Forgot your Apple Watch password? Here's how to reset it without losing data

Apple Watch has become quite popular despite its considerable cost. Many will agree that despite the presence of a fairly large number of functions and many other advantages, entering a password on such watches is not always convenient. It often happens that they are blocked, so the question of how to quickly unlock an Apple Watch is of interest to many of its users.

In this article we will try to find the answer to this important question and offer several options for unlocking them.

Unlocking your Apple Watch is possible using any of two options:

  • Unlocking using the watch itself;
  • Unlocking using iPhone.

How to reset Apple Watch via iPhone

Even new Apple Watch models are not immune to malfunctions. It happens that sensors begin to malfunction and thus confuse certain mobile applications that use their readings. Before contacting a service center or workshop to fix the problem, you can try a less radical method - reboot your Apple Watch, resetting it to its original settings.

Resetting Apple will help if your device freezes

If you have access to your iPhone, resetting the settings can be done through it without any problems. To remove a previously entered password for your watch, you should use the services of the Apple Watch software. After deleting the password, you will have to configure the gadget again and restore the data, using a copy stored in reserve for this purpose.

Important! During the entire reset and restore session, you will have to keep your phone as close to your Apple Watch as possible.

The step-by-step algorithm of operations is as follows:

  1. Launch the Apple Watch application and go to the “My Watch” tab.
  2. In the “Basic” item, go to the “Reset” tab.
  3. Run the “Erase content and settings” task and select this menu item again. At this point, you may be asked to enter your Apple ID password.
  4. If we are talking about the varieties of Apple Watch GPS + Cellular, then they provide an option when it is possible to save or delete the existing tariff plan from the cellular operator. It depends on whether there are plans to reconnect the Apple pair with the iPhone. If yes, then you will have to leave the tariff plan. In the case where it does not make sense to reconnect the pair, the existing tariff can be deleted. If you don’t plan to create any pairing at all (with a phone, with another watch), then you can even cancel your subscription to the existing communication tariff through your cellular operator.
  5. After the process is completed, the Applewatch settings should be performed again. When the system prompts you to do so, you will need to select recovery using a backup copy.

By activating the “Erase content and settings” menu section, the old password is deleted

⇡#Testing methodology

Iometer 1.1.0 RC1

  1. Sequential reading/writing of data in blocks from 512 bytes to 2 MB and a request queue depth of 4 (typical depth for desktop tasks). The test trial with blocks of each size continues for 30 s. The result is a graph of data transfer speed versus block size. The test with blocks of each size lasts for one minute, so the results obtained are valid only for accessing data at the “beginning” of the disk.
  2. Random reading/writing of data across the entire disk volume in blocks from 512 bytes to 2 MB and a request queue depth of 4. The test with blocks of each size continues for 30 seconds. Block boundaries are aligned relative to the ruler in 4 KB increments.
  3. Response time. Random reading/writing of data is performed across the entire volume of the disk in blocks of 512 bytes and a request queue depth of 4. Since the test runs for 10 minutes, the disk buffer is filled, which makes it possible to evaluate the established response time of the drive. The data blocks are also aligned to the 4K byte markup.
  4. Multi-threaded load. From one to four copies of the load-generating utility (workers, in Iometer terminology) work with the disk at the same time. Each worker performs sequential reading/writing of 64 KB blocks with a request queue depth of 1. Workers have access to non-overlapping address spaces of 100 GB, which are located close to each other in the disk volume, starting from sector zero. The aggregate productivity of all workers is measured.

PCMark 7

A synthetic test that emulates the load of real applications and various patterns of PC resource usage. The benchmark is installed on the main storage device of the stand. On the tested drive, a single partition is created in the NTFS file system for the entire available volume, and the Secondary Storage test is run in PCMark 7. Both the final score and the speed at which individual subtests are completed are taken into account as test results.

How to do a Hard Reset on Apple Watch

Notifications do not arrive on Apple Watch and iPhone

Hard Reset Apple Watch is a complete, hard reset, hardware reboot. It is most often performed when software problems occur with the device. The procedure involves a complete reboot of the device’s operating system, but personal data and settings are not deleted.

Note! Performing a hard reset is indicated for the device regularly. If there are obvious problems in the functioning of the device, resetting the settings is simply necessary.

To perform a Hard Reset, you need:

  1. Take the watch in your hands in such a way that it is convenient to freely press the “Home” button and the side button with your fingers.
  2. Press both buttons at the same time and hold them for 10 seconds until the watch screen goes dark and the operating system begins to reboot.

Operator assistance

Help desk specialists will help you find out what number your loved one has. We have already provided a list of contacts above. Use the list, find your operator and call the hotline. Make your way through the voice menu, find access to specialists - after the specialist answers, voice your problem and get an answer. You most likely won’t need your passport information, but it’s still worth preparing a passport just in case.

What to do if you forgot your Apple Watch password

If the password is completely forgotten or it was entered incorrectly too many times, the device will be disabled. You will have to reset the settings, remove the forgotten code, and then perform the installation using a backup copy of the program. During the restoration process, the content and settings on the watch will be deleted and replaced with data and settings taken from the backup copy.

Carrying out a certain sequence of actions, the pair is broken

Note! If the “Erase data” function was launched, then after 10 unsuccessful attempts to enter the code, the data on the device will be erased.

Resetting your Apple watch to factory settings may be necessary in various situations: when you sell it, when you lose passwords, or if the device is not working properly. This can be done either with or without an iPhone. In addition, it is recommended to perform a hard reset regularly, and if there are certain problems in the operation of the device, it is simply indicated.

Testing external drive performance

My external hard drive Seagate Expansion Portable Drive 2 TB (STEA2000400) is under warranty (2 years), so I did not disassemble it and test the drive itself separately. All measurements were carried out with the device as a whole, connecting it to a USB 2.0 port (unfortunately, there was no other port at hand at the time of testing).

In theory, USB 2.0 can achieve a transfer speed of 40 MB/sec. True, I have never come across flash drives or disks that would exceed the 30 MB/sec mark. This is what happened this time too.

The popular testing utility CrystalDiskMark showed linear read speeds of about 30 MB/sec and 24 MB/sec write speed.

I was quite satisfied with these results, since the disk will be used as an external drive together with the Zyxel Keenetic Viva router (not to be confused with the Keenetic Viva KN-1910), whose data exchange speed via the USB 2.0 port does not exceed 17 MB/sec.

Automatic stop of magnetic disk

The disk can automatically stop the spindle (a single axis in the hard disk on which magnetic plates are installed) when there is no activity, that is, when there is no writing or reading. He does this independently without the participation of the software of the device to which he is connected.

By default this functionality is disabled. You can use it using proprietary Seagate software, for example Seagate_Dashboard:
