iPhone Size Comparison Chart: They're ALL Ranked by Size...

With the release of the iPhone 12 lineup, Apple is offering more size options for its smartphones than ever before. In the image below you can clearly see how the sizes of all current iPhones today compare, starting with the iPhone 5 and ending with the iPhone 12 Pro Max. As you can see, representatives of the latest line perfectly complement this series.

Analysts believe that the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 will become the most popular smartphone of the 2022/2022 season, and the iPhone 12 mini should become the second most popular. It must be said that many users enthusiastically noted the return of a compact smartphone to the market. In addition, the iPhone 12 mini has the same functions as the iPhone 12. That is why when choosing one model out of two, you will not lose anything in performance, it’s all just a matter of size. But the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max already have additional functions.

The iPhone 12 mini is actually a powerful device, despite the fact that it has a relatively small 5.4-inch OLED screen by modern standards. Today it is difficult to find a compact and noteworthy smartphone on sale. Yes, a diagonal of 5.4 inches is not a record for Apple smartphones, but it is worth appreciating the efforts of the manufacturer, who was able to place truly advanced solutions in a thin and compact body. If we compare the size of the iPhone 12 mini, then this device is located between the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6. For some future owners, the iPhone 12 mini with a 5.4-inch edge-to-edge screen and a new design may seem like the ideal smartphone.

iPhone XS vs XS Max vs XR: Price in Russia

Let's get straight to the point: the iPhone XS and Xs Max are the most expensive iPhone devices Apple has ever released.

If you're thinking about the Xs, get ready to fork over a ton of money. The Xs (like the X before it) costs RUB 87,990 for the 64GB model, which still seems like a lot of money for a phone with little storage. (The 256GB model costs RUB 100,990.) The XS Max is even more expensive, with a starting price of RUB 103,990 for the 64 GB and RUB 118,990 for the 256 GB version.

Both of these phones also offer a 512GB model, which costs $400 more than their respective base models.

Colors:

  • iPhone XR: blue, coral, yellow, white, black, red;

  • iPhone XS: gold, silver, gray;
  • iPhone Xs Max: gold, silver, gray.

The iPhone XR starts at a more affordable (but not cheap) RUB 65,990 for the 64GB model, and you'll spend RUB 69,990 to bump it up to 128GB.

  • iPhone XR – 64 GB (64,990 ₽ or 749 $), 128 GB (68,990 ₽ or 799 $), 256 GB (77,990 ₽ or 869 $)
  • iPhone XS – 64 GB (87,990 ₽ or 999 $), 256 GB (100,990 ₽ or 1,149 $), 512 GB (118,990 ₽ or 1,349 $)
  • iPhone XS Max – 64 GB (103,990 ₽ or 1,099 $), 256 GB (118,990 ₽ or 1,249 $), 512 GB (135,990 ₽ or 1,449 $)

By comparison, the iPhone X topped out at RUB 118,990 for 256GB, but the new 512GB option pushes the iPhone XS higher, while the iPhone Xs Max is in a class of its own.

Ask a Question

“First of all, you need to check whether the smartphone is original. This can be determined by one glance at the back of the box, where original devices will always have an even arrangement of information elements and font. Then you need to check the IMEI on the iPhone box with the real IMEI displayed in the phone settings. It is also unacceptable for the iPhone to have damage in the area of the fastening bolts - if there is any, then the phone may have been obtained by the previous owner illegally and may be wanted. You should also pay attention to the screen. If it sticks out from the iPhone body, then you either have a fake, or this device has had its matrix changed, and it’s better not to buy it.”

By following these simple tips, even on the secondary market you can find the best and most reliable iPhone at an affordable price.

iPhone size guide - from largest to smallest

Below is a quick breakdown of all the iPhone models you can currently buy (we also have one for Samsung) ; the newest (and best) are, of course, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini , as well as the “flagship” iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max models.

  • Save

But don't feel like you need to rock your flagship iPhone to get amazing performance. I prefer to buy older flagship iPhones because they are cheaper (and I have been doing this for many years). And if you're interested in how Apple's iPhone has evolved over the years, check out our MEGA LIST, which compares the specs of every iPhone ever released.

Below is a brief description of each iPhone model, from largest to smallest:

