What to do if the built-in flash on your phone does not work. Flash or flashlight not working on Android phone or tablet

Smartphones, which almost every person now has, perform hundreds of different functions, without which we cannot imagine modern life.

The telephone has long ceased to be just a means of communication - now it is: miniature portable computers, sources of information, an entertainment center placed in the hand.

One of the main advantages of smart phones is the ability to take photos and videos that can compete in quality even with material shot on professional cameras.

To do this, the phone has a lot of auxiliary effects and a flash that allows you to achieve the best quality photos even at night.

The problem of a non-working flash, which is often used as a flashlight, is often found even in flagship devices. Let's try to figure out why the flashlight on the phone doesn't work and how to fix this problem.

Why doesn't the flash work?

Users, after rebooting the device, may find that the warning light has become inactive.
This may be due to an internal system glitch in the software. Such errors occur for reasons beyond the control of the iPhone owner. Access to system resources is limited. Users cannot edit operating system files and settings. To fix this, just go to the device settings. You should check if the flash is on when making a call. To do this, in the “Basic” tab, you need to go to “Universal Access”. If the inscription next to the inscription “LED flash for warnings” or “Flash for warnings” is not active, it must be turned on. To do this, move the lever to the right.

The notification light may not work when you reset your iPhone to factory settings. With this action, all settings made by the user previously in the smartphone settings will be reset. To restore them, you should make backup copies to iCloud or iTunes.

Another common reason for the warning light failure may be technical problems. If the device is dropped, the contacts powering the LED lamp may be damaged. To verify that this is the cause, follow these steps:

  1. On the unlocked main screen, swipe up from the bottom frame to activate the hidden menu.
  1. At the bottom left of the new screen there will be an image of a lantern. By clicking on the icon, the LED backlight is activated.

If the lamp does not work after turning on the flashlight, then there is technical damage to the smartphone. To fix them, you should go to a service center. It is not recommended to disassemble the iPhone on your own to repair damage. This can lead to complete failure of the phone.

The flashlight lights up on its own

In this case, the flashlight turns on, and this happens more often than we would like, which is also a problem. This may cause the mobile battery to drain prematurely due to the high energy required to connect the flash.

Buttons are tight

It is possible that the flashlight of our mobile phone is turned on by some combination of buttons or gestures. For example, leave the volume button pressed or shake your mobile phone. If we have these activation methods, we may end up with the flashlight on more than once.

Case or shell

This is one of the most common reasons why we find the flashlight on. Many third party cases may accidentally press the buttons and access the flashlight function. Therefore, we must make sure that none of the buttons fit tightly on this type of case or housing.

What can harm the performance of the honor camera?

It’s not difficult to take the perfect photo with Honor, especially when it comes to the new 10i, 10x, 20s models. This will require the optimal selection of camera mode and settings. But there are a number of reasons that can have a bad effect:

  1. Dust or dirt on the phone lens. Everyone knows how well the Honor 20 takes pictures, but even a small speck of dust on the lens will make everything worse. The problem is solved by wiping with a cloth.
  2. Damage to the lens. The problem is similar, but more complex; for this you will have to replace the glass or module and cover, which will entail additional financial costs.

  3. There is moisture inside the phone. Huawei P20 Pro and other flagships are waterproof, but older gadgets suffer from contact with water; it is better to contact a service center to fix the problem.
  4. Camera malfunction after a fall. In such situations, Honor may not focus or may experience clouding. Replacing the module will help.
  5. Hand movements when shooting. High-quality stabilization is available only in top smartphones, and in simpler versions it is better to shoot on a tripod.
  6. Problems with software settings. There may be many reasons for this, but the best solution is to roll back the phone to factory settings. Read about how to unlock your Honor phone.
  7. Reduced quality of pictures and videos after updating the OS. Sometimes new versions of shells are not yet fully developed, you will have to either wait for the next updates or roll back to the previous version.

If there is no physical damage, and the user is tormented by how poorly the Honor 10 takes pictures, then most likely the problem is due to improper use of the camera. In such situations, setting and using modes will help.

Why doesn't the flashlight on my phone work?

