How to connect Samsung Gear S2 or S3 smartwatch to any iPhone

An iOS application for managing your watch has appeared, although not in the App Store.

A lot of time has passed since the CES exhibition earlier this year, and Samsung still has not officially released its proprietary utility for managing smartwatches on iOS.

However, progress does not stand still and today every iPhone owner can fully start using the Samsung S2 or S3 wearable gadget by installing the unreleased official Gear S3 application on their iOS gadget. True, not through the official App Store, but without any hacking or dancing with a tambourine.

Is it possible to connect an Android smartwatch to an iPhone?

Recently, there has been a trend associated with the transition of Yabloko to wearable gadgets running Android. There are basically two reasons here:

  • The price of products from Cupertino has long been the talk of the town: analogues from other manufacturers cost half as much.
  • The design of Apple smartwatches leaves many questions for the developers - I want something different that would emphasize the style of its owner.

Some smartwatches are indistinguishable from real ones in appearance

So how to connect a smart watch to an iPhone? Fortunately, programmers heard the aspirations of ordinary users and now it is possible to use a smart chronometer from most manufacturers with the iPhone. At the same time, there is no need to dance with tambourines - just a couple of applications and simple manipulations with them.

Huawei Health app

This application was created specifically for athletes. You can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play. To immediately install the software on your device, the user can, after unpacking the smartwatch, scan the QR code in the manual using a special application downloaded to the smartphone in advance. Finally, you must agree to the terms of use, read the privacy requirements and, if you wish, open access to data about the location of the device.

The Huawei Health app allows you to:

  • create a training schedule and monitor your results;
  • receive information about sleep quality;
  • exchange data with other users.

How to connect Galaxy Watch 4 to iPhone

Not long ago, Samsung introduced a new generation of its smartwatches, which many people liked. But, unlike previous generations, they cannot be connected to iOS devices - we wrote about this in our Yandex.Zen. Samsung also clarified that the new Galaxy Watch 4 can only work with smartphones running Android 6.0 and later, and the new accessory can only be activated using a smartphone that supports Google Mobile Services and the Google Play app store.

Setting up the Home Button

Just like the volume control on smartphones, the Home button on your watch is customizable. By default, it launches the Bixby assistant. Few people use it, so the button can be assigned to launch a more useful application.

To do this, open Advanced Settings in the Wearable app. Select from the options available here such as Speed Dial, Contacts, Alarm Clock, Find My Phone, etc. Speed dialing requires access to a microphone.

Is it possible to link several smart watches to an Android device?

The connection algorithm is similar to the previous one:

  1. Open the application and turn on the phone.
  2. Under the name of the already connected clock, press the down arrow. Select “New”.
  3. We repeat the connection procedure. We synchronize the smartphone with another gadget.

If necessary, you can connect a third watch. There are no restrictions on quantity.

Now, until you yourself want to break the connection or the Internet connection is interrupted, the pairing of the phone with the watch will be active.

Reference! Communication in a smart watch is supported using a regular SIM card or via a Wi-Fi network.

Activating Screen Recording

Sometimes you need to take a screenshot. For example, to show problems with an application or create a guide for setting up something. Samsung thought about this too.

You need to press the Back and Home buttons at the same time, then make a gesture across the screen from left to right. This will result in a screenshot being taken. To view, open the Gallery on your smartwatch.

What to do if the watch does not connect

How to connect a fitness bracelet to an iPhone and set up the application

Experience suggests that the most common reason why the watch does not connect to the iPhone is that Bluetooth is not working. You need to check its status and if this is the case, try synchronizing again.

The battery level can also prevent the smart watch from connecting to the Apple gadget. It is possible that the pairing with the Android phone is interfering with the connection. In this case, you need to restart the watch and turn off Bluetooth on your Android smartphone.

If even after all the steps described above the connection does not occur, a drastic solution is used - resetting the gadget to factory settings.

Can it connect to other phones?

By following the instructions, you can connect the smart bracelet to any phone. But to work with such smartphones, you will also need to download and install the Huawei Wear utility. You can find it in the Google Play market.

After installing Huawei Wear, you need to open the program and follow further instructions: confirm the user agreement, register and provide your own data, including weight and height. Then you need to connect the wireless connection and find Honor Band 4 in the list that opens. To complete pairing, press the corresponding button on the bracelet.

