For example, the dimensions of the Galaxy M31s are 15.9 x 7.4 x 0.9 cm. At the same time, the phone is convenient to operate even with one hand, but not for long, since its weight is 209 grams.

The body of the phone is reliably disguised as tempered glass, but after the purchase it will become clear that it is actually “glastic” - something between plastic and glass. It is durable and quickly wipes off dirt. The front part consists of glass, but it is already fragile, despite the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass (only 3 generations).

Therefore, immediately after purchasing, you should get a protective glass and a case!

It is worth noting that the new product practically repeats the design of the Galaxy M21, released in May 2022. In the upper left corner of the back there is a massive glossy block of four cameras, as well as flashes. The black bezel surrounding the block protects it from damage. The logo is located at the bottom border.

The only difference is the fingerprint scanner on the side next to the unlock button and volume rocker.

Interesting to know! In order to turn on the phone with a fingerprint, you need to swipe across the scanner strip, and not just put your finger on it.

The front camera is made in a “U” shape and hangs over the screen, the lower part is covered by a black strip (5 mm). The developers also retained the jack connector for wired headphones. It, like the USB connector, is located at the bottom. Quite a practical solution in case of rain!

The Galaxy M31s package is distinguished by a miniature box, which actually contains only the necessary things:

• SIM slot clip (additional space for memory card);
• Brand adapter for charging;
• USB cable (suitable only for Samsung models);
• Coupons, certificates.

Unfortunately, users will not find transparent cases in the boxes; they will have to be purchased independently. The body of the model is easily soiled and even a drop of water can leave stains, so you should choose bright colors. Meanwhile, there are only two of them: black and blue with a gradient.

Phone size

For reference: there are 2.54 cm in one inch.

Screen size is what determines the ease of using a smartphone not only for calls, but also for comfortable viewing of photos and videos. But let's return to the smartphones in question - they have different display sizes: the Galaxy M31 has a slightly smaller one. Let's also pay attention to the weight and thickness of the models: the Galaxy M31 weighs a little less and is a little thinner than the Galaxy M31s.

Samsung Galaxy M31: design and display

Even though the budget segment smartphone comes at an affordable price of around RUB 15,000, the Galaxy M31 does not disappoint when it comes to the display it comes with. Similar to the panels we've seen on other Samsung smartphones lately, it's also quite wide and has good viewing angles as well as punchy colors.

Due to the fact that the Galaxy M31 was released in the budget price category, the phone's display has a rather massive frame (compared to more expensive models), which houses a 6.4-inch Full HD + Super AMOLED display.

However, when you watch movies or play games on the device, the Infinity-V display does not distract the user too much from the content you are watching and provides a good immersion in games.

To make the device more attractive, Samsung has also used 2.5D curved glass on the top of the display.

If we talk about the body of the phone, then to the right of the Galaxy M31 there is a power button and just above it a volume rocker. The 2+1 device's SIM card slot is located on the left, and at the bottom there is a Type C port flanked by a 3.5mm jack and a mono speaker grille on each side.

If we go back, next to the phone's quad-modular camera is a fingerprint scanner, which at first glance is very reminiscent of the Galaxy S10 Lite. However, as we will discuss later in the review, both modules are not similar to each other.

The phone body is made of glossy plastic, which is especially susceptible to getting dirty from fingerprints. Samsung launched the device in two different colors - Ocean Blue and Space Black.

This gives you the ability to include wider space in your frame by simply pressing a button inside the camera app. However, the ultra-wide lens on the device isn't the most impressive, and it manages to take photos that often look a little grainy and appear blurry.

The phone also offers a dedicated 5-megapixel macro lens for macro photography, which we found quite good. In addition to all this, there is a 5-megapixel depth lens for taking live-focus portrait shots. When pressed in well-lit areas, the images are normal, but in low light there are some imperfections.