Despite the fact that the flashlight function is basic for any smartphone, it does not work for some users. In this situation, it is recommended to immediately start looking for the cause of the problem. They are divided into:

In the first case, we are talking about reasons related to the flashlight element itself. The LED or contact connecting the flash and the smartphone's motherboard may break.

In the second case, there are even more reasons. For example, sometimes people complain that the flashlight is not activated through the quick access panel because the sensor does not respond to touches. The touchscreen is to blame here.

It also happens that the flashlight does not work even after successfully enabling the corresponding function. Here, most likely, the fault lies with a software glitch of the smartphone. It is possible that a virus or some kind of malicious program has interfered with the operation of the device.

In addition, on some smartphone models it has been repeatedly noticed that the flashlight does not turn on when the charge level is low. This way the device tries to save energy without spending it on the most demanding functions of the gadget.

Using third party flashlights

Programs for activating the flashlight can be downloaded from the Google Market. Such applications are free and quite easy to use. The most common:

  • “LED Flashlight” is a simple, yet functional program. The camera flash or mobile phone screen is used as backlight. The application offers users three main modes. There is a timer setting to automatically turn off the light;
  • Tiny Flashlight is a free program that allows you not only to use standard lighting, but also to customize various sources. The application is quite simple and easy to use;
  • “LED Flashlight HD” is another application that stands out from the general background in that it supports not only light, but also sound components. There is also a timer function for automatic shutdown.

Why doesn't the flashlight work on Android?

If the flashlight does not work on Android, of course, there is a specific reason for this. As you can understand, technology does not stop functioning just like that. You can prevent serious damage if you pay attention to indirect signs.

What to pay attention to:

  • if the flash does not fire the first time;
  • The brightness of the flashlight has decreased significantly;
  • There was a delay in backlight activation.

Why doesn't the flashlight turn on on Android if modern phones have LED flashes? There are plenty of options.

In addition, the cause of the problem may be:

  • an error occurs in the software component of the device;
  • the flashlight on the android has become unusable;
  • water got on the motherboard, resulting in corrosion and failure of some elements;
  • The phone's battery was severely discharged, so the protection turned on and the device independently blocked some functions;
  • burnt diode, low-quality parts, etc.

Causes of failure

The flash may not fire in the following situations:

  • When you press the camera button, the module is activated, but with a delay. The result is that the photo was taken without the necessary backlight.
  • The flashlight works, but the backlight in the camera app does not. The cause of the breakdown is usually a software error.
  • The smartphone battery is discharged below 5%, and on some models - below 10%. In this case, Android disables the ability to enable the module in order to save energy.
  • Poor contact of the connector on the system board or damage to the connector itself. Oxidation of the loop contacts falls into this category.

Turning on flash on iPhone

For the first time, users of Apple's popular smartphones, the iPhone, could observe the flash working on devices of the fourth series. Previous series did not have this component, but users could purchase it separately. The additional accessory was called Iflash.

Any adult is certainly aware of the functions of the flash - to create additional lighting for even better photo and video shooting. But Ice Flash in Apple smartphones has several more functions that are very useful for users.

In order to use this function on iPhone, you must complete preliminary settings. Algorithm for setting up a standard flash as a notification:

  1. Go to iPhone desktop showing application icons.
  2. Find the Settings application and launch it.
  3. In the settings menu, find and select the “Basic” section.
  4. In the list of basic settings, select the “Universal Access” command.
  5. Activate the “LED flash for warning” function.

If all the steps are completed correctly, you can start using the new feature and enjoy it. The smartphone will blink not only for calls, but also for other notifications:

  • incoming messages;
  • activating the alarm.

Flicker mode is active when the phone is locked or sleeping. If the device is active and its display is lit, there will be no notification signal. Overall this is a good benefit for the user. When the home screen is lit, it recognizes the arrival of a notification without an additional signal, and the absence of a flash saves battery consumption.

Third Party Applications

If for some reason your Android does not have a flashlight, then you can download it through the Play Store . A wide variety of applications are available for free download and below we will briefly talk about the most popular ones.

Interesting things about flash for phones

A few years ago, a phone camera equipped with a flash was the object of desire for every mobile photography enthusiast.