What features does the Galaxy Watch app have?

The Galaxy Watch app is very simple and intuitive

The Galaxy Watch app for iOS doesn't have any fancy features. However, it can be used to comfortably control Samsung smartwatches. You can connect or disconnect your watch to your iPhone, install and customize apps if you need to, or turn on finding your watch if you've forgotten where you left it. In addition, the function of setting up notifications from applications is conveniently implemented in order to filter out the necessary push notifications in advance, for example, from our Telegram channel, in order to learn about all the news from the world of technology in a timely manner. It is important to remember that you can use the application only when the accessory is connected. Otherwise the functions will not work.

What smartwatch functions will be available after connecting to an iPhone?

Even though the watch is connected to the iPhone, there are limitations to what it can do. So, on all such devices there is no ability to make calls directly on the watch. Yes, they will notify their owner about an incoming call, but they will have to answer the call through the iPhone.

All alerts and notifications received on the iPhone will also be displayed on the watch itself, and this option is customizable. Thus, you can select messages from which applications will be visible on the display of the Android smart chronometer.

You can read information about your status on the go

SMS messages can be viewed on the screen of a smartwatch, but in order to respond to them, you will have to take your iPhone out of your pocket: a wearable device paired with an iPhone does not have a similar function.

The good news is that music from your smartphone can also be played from your watch, and you can even customize your playlist to enjoy your favorite hits while working out or jogging.

The iconic features that made smart watches so popular: measuring heart rate, distance traveled, tracker - all this will work perfectly in conjunction with an iPhone.

Thus, even owning an Apple smartphone does not impose restrictions on the use of wearable gadgets: everything can be solved with the help of special applications for smart watches on the iPhone. However, there is one small catch: not all functions available to Android device owners will be available when pairing a smartwatch with an iPhone.

A way to connect a smartwatch to a phone without an application

If your smartwatch connects to your phone without using an application (and the instructions for it directly confirm this), then the procedure is as follows:

  1. Go to your smartphone's settings;
  2. There, find the “Bluetooth” section and activate the Bluetooth connection; Activate Bluetooth connection
  3. If the functionality of your phone requires it, activate the discovery mode there, which allows other Bluetooth devices to find your phone;
  4. Turn on your smartwatch. Usually, this requires holding down their main multifunction button for a few seconds until they turn on;

    Turn on your smart watch

  5. On your smartphone, in the Bluetooth settings, click on the “Search” button or similar to start the process of searching for nearby Bluetooth devices; Click on “Search”
  6. Your smart bracelet will appear in the list of found devices. Tap on their name;
  7. After this, some code may appear. Make sure the code on your phone and watch match. Click on “Pair” or a similar button to synchronize the devices with each other. The connection procedure will be completed.

Smart watch Samsung Galaxy Watch 4: review after a month and a half of use

A couple of months ago, Samsung presented the world with its new smartwatch Galaxy Watch 4, the main feature of which was its work on the Wear OS operating system and support for Google services. The system provides access to a huge base of applications that you are used to seeing on your Android smartphone, and the scenarios for using the watch are limited only by your imagination and desires.

The Galaxy Watch 4 series of smart watches includes 4 models. Galaxy Watch 4 40 mm and Galaxy Watch 4 44 mm are elegant watches with a sleek design and a durable aluminum case. They have a more affordable price and their design is more suitable for our fair half of humanity. Another 2 models are Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 42 mm and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46 mm. These models have a more aggressive design, are equipped with a rotating bezel and have a larger battery that provides better autonomy. At the first opportunity, I pre-ordered the top version of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46 mm and have been actively using it for the last 1.5 months: sports, swimming, outdoor activities and travel, snorkeling - this is just part of what the watch has experienced during this time. Only now have I finally formed my opinion, which means it’s time for a detailed review. In short, this is perhaps the best Android smartwatch that exists today among all manufacturers. Of course, there are aspects that I would like to improve, and some can frankly be considered shortcomings, but based on the totality of factors, the Galaxy Watch 4 is the best thing on the wearable electronics market.

Technical characteristics of Galaxy Watch4 Classic 46 mm:

  • Screen : Super AMOLED 1.4″ with resolution 450x450, 330 ppi, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass DX

Video version of the review

Find out the current price

Packaging and equipment

The watch is delivered in a compact oblong box, on the front of which there is a high-quality print and the name of the model.