  • iPhone 12 Pro Max: The new iPhone 12 Pro Max is the largest iPhone Apple has ever released. It has a 6.7-inch OLED display and the following dimensions: 160.8 x 78.1 x 7.4 mm. This makes it not only the largest iPhone in the iPhone 12 lineup, but also in terms of Apple's entire iPhone release history.
  • iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro – Apple's iPhone 12 (the phone that replaces the iPhone 11) retains the same display size as before: 6.1 inches, although this time it uses an OLED panel. The iPhone 12 Pro is slightly larger than the iPhone 11 Pro, with a 6.1-inch OLED panel (the iPhone 11 Pro has a 5.8-inch OLED panel).
  • iPhone XS Max / iPhone 11 Pro Max – The iPhone XS Max is the largest and most expensive iPhone you can buy currently. It has a 6.5-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2688 with 1242 pixels. This is the highest resolution panel Apple has ever used on an iPhone. And since it's an OLED display, the display quality is superb. The black ones look amazing and the white ones are great. OLED also uses less power than LCD, so it is also more energy efficient.
  • iPhone XR / iPhone 11 – The iPhone XR is Apple's best-selling phone. The reason for this is simple: it offers maximum value for money. It features a large 6.1-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1792 x 828 pixels that looks great in any environment. It's not as good as the iPhone XS Max's OLED panel. But he's still a solid performer where he counts. The key advantage of the iPhone XR is its price; you get the iPhone XS specs for $300 less, with the only real tradeoff being that it lacks an OLED panel.
  • iPhone XS / iPhone X / iPhone 11 Pro – The iPhone X was Apple's first iPhone with an OLED screen. The iPhone XS followed 12 months later, retaining almost the same design and display technology. The iPhone X/iPhone XS features a 5.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1125 x 2436 pixels. The quality of this panel is exceptional. Like the iPhone XS Max display, the iPhone X/iPhone XS display performs great in all conditions. If you want the best iPhone display in just a smaller phone, the iPhone X/iPhone XS is what you need.
  • Mini 12 iPhone – The iPhone 12 Mini is the smallest iPhone Apple has released in generations. The iPhone 12 Mini features a 5.4-inch OLED display, making it smaller than the iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone 11 Pro. The exact dimensions of the iPhone 12 Mini are as follows: 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.4 mm.
  • iPhone 7 Plus / iPhone 8 Plus - The iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus look the same. The only difference between the two is the camera and internal specs. In the hand and in terms of performance, these two phones don't have much to offer. Both have a 5.5-inch 1080p LCD display, and while it's not as good as OLED, it's still a very good display. And what's really cool about Apple's old flagship models is that you can now buy them for next to nothing.
  • iPhone SE (2020) – iPhone SE (2020), released in April 2022, is based on the design of the iPhone 8. It has a 4.7-inch True Tone display and measures 67.3 x 138.4 x 7.3 mm, 148 grams. The iPhone SE (2020) is powered by the same chipset as Apple's iPhone 11, the A13 Bionic. It also features the same camera as the iPhone XR.
  • iPhone 7 / iPhone 8 – iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 use a 4.7-inch LCD display with 720p resolution. Apple has stuck with this size for several generations of its iPhones—the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and iPhone 8. Most people who own an iPhone own one of these phones. As such, Apple's 4.7-inch 720p LCD is probably the most used iPhone display on the planet right now.
  • iPhone 5 / iPhone SE – iPhone 5 and iPhone SE use a 4-inch LCD display with 720p resolution. The iPhone 5 was the last iPhone to have a 4-inch display. Apple released the iPhone 6 and moved to larger panels. Not everyone was happy with this, so Apple released the iPhone SE for the millions of iPhone users who wanted an iPhone with a 4-inch display. The 4-inch iPhone form factor is now officially dead. The smallest iPhone display on the market right now is 4.7 inches on the iPhone 8. If you want a 4-inch iPhone, you'll have to go to Amazon and pick up an iPhone SE.
  • iPhone 4 / iPhone 4s – Apple's iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s, like the original iPhones, use a 3.5-inch 720p LCD display. By today's standards, the iPhone 4/4s display looks ridiculous; he's so small. The other day I pulled out an old iPhone 4s from one of the drawers and couldn't believe how small it was! Even compared to the iPhone 5, it looks stupid. And the iPhone 5 is only 0.5 inches larger than the iPhone 4 / iPhone 4s.

Apple will also release four new iPhone 12 models in 2021 and one more than in 2022. The iPhone 13 series will look like (by display size):

  • iPhone 13 (6.1 inches)
  • iPhone 13 (6.8 inches)
  • iPhone 13 Pro (6.1 inches)
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max (6.8in)

All Apple iPhone 13 Models will also be faster than 5G ; so you can connect to the fastest next-generation mobile data.

Device contents

The boxes for both smartphones are the same. At the top there is a symbol of the device, on the side there is an apple and the name. The back of the package lists the functionality, equipment, memory, shade of the smartphone, version, etc.

Phone diagonals

Inside there is a needle to open the nano-SIM slot, stickers in the shape of the Apple logo, a Lightning cable, a charger, and a headset. The phone is available in three colors – golden, dark gray, silver.

iPhone XS vs XS Max vs XR: What do we end up with?

When it comes to their performance and cameras, the iPhone Xs, XS Max and XR are more similar than their prices. The biggest difference, both in price and size, is where you'll pay pennies for the largest iPhone.

We're looking forward to testing each of the phones in our full reviews, so we can find out what Retina displays really are like, and how high the A12 bionic processor sets the bar for each phone. Are you ready to pre-order one of these iPhones (Xs orders start September 14th and XR orders start October 19th)? If so, let us know in the comments below so we can sympathize with you about the high price.

