Cloud services are popular among PC users and a variety of mobile devices. With their help, you can ensure long-term and reliable storage of information on the web resource server, leaving free space in the device’s memory. In addition, data clouds help restore information when necessary. These are very convenient and useful sites. Today we will find out how to view the cloud on an iPhone. What kind of function is this anyway? How to use it? Is it possible to delete a cloud service?

Description

How to view the cloud on iPhone? First, it’s worth understanding what this function is.

It's called the iCloud cloud service. This option allows you to save your Apple ID account data and settings, and also provides access to the App Store and Find My iPhone. It is not difficult to use. The main thing is to know where to find iCloud.

What is it used for?

We’ll talk a little later about where the data cloud is located in the iPhone. First you need to understand what iCloud is used for. Is it possible to work with an Apple device without a cloud service?

In fact yes. But this scenario will cause a lot of problems and troubles in the future. iCloud is used in Apple products for the following purposes:

  • information storage;
  • creating OS backups;
  • saving operating system settings;
  • making purchases in a company online store;
  • working with the Find iPhone option;
  • data recovery on a mobile device;
  • tracking the location of an Apple device;
  • Apple ID formatting.

In general, the iCloud cloud service makes life much easier. Therefore, it is better not to neglect working with it. Fortunately, mastering this option is not difficult. And even a schoolboy can cope with this task.

What is required for work

When thinking about how to see what's stored in iCloud, you need to understand how to get started with this option. It just won't work that way. The owner of an Apple device must first enable and configure the Apple cloud.

Typically, to achieve the desired goal, the user needs to register an Apple ID account. Her password and login will be used to activate the cloud on the iPhone. Without this information, the service will not work under any circumstances.

Looking in the phone

How to view the cloud on iPhone? How about setting it up? First, let's figure out where the iCloud authorization log is located. Finding it won't be difficult.

Where is the cloud on the iPhone? Typically, to authorize in the corresponding service, you must perform the following steps:

  1. Turn on the Apple device, and then open the main menu of the device.
  2. Tap on the “Settings” section.
  3. Go to Apple ID.
  4. Click on iCloud.

That's all. Now the user will have to provide data from their Apple account. After this, the data cloud will be automatically linked to the Apple ID. You can use the function you are learning!

About setting up a space

How to view files in iCloud via iPhone? This is much easier to do than it seems. Typically, the main information of an Apple ID account is the information placed in the cloud service.

It is worth paying attention to the fact that the space in iCloud may run out. Initially, the user is offered only 5 GB of free storage space. By modern standards, this is very little.

Fortunately, you can buy additional storage space in the Apple cloud service at any time. You will have to pay it monthly.

In order to set up an iCloud plan, you will need:

  1. Go to “Settings” - “Username” - iCloud.
  2. Select the Manage Storage option.
  3. Tap on the inscription “Change plan”.
  4. Select one or another tariff and confirm its purchase.

After these steps, the space in iCloud will be automatically increased. Previously saved data will not be erased. They will remain untouched.

How to Increase iCloud Storage

By default, the user is provided with 5 GB: this capacity is enough if you plan to store only a backup copy of the iPhone - it takes 1.5–2 GB, depending on the amount of data in it. Data from several applications or a small photo library can also fit here. If there are several Apple gadgets and they all use iCloud, it is better to choose a different tariff plan. True, you will have to pay for this.

iCloud is charged monthly, so you can cancel your subscription when you no longer need it, or upgrade your storage to less or more storage depending on your needs.

iCloud tariff plans in 2022 and their capabilities:

  • 50 GB – 59 rub. This is enough to store a large library of photos, documents (text files, tables, presentations), as well as data from installed programs.
  • 200 GB – 149 rub. The optimal tariff for 2-3 Apple devices, one of which is a Mac.
  • 2 TB – 599 rub. The largest option, which is intended for family use (when several Apple IDs are combined into a group), as well as storing high-quality media data: for example, 4K movies. It is justified for users who have a Mac computer in addition to an iPhone.

In order to change the amount of storage in iCloud, you need to make sure that a bank card or other means of payment (Gift cards, mobile phone) is linked to your Apple ID.