The watch is stated to have been manufactured in Vietnam in August 2021.

Inside, in addition to the watch, you can find: wireless charging, a small manual for the initial start-up and a warranty card.

Charger and charging speed

The USB wireless charger is shaped like a puck. The power supply is not included, but you can use the USB of your computer or laptop, as well as any 5V power supply, to charge the watch.

The platform is magnetic to the back and securely fixed, and thanks to its flat base it additionally serves as a stand. The watch is placed in a natural, stable position with the screen facing up, and with AOD turned on, you continue to see the time and notifications.

The maximum charge taken by the watch was 0.46A or 2.33W, and the entire process from 0% to 100% takes 1 hour 55 minutes. Namely:

  • 10 minutes - 10%
  • 30 minutes - 27%
  • 1 hour - 63%
  • 1 hour 55 minutes - 100%

By the way, one of the pre-order bonuses was a gift in the form of a Samsung Wireless Charger Duo wireless charger. A very cool and convenient charger that immediately settled on my desktop. It supports simultaneous charging of a smartphone and watch and looks great in the interior. I only use the included charger when traveling.

Appearance, strap, controls

First of all, it was because of the design that I chose the older model Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The regular Galaxy Watch 4 lacks a bezel and the glass is essentially unprotected. They look less aggressive and, in my opinion, are more suitable for a formal suit or a woman, that is, they are designed for careful everyday use. But the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is a more masculine option that goes well with both casual and sportswear. The watch is designed for harsher operating conditions: the durable case is made of stainless steel, and the screen is recessed relative to the bezel.

The latest Corning Gorilla Glass DX has very good scratch protection; after 2 months of active, sometimes even extreme use, not a single scratch appeared on the screen. And the watch has already endured quite a lot: swimming in the sea and pool, extreme entertainment like riding ATVs and buggies, carrying a backpack in a common pocket along with a power bank and other items, and not the most careful use on my part, which results in frequent hits furniture and surrounding objects.

For control, there are 2 physical buttons “home” and “back” on the right side and a rotating bezel, with which you can navigate through the menu. The screen is naturally touch sensitive and also participates in control.

The bezel turns with little effort and has a distinct fragmentation that is clearly tactile. It is possible to use both two fingers and one. Scrolling through a message or moving through menu items in this way is much more convenient; once you try it, you will never want any other controls.

The multimedia speaker is located on the left side. Its volume is sufficient for notifications, ringtones or hands-free calls. Through the watch you can make and receive calls, both classic ones via mobile communications and Internet communication, for example Viber or Telgram. You can make calls from the watch either directly (in the LTE version) or by connecting to your smartphone.

On the inside there are the main sensors and sensors that are used to measure pulse, pressure, stress level, blood oxygen saturation, etc.

The strap is made of durable fluoroelastomer and is very pleasant and soft to the touch. You can hardly feel the watch on your hand, it is comfortable to sleep in it. The classic and reliable design of the buckle ensures that the watch will not unfasten on its own under outer clothing and will not get lost when swimming in the sea.

However, I do have some complaints about the strap in terms of durability. In places of contact with outer clothing, the coating has already begun to peel off. This coating provides a deep matte finish, and underneath the more glossy surface of the original material is visible. This point is frustrating, because in an expensive watch you expect higher quality materials.

But fortunately, the strap here is replaceable, and original, metal, fabric and leather options are available for sale for every taste and color. All this stuff isn’t expensive, so I’ve already ordered several different straps “for replacement.”

Another significant point for me is the location of the buttons. It is organized in such a way that it eliminates accidental pressing in any position of the hand. I think the owners of Chinese watches now understand what I’m talking about; when moving, when you lean on your hand, the outer part of it often presses the buttons. Here everything is measured down to millimeters and accidental clicks are excluded in principle.

The watch looks great on the wrist, offering a mixture of classic and sporty. I really love the different analogue dials and here they really suit the overall design of the watch. In my opinion, the target audience of this watch is men over 25 years old.

There are no questions about the thickness; despite its somewhat aggressive nature, the watch looks neat even on a hand with a small wrist.