Which iPhone is the biggest?

  • Save

The biggest iPhone you can buy right now is the iPhone 12 Pro Max; It has a 6.7-inch OLED display, the largest ever on an iPhone, and measures 160.8 x 78.1 x 7.4 mm, making it the largest iPhone Apple has produced since the iPhone X.

However, the largest iPhone overall in size is the iPhone 8 Plus . Because it has a Home button and larger bezels on the top and bottom, it's both wider and taller than the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Apple's largest iPhone is always the Plus model (on earlier models), the Max or Pro Max model on more modern iPhone releases. For example, the biggest iPhone in 2022 was the iPhone 11 Pro Max . In 2022, the largest iPhone was the iPhone XS Max . And in 2022, the largest iPhone will be the iPhone 12 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch OLED display.

This will remain a general rule of thumb until Apple rebrands its iPhone. Interestingly, in 2022 we could see a return to positive branding with the release of the iPhone SE Plus , which will replace the discontinued iPhone 8 Plus.

Apple's entry-level iPhones have been pretty big over the past couple of years too; The iPhone XR has a 6.1-inch LCD screen size, like the iPhone 11, again this phone uses an LCD display instead of an OLED display, which is currently reserved for Apple's more expensive Pro and Pro Max models.

What's really cool about the iPhone 12 lineup is that they all use OLED screens—even the entry-level models and the iPhone 12 Mini.

Screen Specifications

iPhone 10 received a display labeled OLED. It is useful even for ordinary users to know what these letters mean and what are the pros and cons of such technology. Apple called the Super Retina screen the most successful among existing smartphones, including models from other manufacturers. Advantages of the display in iPhone 10:

  1. An unprecedented 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, expanded color gamut and automatic color control allow you to take a fresh look at your screen's capabilities. Improved performance had a positive impact on the quality of photo and video shooting; until the release of the next generation models in 2018, the iPhone X remained the leader in this area. Photos are realistic and clear.
  2. OLED display is used in digital devices, tablet and TV screens. But Apple brought the technology up to internal standards, making color reproduction accurate.
  3. Unlike LED, in OLED technology the pixels emit their own light. This affects the brightness and clarity of the image. In addition, it has become easier to adjust the backlight intensity depending on the lighting or the situation in which the smartphone is used.

OLED displays are characterized by a “burn-in” effect, where colors shift or lose their characteristics when viewed at an angle. In Athos 10, the company's developers reduced this minus to a minimum value.

The appearance of a Super Retina display in the 2022 flagship was met with bewilderment by many. The fact is that technology is famous for its fragility. After 2-3 years, the radiation level of the pixels decreases, some even breaking down. To avoid unpleasant situations, the company suggests updating the software on time and enabling the “Auto-Brightness” function, which will automatically adjust the backlight level.

How did version 7 of the smartphone appear?

4 years after the death of Steve Jobs, the company decided to release 2 new variations with a 4.7 and 5.5″ screen. This was the sixth version of the iPhone. Compared to previous phones, they were called “shovels” because they shocked everyone. It soon became clear that users liked large iPhones. When versions 7 and 7 plus appeared on the market, everyone was happy.

External design of iPhone

The iPhone 7 models and the Plus version are not significantly different in layout from their predecessors, but differ significantly in workmanship.

The Chinese “zakos” iPhone 7 and the plus version did not live up to the original devices. The first thing that is too noticeable is the antenna inserts located on the bottom and top of the phone. On iPhone 7 and 7 plus versions in silver, matte black and pink, they are clearly visible. However, on the “seven” in the shade “black onyx” they almost merge with the body. In this case, one gets the feeling that the inserts do not exist.

General information

Some people are waiting for a new gadget to go on sale, while others just want to have a new modern phone.

The iPhone has always been one of the first smartphones, and everything about it is important, but buyers are especially concerned about the size of the phone and the dimensions of the screen.

Today, the user is interested in all the details of the smartphone, down to the smallest detail, what the screen size is, how many megapixels the camera is, including how many centimeters the phone itself is. If you need to make a choice in favor of purchasing one model or another, then you need to familiarize yourself not only with the technical parameters of the gadget, but also with its dimensions.

Phones have gotten bigger and bigger over the past few years. Cause? MASS MEDIA. Things like Instagram, YouTube, Netflix and the Internet have changed the way people use and interact with their phones. To get the most out of your images and videos, you'll need a large, high-resolution display. Phones are used more for consuming multimedia than for making and sending calls. This is the #1 reason they get bigger.

Apple may be late to the party. It didn't start using larger displays until the release of the iPhone 6 in 2014. Since then it has become twice as large with more higher resolution displays. iPhone 12 Max Pro has the largest display Apple has ever made.

In 2022, all iPhone models (in the iPhone 12 line) will be equipped with OLED displays. You also have the most choice in terms of size with the iPhone 12 - it comes in three different screen sizes: 5.4 inches, 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches.
