Connecting jbl headphones to your phone

Connecting jbl headphones to your phone is quite simple, so the process should not cause any difficulties, however, for understanding, we recommend reading the instructions that come with the purchased equipment.

Bluetooth headphones use a special built-in sensor to pair with a phone, computer or tablet; to activate it, you just need to turn on the power on the headset. Jbl headphones have a special power button on the body; you need to press it and hold it for a few seconds.

When activation is completed, the indicator located next to the button should blink, this will mean that the device is ready to connect to the phone. All you have to do is configure the operating parameters on your phone. Since the connection on Android and iPhone is significantly different, it is worth considering each of the headset connection options separately.

Connecting to Android

Nowadays, two systems compete in the electronic device market, which are fundamentally different from each other. Let's start with the most budget and common version of Android phones. To turn on the headset on an Android phone, you need to do the following:

  1. After turning on the headset, go to the settings section on your phone, to do this, click on the gear image or open the corresponding section on the main screen by pulling the curtain with the taskbar down.
  2. Go to the “wireless networks” section and find the “Bluetooth” item there, activate this service. To do this, click on the Bluetooth icon or drag the slider to the active position.
  3. The system will begin automatically searching for devices within the Bluetooth signal range, so it is better to keep the devices close to pair with the headset.
  4. If everything was done correctly, the desired headphone model with the appropriate name will appear in the list; now we connect to the required headset.
  5. The sound will be broadcast to the headphones; if you wish, you can open the headset settings and see the characteristics, as well as the battery level. When you turn it on again, the devices will be paired automatically.

Why don't wired headphones connect to my phone?

In the case of wired devices, the situation changes greatly, since the method of signal transmission is different, and therefore the problems are different. We can conditionally divide them into 2 categories: software and physical. We will consider both niches separately.

Problems with the software

Often the headphones do not connect to the phone due to a software glitch. Application conflicts, system errors, firmware bugs, applications not working - all this can lead to sound problems. Mostly, the problem can be resolved on its own after replacing the application, resetting the settings, or flashing the gadget.

What to do if the phone does not see the headphones due to the fault of the software:

  • Checking application permissions. There are 2 potential culprits: the required privileges were not granted to the audio player or they were received by an application that blocks the sound. You should go to the device settings and in the permissions section see which programs have access to sound control. If there is no player among them, that is the answer to the question. The headphones are detected, but sound is not transmitted to them.
  • We remove temporary files, viruses and change the audio player. Initially, you should run CCleaner, which will delete the cache and temporary application data. Then we can use the free Avast antivirus to clean the system of viruses. Finally, install another media player on Android from Google Play.

  • We reset the gadget's settings, this leads to the complete deletion of all user data (except for those located in the memory of the flash drive). The smartphone acquires the same state as when it was first turned on. You need to go to Recovery mode (press and hold the volume up and lock buttons when the phone is off). Here you need to select the Hard Reset option.
  • Reflashing Android. This is the last correction option from this perspective, which we do not describe in detail here.

Hardware failure

Typically, such problems are difficult to correct manually, since the problem is in the physical condition of the phone or components. Quite often, the phone refuses to connect to the headphones due to careless use of the smartphone. Falls, moisture, frequent use of the gadget with dirty hands - all this falls under negligence. The only case when it is possible to quickly and easily restore the functionality of the port is if it was contaminated. An ordinary cotton swab, needle or match works well to remove accumulated debris.

Other reasons why headphones on your phone do not work:

  • The headset is not compatible with the phone. Some manufacturers follow the shady path of increasing sales of their own accessories. They simply change the positive contact and ground. This leads to the fact that only branded headphones work on the smartphone. Most headphones from Aliexpress and other stores do not work with this option.
  • There is no contact at the 3.5mm port. Contact can be prevented by dirt, dust, debris, splinters of wood, glass, etc. The worst thing is if the problem is caused by water, because this can lead to malfunctions of other components of the smartphone. Another cause could be simple damage to the nest. Cleaning, restoring contacts or replacing the port should help.

  • The audio codec has failed - this is a small chip that converts an analogue to a digital signal, and also does the same in the opposite direction. You can check the problem with the microcircuit by the fact that not only the headphones stop working, but also the speakers, microphone, and communication. If the problem appears after a fall, it is most likely an issue with the audio codec.
  • Headset failure. The contact of the wire near the plug often disappears. Interruption, strong bending, or pressure on the cable can lead to breakage. You'll have to change the cord or buy new headphones, at least it's better than having your phone repaired.

The headphones are supplied in a cardboard box. On the front there is a list of the model’s features, the company logo, the model name and an image of the headphones along with the charging case.

On the reverse side, as usual, the technical characteristics of the device are described. Here we see that the headphones have such features as fast and wireless charging, as well as Deep Bass technology.