Algorithm:

  1. Go to “Settings”, select the user block at the top.
  2. Find “iCloud” in the list, at the top – the line “Storage Management”.

  3. In the next window, tap on the “Change storage plan” item. The system may require your Apple ID password: enter it.
  4. From the available tariff plans, select the appropriate one and click “Buy” in the upper corner. Confirm the transaction using Touch ID or Face ID (it goes through Apple Pay).

A receipt confirming your completed payment and subscription to the service will be sent to your email address linked to your Apple ID. The date of its automatic renewal - the next debiting of funds - will also be indicated there. You can cancel it at any time, but it will be available for use until the end of the paid month.

Question to the expert

Can I remove iCloud from my iPhone?

No, this is pre-installed software. If you don’t want to use it, exit it: “Settings” – “iCloud” – “Exit”. Keep in mind that synced files from the iPhone will be erased.

Are backups saved automatically in iCloud?

Yes, if you configure this process. You need to find the “Backup” item in the “Storage Management” block and make sure that it is in the “On” state.

Can I buy 50 GB of iCloud storage and clear my iPhone memory?

No. The “cloud” works differently - files that should be accessible from all devices are transferred here. Simply moving, for example, photos there, removing them from the library and viewing them as needed is very inconvenient, although this is possible through iCloud Drive.

Photos in the cloud

How to see what's stored in iCloud? The answer depends on what kind of data we are talking about. Photos on Apple devices are in great demand. They are stored in quantities of 1000 for the last 30 days. Older images will be automatically erased from the system.

How to view the cloud on an iPhone, or rather, saved photos? For this it is recommended:

  • Turn on your mobile device and log in with your Apple ID.
  • Open the main menu of the device.
  • Tap on the inscription “Photo”.

That's all. Photos saved in the cloud service will be displayed on the display of your smartphone or tablet. It is advisable to switch to the “General” tab. All available images are stored here. In the “Albums” block, information is sorted by albums.

Applications

But that is not all! Applications in the iPhone cloud are also saved. Moreover, using iCloud you can manage the data on your phone or tablet. It's very convenient and simple!

How to see what's in iCloud? We've already dealt with photographs. What about applications? To search and view them, you can proceed as follows:

  1. Look at “Settings” - Apple ID.
  2. Tap on the “iCloud” sign.
  3. Click on the “Manage storage” inscription.

It is done! Now you can see what applications are on your phone. To control them, you need to tap on the corresponding lines. After this, a functional menu will appear on the device’s display, in which it is proposed to configure the operation of the selected program.

Other files

How to view files in iCloud via iPhone? It was said earlier that the user has to look for an answer to such a question, taking into account what information needs to be studied.

We sorted out the photos and applications. How can you see what is stored as documents in iCloud? This is another elementary task!

To achieve the desired result, the user just needs to go to the iCloud main menu, then select “Manage” and tap on “Other files”. The display will show information about which documents were “stored” in the Apple cloud service. Now they can be controlled. For example, delete.

Pause uploading files to iCloud Photo Library

When iCloud Photos is turned on, the time it takes to upload photos and videos to iCloud depends on the size of your collection and the speed of your Internet connection. If you have a large collection of photos and videos, it may take longer than usual to send. You can view the status of a submission and pause it for one day.

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos. You can also open the Photos app, select the Photos tab, and scroll all the way down the screen.
  • On your Mac, open Photos. Select Photos from the sidebar, then click Photos or Moments from the list of tabs in the toolbar. Scroll to the bottom of the photos and click Pause.

iCloud Drive and securing storage space

With the next iOS update, modern owners of Apple devices have the opportunity to store data from all applications in a cloud service. To do this, you need to activate iCloud Drive. This option stores photos, videos, correspondence and other information from applications and instant messengers.

Unfortunately, it is iCloud Drive that causes a rapid shortage of space in cloud storage. Therefore, reviews from experienced owners of Apple devices indicate that it is better to disable the corresponding option.

