We shoot a lot of videos on our Android smartphones. There are also those videos that friends send us through instant messengers or social networks. When viewing some of them, we understand that this is the very frame that needs to be saved as a separate photograph. But not everyone knows how to do this. The easiest way that many people use is to stop the video and take a screenshot. So everything turns out quickly and simply. But this method cannot be called the most correct. There is something a little more complicated, but at the same time devoid of the disadvantages of the screenshot method. Now I’ll tell you in more detail what I mean.
Extracting photos from videos is much easier than it seems.
Video editor for Xiaomi
Not all users know that Xiaomi phones with MIUI 12 and higher have a built-in video editor. With its help, you can not only trim the video around the edges, but also apply various effects, add music, or stitch together several videos. This editor is built into the Gallery program, which is available on all Xiaomi phones.
After opening the Gallery , click on the three dots at the top and select Video Editor .
On the next window we need to select one or more videos that we will edit. Select the videos we need and click on the checkmark at the top.
After this, we get into the program, where we will trim and edit the video on the phone.
The screen consists of several sections: templates, editor, filters, captions and soundtrack.
Before we look at them in more detail, we’ll also tell you about a tool with which you can specify the aspect ratio for a video. It is located at the top.
From this screen you can set the desired aspect ratio for the video. Some videos can be made more elongated, and some, on the contrary, can be made more convenient for mobile devices, i.e. vertical. A preview works to evaluate the final result.

In the WhatsApp application
If, for example, you are the owner of an Honor or Huawei smartphone, where Google applications do not work, and the built-in “Gallery” does not have a video editing function, then you can go in a very interesting way. So, if you need to trim a video solely to send a trimmed copy to one of your contacts, then it is suggested to use the WhatsApp functionality:
- Launch the messenger client.
- Open a chat with the desired contact.
- Click the attach media button.
- Select a video.
- Use the sliders to adjust its length.
- Click the "Submit" button.
The recipient will not be able to view the entire video, but only a cropped copy of it. In addition, the video will also be in the internal memory of your device. Thus, with WhatsApp, clips are trimmed for both the recipient of the message with the media attached and the owner of the device.
Templates
In this section you can specify certain preset templates for videos. If you don’t want to bother with various settings, then here you can select a set of specific video effects and text for the video. As a start, it is better to select any suitable template from the list, and then edit it. Don't worry if some of them have English text or music, they can be removed later. The templates also install some kind of filter on the video, like those on Instagram. They can also be edited in the future.
Method number 2. How to remove one or more parts from a video in Sony Vegas
If you have experience with video editing, you can use professional software such as Sony Vegas. The software is suitable for accurately removing a segment from a video clip, high-quality color correction, audio processing, creating visual effects and using built-in filters.
The program is demanding on computer resources

Editor
In this section you can trim or change transitions in the video. The editor will already be divided into sections, depending on the template you chose.
The button on the right is for adding another video from your library. This way you can merge several videos into one.
If you tap on any segment, an editing window will open.
This section allows you to trim the video if it is too long. To do this, it is enough to indicate the start and end interval using the left and right pointers. You can also set the speed, play the video in reverse order, or even remove this gap altogether. When finished, press back.
Installation technique
Small errors in the frame are not always the focus of a video editor. In some projects, there is nothing you can do, in others, using creativity you can fix them. Using the techniques described above, we can improve the shot.
Let's take, for example, two video frames that we would like to beautifully contrast in our finished project. In the first shot we have a hang glider flying at high altitude in a blue sky. In the second frame, we will replace the dissolving eagle with an emerging hang glider, also flying in the sky. Naturally, such a transition from one to another has artistic meaning.
But these two frames won't fit together unless the eagle and the hang glider are in the same part of the screen. The hang glider is on the left side of the screen at the end of this clip, and the eagle is mostly on the right side of the screen. Ideally, we'd like to have the objects in the same position on the screen at the moment we want to make the transition. The trick is to find the perfect time to do this, or use the trick we described at the beginning of the article.
First, let's try to find the possible fraction of a second for the glider's position to match the eagle's position. In one window we will play the glider clip until we reach the last 30 frames, or until we find the starting point for the dissolve. Most likely you will find this moment; however, it is necessary that it remains in this position for more than one or two frames. It is necessary that they remain in one place for at least 15 frames (half a second).
Filters
In this section, you can apply various filters to videos, similar to Instagram.
There are quite a lot of options to choose from and each one can be customized. To do this, simply tap on the selected filter again and specify the desired value.
Some filters add a certain charm to the video, so I recommend playing with the settings and choosing the best option for yourself.
Video to Image Converter
A similar application designed to perform a single function - capturing a frame from a video. It works on the same principle as the previous program. That is, you need to launch Video to Image Converter, select a video and stop playback at the right moment by clicking the capture button. Next, all received images will be displayed in the “My Captures” folder, as well as in the “Gallery” of the smartphone.
Inscriptions
In this section you can add various inscriptions or titles to the video.
To add text to a video on your phone, you need to press the appropriate button. After this, you need to select the interval in which the text will be shown and click on the add button at the bottom.
We enter our text and it appears on the video. If you need to edit or delete your text, you need to click on the inscription above the feed.
The text will go into editing mode.
Where you can change it, adjust the font or delete it.
Headings are special preset texts that cannot be changed.
They are individual and have a different design from plain text.
Experimentation leads to innovation
Using the technique of resizing and repositioning a video clip, you can do much more than just fix a blooper or make a shot more stable. If you also add photos to your project, you can use the same technique to pan and zoom photos.
You can also use this strategy to create special effects such as simulating shaking from an impact, simulating an earthquake, and so on. Finally, you can also animate your movie titles to zoom in and out on individual frames of your movies.

In this section you can add music to the video.
You can choose from presets and specify a music file from your gallery. To do this, you need to select the melody icon at the very end of the list of preset sound effects.
Click and select the desired file from your media library.
If you click on the selected sound template again, the editing window will open.

At first glance, it may seem that trimming a video on your phone or applying various special effects is quite a difficult task, but now you know that this is not so. When you don't have a computer at hand, your own phone can come to the rescue. Thanks to it, you can organize a small video editing.
Method number 3. How to remove unnecessary things from a video in an online service

A program of a different kind, which is a full-fledged video editor with a huge number of functions. One of them is frame capture. The principle of its operation is similar to the algorithm for previous applications, however, the functionality of InShot makes it difficult for a new user to understand the overloaded interface. In addition, the disadvantage of the program is the presence of watermarks, and this fact is unlikely to please a person planning to post a still image on social networks.