Now it is on almost all phones, but it doesn’t have much effect. This is a diode that supports autofocus.

Only manufacturers are trying to improve the lighting conditions of the frame, and LEDs cannot be compared to traditional flash.

The downside is the need for a large capacitor, which simply doesn't exist in thin smartphones.

Thanks to the latest invention by Professor Lee Pui-Zee, it can now become many times more effective.

She succeeded in creating a flat capacitor made of polymers that stores the charge needed to illuminate a gas just 1 mm thick.

Manufacturers now have one final challenge: implementing a new solution for mass production.

According to Jack Tuyen, CEO of Xenon Technologies, such subtle elements could appear on smartphones as early as next year.

It is very likely that the new development will arouse interest among leading manufacturers, and in the future this type of solution will appear in new models. Good luck.

How to enable silent mode

Starting from version 9 of the iOS mobile operating system, there is an additional setting for the light notification option when making a call on the iPhone. With its help, you can select additional LED notification parameters. You can enable a mode in which the notification will be made by flash with the sound turned off.

To do this you need to follow these steps:

  1. Click on the “Settings” icon in the main menu of the iPhone.
  1. Select the “Basic” tab.
  1. Click on the “Universal Access” item.
  1. Go to the “Hearing” section and click on the “Flash Alerts” tab.
  1. By activating the mode (switching it to the “On” position), you will see a new window. In it, to activate the function, you need to move the button to the right. It is located opposite the inscription “Flash in silent mode”.

Now, when the user mutes the iPhone, the LED notification will continue to work. This type of notification becomes active only in silent mode. If the ringer switch on the smartphone is in the active position, there will be no blinking from the lamp on the back side when making a call.

Once the light alert is activated, it will work when the device is locked. If the iPhone is active, the LED lamp on the back panel will not light up when a notification or call arrives.

Another way

An alternative was suggested by one of the owners of a similar phone. He encountered the same problem and solved it as follows:

  • If a failure is detected, reboot the mobile device;

  • Go to the functionality that activates the built-in flashlight;
  • Press. If it doesn’t work, continue trying to activate it;

  • Very often, after a person presses on/off several times, the flashlight starts working and no longer fails.

If none of the methods could solve the problem, then all that remains is to give the gadget to specialized specialists. For example, go to a branded service center, where the device will be sent for diagnostics, repair and restoration. This is especially true if the warranty period has not expired. Then all procedures can be completely free for the owner of mobile equipment.

How to restore performance on your own

First of all, remove the film, as it may interfere with the normal operation of the lighting. Test how the flash works using the Camera and Flashlight apps. If the flashlight is on, but the flash cannot be turned on, the problem is in the standard Camera program. It needs to be updated or use an analogue.

Next, explore your iPhone settings. Go to “Do not disturb”, activate the “Manual” option and disable it again. Check if the application that controls the flash and enables photo and video shooting is allowed.

Software failures can be easily resolved by rebooting - press the Power button, wait for the slider to appear and move the pointer to the right. Also install updates:

  • connect iPhone to charger
  • enable internet access
  • run the software update in the main settings

If the flash fires but unpredictably, try adjusting it. Click on the lightning icon in the upper left corner of the screen and change the settings.

It was not possible to turn on the flash again - you will have to contact a specialist. If you haven't flooded or dropped your phone, visit an Apple representative and request a free repair. Otherwise, the best way to fix your iPhone flash is to call YouDo artists to your home.

The flashlight is on when the phone is turned off

How to improve the quality of your photos

To fully understand how the camera works on Huawei smartphones, you need to adopt several rules that will help improve the quality of your photos.

To obtain high-quality images you must:

  1. Refuse zoom - do not use the camera's software zoom to take a picture of an object in the distance. Use physical zoom - just walk up.
  2. Maintain the proportions of light and shadow; minor errors can be corrected programmatically, but significant differences will result in overexposure in the photo or a large amount of noise.
  3. Take black and white photos only with a monochrome lens, it is more accurate in identifying subjects. On the P20 and P30 series phones, the monochrome lens works well day and night.
  4. Shoot on a tripod, especially in “Pro” and “Night” modes.
  5. Use focus yourself; autofocus does not always cope with its task efficiently.

