Apple recently decided to expand its special student program, which will allow you to save money when paying for an Apple Music subscription. Most recently, the Apple Music student subscription was activated exclusively for residents of Australia, Germany, USA, Denmark, UK, Ireland, New Zealand. And recently there was a launch in another thirty-five new countries, including the Russian Federation.
What is the difference between a subscription and others?
The difference between an Apple Music student subscription and a regular one is that it is about 60% cheaper. In terms of money, a regular subscription costs 169 rubles, but a student subscription costs 75 rubles. Agree, the savings are obvious, and who wouldn’t want to take advantage of such a unique opportunity? It’s worth immediately taking into account that student and family accounts are mutually exclusive options, no matter that we are talking about a couple of students.

I obtained my license using the university mail:
- I went to the company’s website and clicked the Apply Now button.
- On the page that appeared, I chose the confirmation method by mail and indicated my university email.
- I confirmed my email by opening my university email, finding a letter from Jet Brains and following the link.
- I downloaded the programs I needed.
If there is no university mail, then in the second step you can choose other ways to confirm your student status: send a photo of your student ID or ISIC student card.
Can everyone activate a subscription?
The Apple Music student subscription, as you already understood, is available to students. If you are not a student, then you will not be able to register for it, because the service constantly checks the fact that you are a student, and if the administration sees a fraud, then you will automatically switch to an individual subscription, you may even be deprived of the right to use a student subscription in the future (suddenly you want to start studying again in the University).
Now there is a new option on the display for selecting the type of subscription to the service, this is where a little earlier users were able to switch only between a personal and family account. Apple Music for students is available at a discount if you can verify your enrollment through UNiDAYS. There the user will need to enter the name of the educational institution and email address to confirm the fact of study. It should be remembered that some small educational institutions may not be included in the service database.

How to get an Apple Music student subscription quickly?
If you're a student and decide to take advantage of this generous offer from Apple, you'll need to take two high-quality photos of your student ID. The name of the educational institution, your first and last name, and the expiration date of your student card should be clearly visible there. Once you have taken two photos, you can move on to the question of how to get an Apple Music student subscription:
1. Go to the “Settings” section. Next, go to “iTunes Store and App Store”.
2. Click on your account name. Click View Apple ID.
3. Find the “Subscriptions” tab and select “Apple Music”.
4. Find the “Student” tariff plan, then click on “Confirm student status.” You will be automatically redirected to the UNIDAYS website. Apple Music student subscription is not possible without this site.
5. Now enter the name of your educational institution on the portal, then click on “Continue”.
6. Now you will need to find “UNIDAYS Support Service” and click on “Contact Support”.
7. Create an application to confirm your student status. Fill out the form and indicate your address so that the administration has the opportunity to contact you.
8. It usually takes two days to wait for an answer. Next, you will be asked to confirm your student status, and for this you will need your previously taken student ID photos.
9. Once your student status is confirmed, you will be able to sign up for a budget subscription.

Yes, this is not the fastest process, but if you want to listen to music legally and pay a little at the same time, then you should endure all the bureaucratic nuances and save for a couple of years. Can I subscribe via Mac or PC?
If you're wondering how to get an Apple Music student subscription on your Mac or PC, it's easy. Follow the following instructions:
1. Open iTunes on your device.
2. Find the “Music” section in the upper corner, then select “For You” (it is located in the upper zone of iTunes).
3. If you are signing up for a subscription for the first time, and have previously used a free trial period, now click on “Student Subscription”.
4. Next click on “Verify Eligibility”. Your browser window will open and the UNiDAYS website will open.
5. Enter your email address and start searching for an educational institution.
6. If you already have a UNiDAYS account, then click on “Already verified with UNiDAYS?” translated this means “Has the UNiDAYS check already been carried out?” and log in to the portal.
7. Once you log into the portal, your student status will be verified, you will be redirected to the iTunes program and you can complete your subscription.
8. If required, you will also enter your Apple ID and password so that you have access to the iTunes Store.
9. You may also need to confirm your payment information, but don't worry, if you're on the free trial and have verified student status, you won't be billed until the trial period has passed. Enter the required payment method and click on the “Subscribe” button.
Confirm student status
At the end of each year of your Apple Music student membership, you'll see a message in the Music app or iTunes on Windows asking you to confirm your student status. You can also verify your student status at any time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
In the Music app or iTunes for Windows
If a message appears asking you to confirm your student status, follow these steps:
- Click "Verify Student Status."
- Click "Go to Website".
- Log in to your school's portal.
- This will launch Apple Music with a confirmation screen.
In Settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Go to Settings > [your name] and tap Subscriptions.
- Click Subscribe to Apple Music.
- Click "Verify Student Status." You will be redirected to the UNiDAYS service website.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to confirm your status. If confirmed successfully, Apple Music will launch and your student subscription will be renewed.
Are you no longer a student?
If you're no longer a student or your 48-month Apple Music student subscription has expired, your subscription automatically becomes individual and your free access to Apple TV+ ends. If you're prompted to confirm your status after launching Apple Music, but you're no longer a student or your 48 months of student membership have expired, click "I'm No Longer a Student." After this, confirmation will not be requested.
If you do not confirm your status within the verification period and the 48 months have not yet expired, you will be registered as a student again.
How to subscribe from an Android device?
Do not worry. If you are not the owner of an Apple device, but you like their music service, then you can download the application and use it successfully (though for a fee, of course). What you need to do for this:
1. Download the required application from Google Play.
2. Launch the application.
3. If you are registering for a student subscription, then click on it.
4. Confirm that you are a student.
5. Click on “Verify Eligibility” and a browser window will appear.
6. Enter your email address and find your educational institution.
7. Log in to the portal after logging in first. The system will check your student status, and after checking, a message will be displayed asking you to activate the application. Select "Open with Apple Music" and you can return to the program to finish activating your subscription.
8. If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password.

Few people know how to pay for a subscription. Some people believe that this can only be done through a credit card, but this is not entirely true. Below are all possible payment methods:
- credit and debit cards;
- mobile phone account through supported operators;
- using your Apple ID account balance.
What should those who are part of a family subscription do?
In this case, you really don't need a student subscription. However, if you are part of a family group and want to change your current subscription to a student subscription, the creator of your family will need to pay not only for the shared family subscription, but also for your student subscription.
As you can see, this is not entirely profitable, so it is better to continue to take advantage of the family subscription. If you decide to simply pay for the student subscription yourself, the family subscription creator will need to remove you from the group, you will enter your payment information, and you will pay the bills yourself.
