ordinary cases; as a rule, they do not have a built-in Wi-Fi adapter, but there are many free USB ports.

Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi adapter is a miniature wireless network card that costs about $5.

Connecting the Mi network card is not a problem, but Windows does not have standard drivers that are suitable for it, and therefore, before connecting, you should download the driver and application that will control the operation of Wi-Fi.

How to install driver for Xiaomi Mini USB Wi-Fi adapter

  1. Use the link above to download the archive.
  2. Unpack the archive into a folder
  3. Inside the archive there is one folder and one installation file miwifi_setup_2.3.759.exe

Run the file, a program installation window will open, which will simultaneously install the driver. Don't be alarmed, the program is in Chinese, but you don't need to know it, because... You only need to press one button to complete the installation, which is circled in blue. Before clicking the button, remember the path where the program will be copied, usually this is C:Program Files (x86)XiaoMiMiWiFi

Let me guess, you wanted to go into the settings of your Xiaomi router, but something went wrong. Did you guess right? In this article I will try to show in detail how to log into the control panel of the router at miwifi.com, or 192.168.31.1. Simply put, how to open the settings page in the browser. This page is called the web interface. For some reason it is often called a personal account. Although these are different things, that’s not what we’re talking about today.

And so, you can go into the settings of the Xiaomi router using the IP address 192.168.31.1 (this address is set by default), or through the miwifi.com hostname. This is the address indicated on the router case:

There is absolutely no way without this. To perform the first setup of the router, you need access to the web interface. To change the password, or some other parameters, you also need to go to the control panel. Of course, there is no need to go there every day, but still.

I will show the example of my Xiaomi mini WiFi router. But following these instructions, you can also enter the settings of the Xiaomi WiFi MiRouter 3, Mi WiFi 3c, Xiaomi Mi WiFi Router 3G, Mi WiFi Router HD, Pro R3P and Xiaomi Mi Nano router.

At the end of this article I will try to answer the most popular questions on this topic. For example: how to open settings in Russian or English, what password to enter when logging in, and I will also share links to other useful articles.

How to access the Xiaomi web interface at miwifi.com or 192.168.31.1?

First of all, we connect to the router. You can connect it to a computer or laptop using a network cable. But, since Xiaomi routers do not come with a network cable (at least with the mini model), this is not very relevant. But just in case, I’ll show you how to do it (please note that you may have the Internet connected to the blue port, I just didn’t have it connected at the time of taking the photo).

Or connect to the Wi-Fi network from your laptop, phone, tablet, etc. If the router is new, the network will have the factory name and is not password protected.

After connecting, open any browser on your computer or mobile device (I recommend standard Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge) and go to miwifi.com (you can type https:// to get https://miwifi.com).

If the settings at this address are not available and you see an error, then try going to 192.168.31.1 . You can also type from https://

We enter the address in the address bar of the browser, and not in the search bar. Otherwise, instead of the control panel, Yandex or Google will open with search results.

If the router has not yet been configured, a window will open asking you to install the program on your mobile device. We skip it and move on to setting up the router. You can look at the example of setting up Xiaomi mini WiFi.

If your router is already configured, you will be asked for a password. This is the password you (or someone else) set during the first setup. This is not the password for the Wi-Fi network (but they may be the same).

And after authorization (if you enter the password correctly), a web interface will appear.

If you have forgotten the password for your Xiaomi router, you will have to reset all parameters to factory settings. You will find a link to the instructions below.

Login problems, password, control panel language and other information

We have already examined the process of accessing the web interface. I would also like to answer a few questions and explain some nuances. As practice shows, it is not always possible to enter the router settings without problems.

  • What should I do if the settings page does not open? An error appears on the Xiaomi website or search engine. Be sure to check your connection to the router. Whether it's via cable or Wi-Fi. Please note that you must be connected to the Xiaomi router only. Maybe you connected via cable, but the laptop is also connected to some Wi-Fi network. Try changing your browser. Pay attention to which line you enter the miwifi.com address. Try going to 192.168.31.1. And if possible, log in from another device. You can also reset your router to factory settings.
  • How to open miwifi.com in Russian or English? The language of the control panel does not depend in any way on what address or how you enter it. It depends on the firmware. I’ll say right away that there is no original Xiaomi firmware in Russian. The control panel can be either in Chinese (like on my Xiaomi mini WiFi) or, at best, in English (you can try updating the firmware to English). If the Internet is already working through the router, then the settings can be transferred in the Chrome browser, or Yandex Browser.

