If you hold them in your hands and look from the front, then only a sensitive eye will be able to see the difference, and that is, look closely:

I was not at the presentation, but I held both samples in my hands, and holding them side by side, I immediately saw the difference in both the back cover and the front panel, although for the average user they will be 100% identical. For example, can you tell which one is A51 and which one is A71:

Don't hurt your eyes, bluish is A51, pink is A71. I will tell you exactly how they differ in appearance towards the end of this review.

The smartphones are actually iconic, as for Samsung, because the A51/A71 are the first smartphones in the Galaxy line with macro cameras, and it’s true, I don’t remember where I’ve seen a macro camera on Samsung before, or whether I’ve seen it at all.

On the front there is a proprietary design from Samsung, which is called Infinity-O, that is, with a round cutout for the front camera. This is better than a drop and even more so than a unibrow. In this regard, of course, Samsung lags behind Xiaomi, which in its Mi Mix 4 has already implemented and shown a camera inside the screen without any cutouts. I am more than sure that Samsung left this feature for its flagships Galaxy S11 and Note 11. In fact, that the A51 and A71 are the middle segment from Samsung, you will find confirmation of this in the technical specifications.

The notch in the screen has become the hallmark of the smartphone.

If we talk about colors, in real life I liked the black color the most, which was called Prism Crush Black, there are also colors in white, blue and pink style (all also have the Prism Crush prefix):

The case materials can also speak of the middle segment, because it is made of plastic with a metal frame, so there is no wireless charging here. The plastic is very high quality, somewhat reminiscent of glass, and an inexperienced user can easily confuse high-quality plastic from Samsung with glass. On the reverse side there is a gradient 3D prismatic layer, the pattern of which can vary slightly depending on the angle at which the light falls on it and least of all it plays in black. This material received the marketing name Glastic:

The metal frame is massive and floats around the ends, which may not be to everyone’s liking; I personally don’t really like this option, I like it when the frame is not visible:

It’s clear what inspired the designers of the Galaxy A51 / A71, Google Pixel 4 and all similar backdrops, because the design of the backdrop was clearly borrowed from one of these flagships. Apparently, in 2022 we will see the following trend for large square platforms for the main cameras:

As they say, they will get used to it, people will get used to it and it will become habitual by mid-2022. As for the platform itself with cameras, it sticks out only slightly and will not cause discomfort during use. The ergonomics of the devices are standard, the most common, power and volume buttons on the right, a microphone at the bottom, a Type-C connector, a single multimedia speaker and a 3.5mm jack. The dimensions of the A51 are more compact, this is already clear, length 158.5, width 73.6 and thickness 7.9 mm, and weight 172 grams. The A71 is 163.6 mm long, 76 mm wide and 7.7 mm thick with a weight of 179 grams.

Both smartphones look no worse than flagships. You stop noticing the hole for the camera an hour after you start communicating with the device. The frame around the perimeter of the screen is also almost invisible. The back side of the case pleases with the absence of additional details and inscriptions. A little confusing is that it is completely plastic.