Following all the rules of photography does not always help to obtain high-quality photographs. Budget phones are simply not capable of producing photos equal in quality to those from a flagship.

All your phone's flashlight options, covered

Now you know how to turn on the flashlight on your Android phone or iPhone. It's a simple task, but knowing where these shortcuts are means you won't be stuck in the dark for long.

While you probably won't damage your phone if you use the flashlight for long periods of time, we recommend not leaving it on any longer than necessary. Bright lights will drain your battery, and leaving them on all the time can cause your phone to heat up and further drain your battery.

A flashlight isn't the only tool that can replace your phone; Check out the best digital instrument apps for Android

When to use flash?

Flash is a universal and convenient thing for creativity. Almost no one doubts the need to use it in photography. But you need to think about what the flash does and when should it be used? Built-in and external flashes allow you to take pictures in low-light conditions. They can change the photo for both the better and the worse. Let's look at different situations in detail.

Light Response VS Light Control

The key to photography is light and how you choose to react and control it. Before you take pictures, you need to think about your future photography. In the photo above, the settings have been manually adjusted to capture as many colors, subtle tones, and light changes as possible in a dark environment.

However, flashes (as well as other methods of controlling lighting) certainly have their place in photography. In portrait photography, light is controlled in two different ways. Like these images by children's portrait photographer Amy Douglas. The left image uses lower light (studio light) to create strong shadows, controlling lighting effects and skin tones to create a soft image with dramatic contrast. This is a good example of how a photographer controls light to create a strong and stylish image.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr7Wu2Tg5Uo

The image on the right is a clever example of using flash. Amy Douglas uses flash to create even tones. A very different approach than trying to get dramatic shadows in the photo above. Comparing the photographs, it is clear that although the cameras and lenses used were quite similar, the results were completely different.

What to Expect: Comparing Shots with and Without Flash

No flash was used in the image on the left, unlike the image on the right. Both images have been lightly edited in an attempt to show some of the less obvious differences due to the flash.

For example, the flash photo appears more polarized, with darker tones and some loss of detail, while the left image is smoother and fully matches the situational lighting. The flash produces a strong glare on some materials (glass or plastic), as shown above. If you take your photos through a window, most of the flash will be reflected there, ruining the photo.

Sometimes using flash is simply a stylistic choice. Both of these images have been edited - the left photo did not use a flash, but the right one did. Notice how the shadows change. This is because using flash changes the lighting by adding a bright light source.

It's hard to say in this situation, but the built-in flash gives the photographer more control over the light. Either way, the idea of duplicating your shots by shooting the same subject with and without flash is never a bad idea.

Proper use of flash and fill flash technique

Many of us use flash in low light situations or for night shots - we all practically want to shoot friends at a bar or inside a dimly lit room. In these situations, light control is not possible and a slow shutter speed results in all images being blurred.

  • Flashes have a lot of glare and can create large areas of white in a photo.
  • Expect changes in color or color temperature when shooting using flash.
  • Flashes can have a “evening” effect: evening out skin tones and altering shadows. This property may or may not benefit the photo.
  • Expect to experience very strong glare on reflective materials.
  • The effective range of the flash is only a few centimeters and can create a dark background. (The above photo is a good example of this.)
  • Red eyes, red eyes, red eyes! But also, flashes can create unnatural white highlights in the eyes.
  • Flashes can also create shadows where you don't expect them.
  • Proper use of flash and/or lamps can create photographs with even skin tones that highlight the subject rather than the light.

Regardless of the shortcomings of flashes, they still play a very important role in a portrait photographer's entire toolkit. Using the fill flash technique can be a great way to enhance outdoor portraits like the image above. Here's (roughly) how to implement the fill-flash technique:

  • shoot an outdoor portrait with settings to properly expose the background;
  • manually open the flash (usually using the button marked with a lightning bolt), keeping the same settings. Depending on your camera, automatic settings may change exposure in response to flash activation;
  • shoot a portrait using flash to cast light on the foreground subject;
  • after some experimentation you should be able to get good exposure in both the foreground and background.