Screen

Samsung is a global manufacturer of displays for all kinds of technology. Their screens are found in TVs and smartphones of even direct competitors, and God himself ordered the best they can do to be installed in their flagship watches. Yes, in fact it is: a Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 450x450 provides 330 ppi detail, which makes the image as detailed and realistic as possible. The pixels are so small that the eyes cannot distinguish them and the image on the screen looks very cool.

The second point is the excellent contrast, which, together with the endless black color, makes the image very colorful and attractive.

The screen is very bright and you can easily read any information from it under any light source. In general, the quality of the screen for a smartwatch is the most important thing, and here the Galaxy Watch 4 has no equal. About a year ago I had an Amazfit T-Rex and in general it was a good watch, if not for its dim, low-resolution screen. After only 3 months I had to sell them, because I didn’t get any joy from using them, and in the sun they were completely useless.

But the Galaxy Watch 4 behaves perfectly in the sun; even in the open air you can check the time or read a notification.

Here the dial is darker and everything is still clearly visible, although the sun is almost at its zenith.

An equally important feature for watches is the Always On Display function, which was actually first invented by Samsung, after which it was picked up by other manufacturers who began installing AMOLED screens in their devices. Its essence is that the image is constantly displayed on the screen, but due to the fact that in this type of screen the black color does not consume energy, the battery consumption does not increase by much. At the same time, the more black color predominates in the image, the less charge will be consumed. In a watch, this function is paramount for me and I don’t understand watches where in order to see the time you need to press something or make a certain gesture. It’s convenient for me to have the time displayed on the screen constantly and with a quick glance I can immediately see it. The watch is already pre-installed with two and a half dozen dials and each of them has its own AOD display option. Remembering the T-rex again, what irritated me about them was that despite the chosen dial, the AOD was always the same, and not the best in design. Here, each dial has 2 display options: normal and AOD. Normal mode is activated when you look at the watch by raising it closer to your face or pressing the physical button, while AOD is displayed for the remaining time. For example, here is one of the dials in the main mode.

It is also in AOD mode, when energy consumption is reduced by filling it with black.

This is certainly not the most energy-efficient option; there are also more minimalistic ones, for example, I like analog ones.

The watch has an ambient light sensor, so the screen brightness is adjusted automatically: outdoors it turns it up to maximum, and indoors it dims it down to a minimum, especially if the room is dark. This applies to both the general watch mode and AOD, which allows you to see information on the screen not only in complete darkness, but also in daylight.

As for the dials, about two dozen are already preset in the watch. They are all very different and everyone can choose something for themselves. There are digital and analogue, minimalistic and informative, bright and strict. Most dials are animated, for example, if it is analog, then we see a moving second hand; if it is graphic, then there are interactive elements, for example, an emoji on the screen reacts to some of your actions, and a sports dial shows your workout progress and certain physical indicators. Here are a few examples that I liked.

Each watch face has its own features, for example, on one you can see your daily step progress and weather, while on the other you can see barometric pressure and a compass. On some watch faces you can only change the visual style, such as the color of the background or the hands, while on others you can choose the number of elements and what exactly they will display. There is even a dial where you can use your photos as a background.

You can change the style of the watch by holding your finger on the main screen for a few seconds, and here you can also do some personalization and customization.

And with the Galaxy Wearable app, you can download new watch faces for free and customize them in a more convenient way. The number of watch faces will be replenished periodically, but if this is not enough for you, then remember that the watch runs on Wear OS and go to the market in search of your ideal.

What can a watch do?

Yes, in principle, everything that modern smartwatches can do. This is both a companion that notifies you about calls and messages and a stand-alone device that can be used for communication. For example, you receive a notification about a message from Viber, read it and immediately respond. There are preset phrases, there is a virtual keyboard, or you can simply dictate a message, and the watch itself will translate it into text. The second point is sports and health, everything here concerns training, load, activity measurements and physical indicators. Well, the third point is your personal needs. Some people are keen on running, recording their tracks and performance using GPS. Some people use the watch to control music or camera. There are many important features that you might not immediately remember, such as tracking snoring during sleep, which they then record as an audio file. You can also spend hours paying for your purchase in a store because there is an NFC module. There is also a barometer and magnetometer with which the compass works and atmospheric pressure is determined. They even determine the height. Well, in the end, you can install any application from the market yourself and get new functionality. Do you use Strava or prefer Google Fit? Install and use for your health.