You can do this as follows:

  1. Go to “Storage Management”. We have already talked about how to do this.
  2. Tap on the line “iCloud Drive”.
  3. Move the toggle switch to the “Off” position.
  4. Save the changes made.

Typically, this technique helps to clear up space in cloud storage quite quickly. But what other settings might be useful to the modern owner of an Apple device?

Afterword

The option of obtaining your data using a modern browser and the official website icloud.com was described in detail. The method of accessing cloud information through the iCloud program was also discussed.

We hope you were able to sign into iCloud from your computer. We will be glad to receive your feedback and will be happy to answer your questions.

Need more iCloud storage? It can be easily released or purchased.

When you set up iCloud, you automatically get 5GB of storage. It can be used to back up to iCloud, store photos and videos in iCloud Photos, and sync documents through iCloud Drive. You can also free up or purchase iCloud storage space at any time. You can purchase a subscription starting from 50 GB for $0.99 per month. When you choose a 200GB or 2TB plan, you can share storage with family members. For more information about plans and pricing for your region, see this article.

Backups

We've figured out how to see what's in iCloud. But what to do with the cloud service settings? It was previously said that this application allows you to create backup copies of your Apple ID.

Need to set up a backup of information from your smartphone? Then it is recommended to do the following:

  • Look at the iCloud management menu.
  • Click on the words “Backups”.
  • Set the necessary parameters for saving data, as well as format the created backup copies, if necessary. For example, you can set the “Create when connected to the Network” option. In this case, an iCloud backup will be created when the mobile device is connected to the Network and a power source.
  • Save changes.

As a rule, it is from this stage that you need to start setting up a cloud service. Otherwise, backup data will either not be created at all, or it will take up all the free space on the cloud.

How the cloud works on iPhone

The service is an analogue of Dropbox, Google Drive and Yandex.Disk, and works on a similar principle. It is built on streaming files to local Apple server “depots”. Visually it looks like this.

A user on an iPhone takes a new photo, records a video, or processes a text file, and the built-in iOS monitoring system instantly saves them to the device’s internal cache. The next time you connect to a Wi-Fi network, the operating system connects to the cloud storage and sends information about the creation of new files or changes made to the server. The synchronization process is automatic, so Apple's local "database" stores updated materials.

At the time of uploading from a smartphone to iCloud, the file is divided into several fragments and thus distributed across different servers. When you need to download a file from the cloud back to your smartphone, it is automatically assembled into a single whole using computing equipment and transferred to the owner’s phone.

You can, for example, immediately synchronize with devices connected to a specific Apple ID when new photos appear. Or enable/disable automatic uploading of photos to the data cloud.

To achieve the desired goal it is recommended:

  1. Go to “Manage iCloud” using the method described earlier.
  2. Click on the line labeled “Photo”.
  3. In the window that appears, configure the display of photos and save them to iCloud. For example, by turning on the “Media Library...” toggle switch, a person activates the automatic saving of created pictures to iCloud.

Removing iCloud

How to delete a cloud on an iPhone? No way. This option is built into all Apple devices. But you can disconnect from it. Although, it is advisable not to do this.

To disable iCloud you will need:

  • Go to “Settings” - “Apple ID” - “iCloud”.
  • Click on “Exit”.
  • Confirm that you are logging out of your cloud service account.

There is nothing unclear about the procedure. If you want to reset iCloud settings on your device entirely, you can simply sign out of your Apple ID or force a rollback of OS settings.

You can also view the iPhone cloud on your computer. To do this, you will have to go to the icloud.com page, and then log in to your Apple ID.

Select what you want to sync

If you go to iCloud settings, you will see a bunch of items, and opposite there are switches. Select the types of data that should be on all your devices: photos, contacts, calendars, notes. It's better not to disable the Find My iPhone feature - if it's stolen or lost, you'll thank yourself.

Additional items that can also be synchronized are hidden in other menu tabs. For example, you can receive calls on all devices, regardless of which one you are being called on. Just turn on the toggle switch in the FaceTime item. To sync all messages across devices, go to the “Messages” section. There you can add all the email addresses and phone numbers where SMS should be sent.