The following are supplied with the headphones and charging case:

  • proprietary orange USB-C charging cable;
  • warranty card;
  • instructions;

The instructions are in English, but there are very clear pictures that really illustrate the operation of the device very well.

Appearance

Let's start with the fact that the WAVE300 is sold in four colors: black, white, pink and blue. Actually, the case itself is made of high-quality black plastic. It is really small in size, so you can always hide it in your pocket without any problems.

The charging case lid is held in place by magnets. It is fixed in two positions, that is, closed or open (90 degrees). This means that it does not flop around, as usual, this happens with other models of wireless headphones. But due to the large size of the lid, there is a feeling that it can be accidentally touched and broken when it is in the open position. Ignore the orange sticker.

The headphones themselves are also secured in the case using magnets. The magnets hold well, if you turn the case over, nothing will happen to them, they will remain in place. Markings R (right) and L (left) are not only on the case, but also on the headphones themselves. On the back of the case there is a USB-C connector.

On the front side of the case there is a special recess made to make opening the case easier. On the same notch there is a charge level indicator, which reports the charge status of the charging case. It turns green when the charge level is around 100 percent. If the indicator lights up orange, it means the charge level is about 50%. If it's red, it means the charge is low.

Two contacts for charging the battery in the headphones are located on the bottom, that is, right on the legs. On the outside there is a touch area and an LED that flashes blue when paired with another device. There is also a beautifully designed JBL logo. The headphones look neat in the auricle. There is no feeling that these are “logs” sticking out of the ears.

Connection and control

Wave300TWS is connected in a standard way. Just take the headphones out of the charging case and then turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone. After a while, these headphones will appear in the list and all you have to do is click on them.

The headphones are equipped with touch controls, through which you can:

  • with one touch you can pause the music or, on the contrary, play it;
  • double tap - next song;
  • triple tap - previous song;
  • double tap also allows you to accept/reject a call;
  • During a conversation, you can turn off the microphone by briefly holding the sensor (~2 seconds);

Each earphone performs all the functions listed above. Unfortunately, you cannot adjust the volume level through headphones, so in this case you will have to take out your smartphone. It is also impossible to connect to two devices at the same time, for example, a smartphone and a laptop. To do this, you will first have to disconnect from one device and then connect to the desired one. I also note that the headphones can work both in stereo mode and in mono (alone). In principle, now almost everyone knows how to work in these two modes.

Sound

Let me start with the fact that there is a volume reserve here, since at maximum volume I am far from pleasant listening to music. I usually listen to music in them at 50% volume. By the way, it happened that I turned down the volume (on a smartphone), but the headphones responded to the decrease in volume late and, of course, they cannot be praised for this. If we talk about mid and high frequencies, they are well balanced here. As a normal user (not a professional in sound evaluation), I like to listen to music in them.

JBL promotes the WAVE300 as deep bass headphones. But even I (an ordinary user) noticed that the bass here is not very strong. If you compare it with in-ear models for the same price from the same brand, then I think you can immediately feel the difference. Once again, there is good sound here that will suit most people, but if you are looking for refined sound, then I think you need another option.

Autonomy

The battery capacity in the charging case is 500 mAh, and in each of the headphones the capacity is 40 mAh. Fully charged headphones should last up to 6 hours. If you take into account the time with charging the case, the time will be about 20 hours. The headphones themselves are charged in the case within one hour. The charging case charges to 100% in about two hours. By the way, the charge level of the headphones can be seen in the Bluetooth settings.

Conclusion

JBL WAVE300, I was pleased with these headphones. The main thing is that they cope with all tasks with a bang. I liked their form factor as they do not cause discomfort when worn for long periods of time. It's nice to listen to music, audiobooks and just watch videos. All this “pleasant sound” is lost if they don’t fit perfectly in your ears. I noticed that the shape of the WAVE300 is very similar to the JBL TUNE225 headphones. Today, WAVE300 is sold in large stores for about 3-4 thousand rubles. And if you have the opportunity to evaluate the sound and fit in your ears before purchasing, then be sure to do so.

Control music with button and call answering function

Although JBL Tune 225 TWS are officially sold in Russia, for unknown reasons, the instructions contained in the box do not contain Russian. Therefore, many who do not know English are wondering how to use the control button on the headphones to work with audio tracks, video clips and answer incoming calls. However, the functions of the right and left are different

Left earphone

  • Single short press - skip to the next track or accept an incoming call
  • Double - to the previous one in the playlist
  • 3 second delay - mute or unmute microphone

Right earphone

  • A single short press will pause a track or continue playing music or video. Picking up the phone when a call comes in
  • Double - call a voice assistant, Siri, Google Assistant, Bixby are supported
  • Press for 3 seconds - same as microphone

In mono mode, which will be discussed below, the buttons on both modules work according to the scenario of the right one.