And now I propose to take a look at the watch interfaces and their capabilities. Above the main screen is a quick access panel to frequently used functions. Here you can adjust the screen brightness, turn on sleep mode or airplane mode, switch to silent mode, enable energy saving, NFC and activate the screen lock in water. You can arrange shortcuts in the desired sequence, remove unnecessary ones and add something else. For example, in winter you can add a sensitive screen mode, which allows you to operate the watch with gloves.

Below the main screen are applications that are installed on the system. Out of the box you'll see a standard set of pre-installed programs, including useful tools like an alarm clock, calculator, timer, or weather. There is a Google dialer, messages, gallery, audio player, remote control of the smartphone camera, maps, compass with altimeter and barometer, voice recorder and other useful applications. The order of applications can be changed in any way.

But the main thing is that there is the Play Market, which allows you to install any application adapted for the watch. This is essentially the main difference with some watch on a closed system, for example Amazfit GTS 2, where applications are strictly pre-installed and their list is very limited. Here, new applications appear constantly and you can install them at any time, expanding the functionality of the watch. For example, now there are Spotify and Youtube Music, Strava and Google Fit, Device Info and WiFi manager, Shazam and Google Pay.

The convenience of the latest application is difficult to overestimate. No, paying by the hour at the checkout is definitely not my main method of payment, but doing it by phone is much easier and more convenient. But the watch has come to the rescue more than once, when I ran out of the house to the store and forgot my smartphone at home. Standing at the checkout with a full basket of goods, the last thing you want is to end up in such a situation. Yes, you can forget your smartphone. And I rarely take my wallet with credit cards and cash with me, most often on trips to another city or country. But the watch is always on your hand and is ready to act as an electronic wallet!

To the right of the main screen there are cards with health and sports functions. This is a classic pedometer that keeps statistics and counts the distance traveled, activity time and calories burned. Statistics are available both for the day and for the period of time. There is also the ability to measure blood oxygen saturation, which is useful for monitoring your health and sleep quality.

For convenience, I will show you the same features from the Samsung Health application, where all collected indicators are sent.

Then you can find sports programs, more than 90 in total. There are all kinds of actions and exercises that track heart rate, distance and other related indicators, which can then be viewed in the form of convenient reports with graphs and explanations.

By the way, in addition to manually launching programs, there is automatic detection. If you walk for a long time, then walking (automatic) will turn on, and when running, running will turn on. But it’s better, of course, to include the desired type of training yourself so that the indicators are collected as correctly as possible. When running, the main indicator of the load is the pulse and, depending on its intensity, you get one or another effect, and by controlling and maintaining it at the desired value, you can achieve maximum results. Also, depending on the program, the speed and distance traveled are calculated using GPS. This will be useful not only for running, but also for cycling, walking, and swimming.

Body composition monitoring is designed to monitor physical fitness and track the dynamics of various indicators. To take measurements, you need to touch the buttons with your fingers, as indicated in the figure, without touching your other hand and wait until the measurements are completed. After the measurements, you will receive information about body composition: skeletal muscle mass, adipose tissue mass and body fat, amount of water in the body and body mass index. By measuring daily, you can track changes and adjust your diet and lifestyle.

No less interesting is the analysis of sleep indicators, for which the watch must remain on the wrist while sleeping. The device accurately determines the time of your sleep and gives it a rating.

Based on measuring heart rate, blood oxygen saturation and your movements, the watch can distinguish between sleep phases, and there is also an automatic snoring detection function.

In a watch, all this is described more concisely, but in a smartphone you can see it in detail, where the exact time of snoring is recorded and an audio recording is made.

Separately, there is heart rate measurement, cardiogram, stress level measurement and blood pressure measurement. The last item is not yet available in Ukraine, so I can’t say anything about accuracy. But in any case, the pressure is measured using a PPG sensor, which means the result cannot be considered completely reliable, because everyone’s blood vessels are different. Although many users note that after calibration the watch shows values very close to real ones. I can only speak for the accuracy of heart rate measurement, which I compared with a medical tonometer and the built-in heart rate monitor of a treadmill - the readings are completely the same.