And in conclusion, I would like to note in what cases should you use a flash? If the “horrors” of flash photography don’t scare you, or you need to focus on the subject, you shouldn’t have any doubts about whether you need to “blind” your friends with your camera’s flash.

Looking for a reason

An incorrectly working flash brings a lot of inconvenience when using an iPhone. Determine one of the reasons for the failure:

  • Moisture gets into the camera mechanism - in this case you need to work with the hardware;
  • OS update. Many users complain about limitations in the flash or its complete lack of operation after updating to iOS 10. You can return to using the previous version of the operating system or wait for a newer firmware from the developer;
  • Performing Jailbreak. Working with this operation may limit the functionality of the phone. The only solution is to roll back to factory settings;
  • Phone overheating. Due to the increase in temperature in the iPhone case, the flash may not work. Turn off the device and wait until it cools down completely;
  • Flash hardware failure (after dropping or hitting the phone), which requires a complete replacement of the component.

Method No. 1 - Changing settings

If there is a protective film on the back cover of your iPhone, remove it - most likely it does not allow the flash to work properly.

Test the flash in different programs. Install a third-party Flashlight app. If the flash works in it, but not in the “Camera”, you need to update the standard Camera application or use another shooting program.

If the flashlight functionality does not work either in other programs or in standard ones, check your smartphone settings. In the phone settings, click on “Do not disturb” and turn on the Manual function and after a few seconds turn it off again. Also check if the camera is included in the list of allowed applications.

Method No. 2 – Emergency reboot

Press and hold the power key until the slider shown in the figure appears. Move the pointer to the right to turn off your phone. This method allows you to solve temporary software problems.

Method number 3 - Installing updates

A new firmware version usually contains an improved security system and support for phone functionality. If a new version of the system is available to you, install it:

  • Connect your phone to a power source;
  • Connect to the router;
  • Click on Settings-General-Software Update;
  • Click "Download and Install".

Method number 4 - Replacing the camera

If the problem cannot be solved using the first three methods, the reason is a partial malfunction of the camera module. Since the flash is a component of the module and it will not be possible to replace it as a separate part, the only way out is to completely replace the main camera.

The rear camera part is sold as a separate component of iPhones. It is individual for each smartphone model. It is important to note that only original parts must be used during repairs. A unique serial number must be printed on the camera cable. The picture below shows the rear camera, which we will replace next.

Unclip the back cover from the display using a pentagonal screwdriver, picks, and a spudger to remove the motherboard cables. Then remove the board. In its upper part, find the installed camera module and unfasten the screws of its plug. Disconnect the cable using a spudger and replace the component. Collect your phone.

Photo instructions for repairing an LED flashlight. Photos are clickable.

Any electrical device can break down. This also applies to LED lights. The online store provides a guarantee of up to 3 months on everything.

All lanterns are checked upon receipt and again upon sale. In most cases, flashlight repair is quite accessible to an ordinary person with a standard set of tools.

In 90% of cases, all breakdowns occur due to poor contact in the flashlight circuit.

Problem 1: The LED flashlight does not turn on or flickers when working

As a rule, this is the cause of poor contact. The easiest way to treat it is to tighten all the threads tightly. If the flashlight doesn't work at all, start by checking the battery. It may be discharged or damaged.

Unscrew the back cover of the flashlight and use a screwdriver to connect the housing to the negative terminal of the battery. If the flashlight lights up, then the problem is in the module with the button.

.

90% of the buttons of all LED flashlights are made according to the same scheme: The button body is made of aluminum with a thread, a rubber cap is inserted there, then the button module itself and a pressure ring for contact with the body.

The problem is most often solved by a loose clamping ring. To fix this problem, just find round pliers with thin tips or thin scissors that need to be inserted into the holes, as in the photo, and turned clockwise.

If the ring moves, the problem is fixed. If the ring stays in place, then the problem lies in the contact of the button module with the body. Unscrew the clamping ring counterclockwise and pull the button module out. Poor contact often occurs due to oxidation of the aluminum surface of the ring or border on the printed circuit board (indicated by arrows) Simply wipe these surfaces with alcohol and functionality will be restored.

