What is NFC?
- Near Field Communication technology (abbreviated NFC) allows a device (in our case a phone) to connect to an NFC tag (a thin chip with an antenna, usually built into plastic) when they are both close to each other.

- The data transfer speed here is about 400 Kbps, full-duplex information exchange is supported in both directions.
- Using NFC, it is convenient to pay for goods in stores; you just need to bring your NFC-enabled phone to the terminal, and the payment will be made.

How does the Samsung tag work?
The tag’s operating principle is extremely simple, it has Bluetooth 5 LE inside, and at a distance of up to 120 meters it “sees” your or another Galaxy phone. The coordinates of the tag are calculated as the approximate distance to the phone, and the smartphone transmits them to the service.

There are no supported apps for this NFC tag - what does this mean?
The message No supported application for this NFC tag is usually most often found on Samsung phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S5, S6, S7, S9, S10, as well as on the Google Pixel 3a. The message usually appears on phones running Android 10 OS, and is practically not recorded on earlier operating systems.
The main reason for the appearance of the notification we are considering is a card with a built-in NFC tag, which the user keeps in close proximity to his phone (for example, in the same phone case).
Being in close proximity to such a card, the phone’s NFC module detects the card, but, unable to recognize it, displays the error “There are no supported applications for this NFC tag.”
Such a card can be a bank card that is not registered in the Samsung Pay application, a public transport card, a library card, or other types of similar cards with an NFC module built into their body.

Causes
The main reason for the malfunction is that the type of tag set by the developer and the type of reading device do not match. This happens when licenses have not been exchanged between Samsung Galaxy and the developer of the reader. Some developers took this point into account, some did not, so not all services are supported by the phone. The problem also arises due to the short service life of the chip. Solved by replacing it.

The easiest way to resolve the error “There are no supported applications for this NFC tag” is to disable the NFC module in your phone settings. Solution
There are several solutions to this problem, but these are rather half measures. So, users of the Korean brand can:

- switch to another brand, like Xiaomi, who have no problems with this;
- enable Root rights and recode the chip.
The latter option will require special knowledge and the average user will have problems with this. In addition, when you enable advanced features, the Samsung Pay security system will not allow you to use bank cards. But you can try. As a last resort, resetting the settings to factory settings will save the situation:
- In the settings, in the “For Developers” tab, enable Root rights.
- Next, find the file /system/csc/others.xml.

If you don’t want to part with your favorite smartphone, you can consider purchasing a separate Mifare tag.
To use it you need:
- Download the NFC ReTag Free application (you can use other similar software).
- Enable NFS on your phone.
- Go to the downloaded utility.
- Select the desired building, in this case we link the map.
- Then bring your smartphone to the tag.
- The application will catch the signal and connect the tag to the task.
- Glue or put in a case.
Important! The tag will fail if the phone body is metal. If this is the case, it is better to re-glue it onto the case.
Also, there is an easier way. Cut the microchip from the Troika plastic card and simply put it under the smartphone case.
Register your card with Samsung Pay
As we mentioned above, the notification that there is no supported app for a given NFC tag can occur due to unregistered cards. If you only store your bank cards in your wallet, you can register them with Samsung Pay and see if that solves the problem.