Moreover, it is important that even during intense exercise, such as running, the watch calculates your pulse accurately. This is really important, because an overwhelming number of Chinese supposedly smart watches can count the pulse only at rest, when the measurements are of zero use. But under load they show such nonsense that you want to immediately smash them against the wall. Galaxy Watch 4 even while running shows adequate performance comparable to a chest heart rate monitor. On the 4PDA forum, in a profile topic, user Ersh posted a rather interesting screenshot, in which it can be seen that the graph obtained by the watch (below) completely repeats the graph at the top (chest heart rate monitor).

Well, the last card is responsible for the music player. You can listen to music both directly from the watch and from your smartphone. Why listen to music from your watch? This is convenient when doing sports, such as jogging. When the smartphone gets in the way, the watch is practically invisible. They can also be connected via Bluetooth to wireless headphones and used as a convenient player that simultaneously tracks heart rate, calculates speed and distance, and also writes a track (if necessary). But you can also control music from your smartphone, using the watch as a kind of remote control. This is convenient if your smartphone is in your bag or pocket. Switching the track or changing the volume using the watch is more convenient and faster than reaching for your smartphone every time.

There are other useful cards, such as weather, calendar with reminders, alarms, etc.

But these cards are naturally not fixed “iron”. You can change the order of their arrangement, remove unnecessary ones, or vice versa from newly installed applications. Want a card with information about your Galaxy Buds 2? No problem. Do you use STRAVA for sports and want to see a card with the start of the desired workouts? Please!

Personal impressions

At the initial meeting after the purchase, I asked the question “why is it so expensive?” But after a few days of use everything fell into place and the issue disappeared by itself. Yes, at first it seems that some Amazfit are no worse and at the same time much cheaper, but the devil is in the details. I will describe some points that I consider important:

  • The Galaxy Watch 4 works very stably and during my use I have never had the connection drop for no reason or messages not arrive. The watch and smartphone work within the apartment without interruption, even across 2 walls from each other, and if, for example, I went outside and the connection was interrupted, then when I returned, the connection was always restored on its own.
  • The measurement accuracy of the indicators is very high, much higher than that of inexpensive fitness watches and fitness bracelets. I gave an example where they compared the heart rate monitor of a watch with a chest heart rate monitor, the same can be said about a pulse oximeter, barometer or pedometer. The device counts banal steps very correctly, cutting off shaking in transport and flapping of hands. This speaks not only about high-quality sensors, but also about well-developed software.
  • Bright screen that's a pleasure to use. The detail is high, the color rendition is colorful, the brightness is sufficient even in bright sunlight. Thanks to this, the dials look very natural and attract the eye. I would also like to note a good oleophobic coating, thanks to which there are no streaks or traces of use on the glass, and even if some dirt appears, it can be easily wiped off with a regular dry cloth.
  • It has good protection against external conditions and is truly waterproof. I swam with the watch in the pool, dived with it in the Red Sea to a depth of 2 - 3 meters without any consequences. In principle, I am not a very careful user when it comes to watches and not a single scratch has appeared on the screen yet, and this already says a lot.
  • Very smooth operation of the interfaces and no stuttering. This was made possible thanks to the use of the latest Samsung Exynos W920 chipset, which was introduced shortly before the release of the watch. The W920 received two ARM Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 1.8 GHz and a Mali-G68 GPU and was created using a 5 nm process technology. The chipset provides high speed with smooth animation without slowdown.
  • There are GPS, NFC, WiFi and wireless Qi charging, which also significantly expands the capabilities of the device
  • Wide range of possibilities thanks to the Wear OS system. Today I need one thing - I use one list of applications, and tomorrow I will need something else and I can always find the right application in the market.
  • High-quality case materials and protective glass. Even tactilely, the watch feels expensive and reliable. The strap would also be pretty good if it didn’t begin to peel off after just a month of use.

Autonomy

I want to make it clear right away that if you make the most of all the functions on a watch, then it lasts for 24 hours. If moderate, then 2 days. And in my opinion this is a good result. For example, my scenario: AOD is always turned on and the dial is not the most economical, I also use GPS (1 - 1.5 hours a day), during training I listen to music through wireless headphones, all notifications from instant messengers come to the watch screen, and at night the snoring detection mode + constant measurement of oxygen levels in the blood works. In this mode, it lasts me almost 1.5 days (by lunchtime of the second day I put it on recharge). This is significantly less than fitness watches and bracelets, which work quietly for 2 weeks, but everything is very limited in terms of functionality and it is not correct to compare them. It can be compared with cheap smart watches that the Chinese learned to make using regular “smartphone” processors and installed full-fledged Android there. I had several such models, for example, one of them ran on a 4-core MT6739 and had full Android 7.1 on board. But with active use, such watches did not even survive until lunchtime... Therefore, I repeat that autonomy for more than a day or 2 days without GPS is an acceptable result.