Button modules are different. Some have contact through the printed circuit board, others have contact through the side petals to the flashlight body. Just bend this petal to the side so that the contact is tighter. Alternatively, you can make a solder from tin so that the surface is thicker and the contact is pressed better. All LED lights are basically the same

The plus goes through the positive contact of the battery to the center of the LED module.
The negative goes through the body and is closed with a button.
It would be a good idea to check the tightness of the LED module inside the housing. This is also a common problem with LED lights.

Using round nose pliers or pliers, rotate the module clockwise until it stops. Be careful, it is easy to damage the LED at this point.

These actions should be quite enough to restore the functionality of the LED flashlight.

It’s worse when the flashlight works and the modes are switched, but the beam is very dim, or the flashlight doesn’t work at all and there’s a burning smell inside.

Problem 2. The flashlight works fine, but is dim or does not work at all and there is a burning smell inside

Most likely the driver has failed. The driver is an electronic circuit with transistors that controls the flashlight modes and is also responsible for a constant voltage level, regardless of battery discharge.

You need to unsolder the burnt driver and solder in a new driver, or connect the LED directly to the battery. In this case, you lose all modes and are left only with the maximum one.

Sometimes (much less often) the LED fails. You can check this very simply. Apply a voltage of 4.2 V/ to the contact pads of the LED. The main thing is not to confuse the polarity. If the LED lights up brightly, then the driver has failed, if vice versa, then you need to order a new LED.

Unscrew the module with the LED from the housing. Modules vary, but as a rule, they are made of copper or brass and are unscrewed counterclockwise. Unsolder the wires from the star with the LED and remove the driver.

Almost any modern camera, with the exception of models in the professional segment, is equipped with a built-in flash. This part of photographic equipment has become very technologically advanced and complex, and therefore inexperienced users may have problems using it.

The flash in modern cameras, whether built-in or plug-in, is a device consisting of a pulsed xenon lamp and a control chip. When the camera sends a signal to the flash, its lamp flashes with a pre-calculated power and length of the light pulse.

If you are using a compact camera and the built-in flash does not fire, check whether the shooting mode is selected correctly. If shooting is done in modes, for example, “Night photography”, “Children”, “Animals”, “Landscape”, then there is a high probability that the use of flash is prohibited in them. Turn on automatic mode, most often indicated by the letter “A,” and take a test frame. It should be noted that the flash will not be used if you are shooting in bright light, the camera can easily cope without it.

Many models have a function to force the flash to turn off, even if it is provided by the default settings in some shooting mode. Find the button with the lightning bolt icon on your camera body. Using it, you can forcefully turn off or turn on the flash. If such a button is not provided, enter the camera menu and check the settings.

When using an external flash, make sure it is a system compatible with your camera. Whenever possible, use flashes and cameras from the same manufacturer to ensure accurate performance and enhanced functionality.

Before connecting the flash to the camera, turn it on and use the “Test” button, if provided by the design. This way you will immediately receive information about whether the lamp has burned out.

If an external flash works without a camera, but does not function properly after connecting, check its settings in the camera menu, as well as in the settings on the flash body itself. It is advisable to switch the settings to the same metering and synchronization mode. The most common and uncompromising is “TTL” and its variations.

Long periods of shooting and frequent use of the flash at very high power use up a large amount of energy. Over time, the flash's charging cycle before next use will become slower and may take several seconds. The flash cannot fire until it is fully charged. You can verify that it is ready for shooting using a special light indicator.

The flash may also have physical problems. Do not disassemble the camera or flash yourself - this is a complex device with a large number of small and fragile parts that are easily damaged. Use the services of a photo service.

Mobile devices from Apple models 4, 4S5, 5S, 5C, 6, 6 Plus are used not only for conversations. They are multifunctional and allow the user to take videos and photographs. The small size of iPhone allows you to step into the world of photography, capturing moments of nature or family that might be missed if you don't have a camera.

It is very unpleasant when a favorite thing or certain of its functions fails, especially if you use them quite often. And when the iPhone flash does not work or is constantly on, the owner immediately wonders what to do to fix this problem. Most often this happens due to moisture penetration into the device. And we recommend that anyone who encounters a breakdown immediately contact our APPLE-SAPPHIRE service center for free diagnostics and high-quality repair of the device. The longer you delay, the more difficult it will be to repair your smartphone (and the cost of repair will increase significantly).