    The translation is not perfect and the appearance of the page is a little spoiled, but it is much more convenient to customize.

  • What password should I enter when entering settings? I already wrote about this in the article. When you go into the router settings for the first time, you will not be prompted to enter a password. On the contrary, during the first setup it must be invented and installed. In the future, when you access miwifi.com, you will need to enter a password that protects the settings. And if you forget it, you will have to reset it to factory settings.

That's all. I look forward to your feedback and questions in the comments. Best wishes!

MiWiFi is an application for configuring Xiaomi routers.

Reset Xiaomi Mi Router to factory settings

In the most extreme case, when you can’t get into the router settings either via WiFi, or via IP, or from a computer, or from a phone, there is only one way out - reset the Xiaomi router to factory settings. This is done quite simply. When the device is turned on, we find a small hole on the back of it - this is the “Reset” button.

By clicking on it you will reset your Xiaomi settings. Attention! After the reset, you will have to configure the device again, since it will not work at all without this.

We take a paperclip, press the button with it and hold it for 10 seconds. If the reset occurs, the device will reboot. The color of the diode will change from blue to yellow and the router will start up at the factory settings.

Settings and functionality

You can download MiWiFi for Android from the official market and on our website - the download link is located under the article. Before synchronizing between the router and the user’s smartphone (or tablet), you should connect the portable device to the Wi-Fi distributed by the router. After this, you need to proceed directly to authorization or registration - which of these points you have to “overcome” depends on whether you have a Mi account.

The process of setting up a router can be called quite intuitive, because it is accompanied by the use of a step-by-step wizard in Russian, in which it is impossible to get confused. MiWiFi offers users the following functions:

  • setting up a Xiaomi router and further monitoring its operation;
  • viewing connection speed data;
  • exercising control over devices connected to the router - obtaining information about them and the traffic used;
  • viewing the free space on the router’s built-in disk;
  • managing files stored on disk;

Additional features we mentioned earlier include external hard drive management. Sharing routers and a disk allows you to create a cloud storage into which it will be convenient to export files from your smartphone when it is connected to your home Wi-Fi.

How to set up an Internet connection

After logging into the system, you can proceed directly to setting up the Internet. However, the first difficulty that users encounter is the lack of Russian language in the web interface. To Russify the menu, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to the router admin panel via Google Chrome.
  2. In the browser settings, find the “Extension” tab, among the available ones, select “RUMIWIFI”.
  3. After installing it, the Xiaomi logo will be displayed at the top of the screen on the right side. To activate the extension, just click on it. The text will be translated automatically.

To translate into Russian, you must have an Internet connection.

Note! To use more extensive functionality of the router, it is recommended to install alternative versions of the software, for example, Padavan.

Setting up a password

Upon initial startup, the system immediately prompts the user to change the default login and password. But, if during the use of the device such a need arises again, this is done as follows:

  1. Follow the path: “Setting” - “Wi-Fi Setting”.
  2. In the drop-down list in the corresponding frames, enter the old password once and the new one twice.

For changes to take effect, they must be saved. After which it is recommended to reboot the router.

Setting up network sharing

Shared access can be configured, roughly speaking, in a few clicks. The procedure takes several minutes if you strictly follow the given algorithm.

  1. If the user has not previously been authorized, you must log in. Go through the path: “Settings” - “Network”. It is necessary to indicate those parameters that are specified in the contract concluded with the local provider.
  2. If every time you access the Internet, the system generates a new IP address, including DNS, then you must activate the DCHP connection. The DNS auto-selection option should also function.

At the end, to connect, you need to check the auto-assignment of the port as a MAC address, WAN. If the contract specifies a different MAC address, you must enter it manually.

Important! If for some reason the contract does not contain the necessary information, you need to call 24-hour technical support. Company employees will provide all the necessary information.