Compatibility

Maximum compatibility of the watch is naturally only with Samsung Galaxy smartphones. The watch will work the same way with other Android smartphones, but without the function of measuring blood pressure and ECG. Although this issue will most likely be resolved by the craftsmen on w3bsit3-dns.com. But the watch is not compatible with the iPhone at all, which is quite understandable, because we have 2 competing manufacturers on completely different operating systems.

Settings

Finally, let's look at the watch settings, which will also give an understanding of the functions and capabilities. Actually, the parameters can be changed directly on the watch and it looks very similar to the usual settings items of a regular Android system.

Likewise through the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone. I will show the settings using the example of this application, because it is more informative for perception. And just a few words about the initial connection. My Samsung S10 immediately detected the watch and offered to connect, after which it automatically installed the software. After that, he suggested copying the accounts to the watch, which made setting up and installing applications much easier.

Then you can download a backup copy or enable automatic creation. At the next stage, the watch was updated to the latest firmware version, and recently received another fresh update. With this in place, you can move on to fine-tuning the watch via Galaxy Wearable. On the main screen you see the installed dial, and below are the settings items.

You can change the watch face or download a new one, change the order of applications and cards, and add new cards. Here you can also configure the quick access panel.

Galaxy Wath settings allow you to change basic settings, such as setting notifications (which apps to receive and which not), choosing a notification tone and ringtone, and adjusting the type and intensity of vibration. The vibration is clearly noticeable even under clothing and while moving, so you won’t miss a notification. In the screen settings you can enable AOD and also activate gestures.

In additional functions, you can reassign the actions of physical buttons. For example, by default, double-tapping the home button will take you back to the last app you used, but you can reassign it to quickly launch any app. There is also control using gestures: by shaking your hand twice you will accept a call, by turning your wrist twice you will hang up. And of course there is synchronization of music and gallery. That is, if you want music from your smartphone to be on the watch, you just need to select which playlists will be automatically downloaded to the watch. You can, of course, transfer files manually, both from and to the watch.

The application also allows you to check for updates and, if necessary, download and install them on your watch. There is also access to the store, where only applications adapted for the watch are displayed. Although, in principle, by going to a regular market you can also select the desired application and if it is compatible with the watch, then the line “can be installed on Samsung SM-R890” will appear below.

Again. All the above actions can be performed from the watch; all these settings are available there too. Miniature screenshots from watches are simply not very easy to read.

Galaxy Watch 4 is the first Samsung smartwatch to switch to Wear OS and it certainly benefited them. No matter how good Tizen is, it greatly loses to the competition of Android in the openness of the system and, accordingly, the variety of applications. Objectively, the Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch, and in particular the Classic version, is the most technologically advanced and advanced device on the wearable technology market. In terms of functionality, they have no equal. Among the shortcomings, I can note the unsuccessful coating of the strap, which began to peel off after a month. On the other hand, no one bothers you to buy a separate leather or metal strap separately, since the choice is simply huge.

Adding tracks and connecting Bluetooth headphones

A smart watch can double as a music player. Here you can store audio files in memory of 4 GB. You need to add these files to your storage, connect your wireless headphones and you can start listening. This is especially useful when walking or jogging, so as not to carry a heavy smartphone with you.

To add tracks, open the app and go to Add content to your watch > Add tracks. Depending on the number of ringtones, the time it takes to add files may vary.

To connect headphones, go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Bluetooth headphones and click the Scan . Make sure your headphones are turned on when searching for them.

Ripping a couple of hours from iPhone

If you need to break a pair, you need to do the following:

  • Pick up your iPhone and go to the Watch app;
  • Click on the "i" symbol;
  • Break up the pair.

If the devices are far from each other:

  • Go to the Watch app settings;
  • Select “Basic”;
  • Click on "Reset".

Attention! Don't confuse resetting your iPhone with resetting the settings of the watch itself. This operation is performed through the Watch app!