Do you often use your iPhone to capture unexpected moments? And suddenly your flash stopped working? Have you tried various manipulations (deleting folders, resetting factory settings), but nothing helped?

Useful tips

Flash drivers may fail after flashing the gadget with a modified version of the OS. In this case, only a full reset to factory settings will help.

  1. Open the gadget settings, go to the “Reset and Recovery” menu.
  2. Click "Erase all data and set settings to default."
  3. Enter your Google account information and confirm the selected action.
  4. Once the process is complete, the flash should work again, unless the malfunction was caused by a hardware problem.

In some cases, system apps do not work on newly installed Android. Wait for the release of an update that corrects defects or roll back the gadget to the previous firmware version.

It is worth noting that the diode may burn out due to constant use as a notification reminder. If the flash does not fire, remove all third-party programs that can affect its functioning. Such applications include modified versions of the camera and flashlight, especially those with a strobe function.

On older versions of Android, the module can be completely disabled from the settings menu. To reactivate, go to settings, then “General”, activate the appropriate option. Open the camera application and check the functionality of the component.

What to do if the flashlight disappears from the curtain at the top

The reasons why shortcuts on the top panel (curtain) may no longer appear are very different. Many users notice such problems immediately after updating the firmware.

Most often, the problem looks like a complete absence of a curtain; in other words, the user simply cannot call up this panel. Typically the reasons are the following:

  • A third-party application is preventing the function from working properly. Solution: roll back the system to a previous state or remove the program;
  • the screen sensor has a malfunction that prevents the retractable panel from being activated;
  • a failure occurred during a firmware update;
  • The device freezes either due to low memory or system overload. You can clean up or close some background programs.

Note! The solution to this situation is to reboot the phone. There may be a short-term glitch in the system, and this will help correct the situation.

Reasons for the flash not working properly on your phone

There can be many reasons why there have been changes in the performance of the phone:

  • software error,
  • flash conflict with a recently installed application,
  • the phone was in a humid environment - the motherboard could succumb to corrosion),
  • phone battery is low,
  • the contacts on the phone cable are faulty,
  • The diode responsible for the flash has burned out.

First of all, restart your phone and try turning on the flash again. Turn on the phone to charge and leave it in this position for several hours. Uninstall the recently installed application and check the option to turn on the flash in the options.

Chinese scientists have come up with an alternative to the built-in flash - an external flash. It connects to the phone using the headphone hole. Its battery lasts for 500 flashes, or 3 hours of constant low light.

However, such a device requires, at a minimum, high costs. Therefore, if there is severe damage or you suspect a problem with the flash, contact a service center that will carry out high-quality work to prevent and repair your phone.

Every Apple owner may encounter a situation where the flash on the iPhone does not work. It is not always necessary to take your smartphone in for repair - a software glitch or an error in the settings of this function can interfere with the operation of the flash. You must first accurately determine the cause of the breakdown and then make the right decision.

How to fix the problem

Before taking your phone to a service center, you can independently take steps to prevent damage to the software.

  1. To begin with, you should reboot your smartphone.
  2. If the problem is not resolved, let the device charge for several hours and use the flash function again.
  3. If the flashlight previously worked well, but after downloading certain applications it stopped working, try uninstalling them.
  4. It's worth reviewing the photography mode settings again, because some people simply forget to turn on the flash before taking pictures.

If all of the above tips did not help, all that remains is to do a full reset or reflash the device.

However, even this step will not help if the problem is inside the device. Here it is better to contact specialists who will identify flashlight problems by opening the phone and checking the contacts.

The simplest solution if the flash on your Android phone does not work when taking photographs

Such a non-working software state of the flash during photography can be cured instantly. Open “Settings” and look for the reset function.

Where is it? It depends little on the phone model - more on the version of Android. Right now I have a Samsung phone with Android 7.0 in my hands.

You don’t need to search for long in it: “Settings”, “General settings” and you find yourself in the reset section (at the very bottom).

Just no need to be naughty. First, save the data that is important to you - it will be deleted. A full backup will not work here - then the old firmware will be restored and the flash will not work again

If you have synchronization enabled, then all data should be restored. If you choose this option, then before resetting, I recommend making sure that Google really synchronized everything.

To do this, you need to visit the Google website (or the phone developer - many also offer their own synchronization) and see if everything is in place.

There are also computer programs that can quickly transfer your files to your computer or laptop.

Special application

Built-in functionality to activate the flashlight during a call on Android is relatively rare. Therefore, stand-alone software is in demand. There are many of these on the Play Market today.

  1. Opening the Play Market store.
  2. Write “flashing for call” in the search bar.
  3. From the list of suggested ones, choose those that you liked the most based on their description and rating.
  4. Download and install.
  5. You launch it.
  6. Grant rights to access other settings requested by the software.
  7. Set the desired parameters.

Huawei frequency aggregation - what is it and how does it increase speed on a smartphone?

Note that such software can be installed on incoming SMS and other notifications. Test after activation.

Attention! Be careful when downloading any files to your phone. Downloading from unverified and dubious sources may result in the appearance of malicious components that destroy the operating system. Trust only official websites and the Google Play store.

There are plenty of options for such programs on Google Play, but let’s look at the example of a fairly simple but effective application from our compatriot called Strobe on Call, which can be installed by following the link.

After installing and running the program for the first time, it should be given the necessary permissions. In the event that you are only interested in flash notifications for an incoming call, we give permission to make and manage calls, and you can prohibit sending and viewing SMS messages. If you need SMS notifications, we allow them too.

Next, in the program settings, set the switches according to your preferences and wait for an incoming call.

It is worth noting that in addition to notifications about incoming calls and SMS, the application can flash with a flash informing about new notifications from various programs (for example, Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.) that you select from the list. In the settings you can set the blinking frequency and flash duration.

The program is under active development and it is quite possible that it will soon acquire new useful functions and more flexible settings.

Hello, dear forum users!

The flashlight LED under the flash is constantly on. Even when the phone is completely turned off.

According to the diagram, it is clear that the 3rd leg of the X1452 connector receives power vph_pwr. But it’s not clear what is controlled, since vph_pwr is present throughout the board. If you have experience with treatment, please tell me.

I'll try, of course, but I don't quite understand. The problem is not with the flash, but with the LED under the flash. When power is applied to pins 3 and 6, it lights up. And glow even when the phone is completely turned off.

How did I not write this in the very first post and in the topic, respectively.

“The LED of the flashlight, which is under the flash, is constantly on. Even when the phone is completely turned off.”

Let me add that the camera does not work. And when you connect the battery, power immediately appears on the 3rd leg of the connector.

And if you apply voltage to the contacts on the module “part number 4860227” (photo post 3), then this LED will light up.

In general, I haven’t decided, because I’m stuck in the control chip, and there’s no way to change it. Since the camera still doesn’t work, I simply opened the circuit to the flashlight. And gave it to the client.

If someone wins, please sign up. I wonder what's there.

Removing the entire cache of an android device

If you open the camera, but still see the message that the camera cannot be connected, “Close other programs that may be using the flash or camera,” you need to do the following:

  1. You need to open Recovery mode. Typically, this requires using the Power and Volume Up or Down buttons simultaneously. The required login keys can be found in the documentation for your device;
  2. Select the “Wipe cache partition” section here;

    Clear Android device cache

  3. Delete all temporary files on the device.

Then restart your smartphone again. When it turns on, try opening the camera and checking it.

Solution

First, make sure that the device's motherboard is fully functional. Remember if the phone was dropped and if liquid got into the case.

  • Restart your smartphone.
  • Try resetting the settings without deleting data.
  • Open the gadget settings, go to the “Backup and Reset” tab. Click Reset Settings to Defaults.

Important! Not about.

The procedure will take a few seconds. Once completed, open the camera app and check if the problem is resolved.

If your phone's battery drains quickly, causing the flash to turn off, your only option is to replace the battery. Contact a specialist to clarify the price of your smartphone's battery and the possibility of replacement.
