Today, no one can be surprised by a smartphone with a battery capacity of 4-5 thousand mAh. But when it comes to higher-capacity batteries, for a long time the choice was very limited to little-known brands. And so, Samsung has quite successfully entered this niche with the Galaxy M series. Today we will get acquainted with a smartphone whose advantages, in addition to the battery, are a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a high-quality display, a good camera and a general level of equipment.

Galaxy M51 equipment
The Samsung Galaxy M51 comes with a 30W charger with a USB Type-C output connector, a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable, and a SIM card tray ejector. The use of such a cable is rare. Unfortunately, the package does not include a case, but this smartphone could use one.
Design, assembly, ergonomics
Samsung Galaxy M51 is a large and hefty smartphone with a 6.7-inch display diagonal. The large display and capacious battery could not but affect the weight and size characteristics of the device. The weight of the smartphone is 213 grams, which is quite a lot, considering the all-plastic body. But this is the price for 7000 mAh.
The plastic coating turned out to be varnished and slippery, so a cover would be useful. The case cannot be called grippy, and due to its weight and dimensions you will have to hold it tightly. And you should be prepared for the fact that holding this phone in your hands for a long time is simply tiring.
But there are no complaints about the build quality of the Samsung Galaxy M51 - the body feels monolithic, although it is not. Fingerprints are not visible on the white glossy plastic, but there is also a black color option on sale - and there are questions about practicality.
In general, despite its weight and size, the Samsung Galaxy M51 fits well in the hand. My only complaint is that the volume rocker is too high; you have to reach for it with your right thumb. But it all depends on the size of your hand. I'm sure those with large hands will find it comfortable.
As for the power key, it fits perfectly under the thumb. It is mechanical, has a short stroke and has a built-in fingerprint scanner. To unlock, just touch the key for a split second. The scanner is very accurate and fast. Another unlocking method is face scanning. This method is just as fast, but only in relatively good lighting. In the dark, the phone will not recognize you.
On the bottom panel there is a USB Type-C port, mini-jack, microphone and speaker. Unfortunately, there is no support for stereo sound. On the left side there is only a tray for two Nano-SIM cards and a microSD memory card.
There is nothing else on the back panel except the camera unit. By the way, the camera protrudes above the body slightly and when lying on the back on the table, the smartphone hardly sways.
Galaxy M51 display
The smartphone is equipped with a high-quality Super AMOLED+ display with a diagonal of 6.7 inches and a resolution of 2400x1080. The display produces a very pleasing picture to the eye, especially in the “Natural Colors” mode. The gamma becomes a little warmer and more comfortable to the eye. There is another display mode - “Rich Colors”. In it, the gamma becomes more acidic, but it can also be adjusted through additional white balance adjustments. Traditionally, for matrices based on organic diodes, the black color is as deep as possible. I also really liked the viewing angles without inversion to other shades.
The frames around the display are thin, but not flagship-thin, and there is a slight thickening at the bottom. A bonus is support for the Always-On function and its detailed configuration.
The front camera is neatly integrated into the display, you quickly get used to it, and if you select a dark theme in the settings, you will see it very rarely, except for games.
Screen overview
Samsung M51 is equipped with a large 6.7-inch Amoled display with FHD+ resolution. It doesn't have a fancy refresh rate, just 60Hz, but that's okay.
During testing it showed:
- White brightness: 373 cd/m2 in normal mode or 677 cd/m2 in automatic mode
- Black brightness: 0 cd/m2
- Contrast: maximum
Color accuracy: DeltaE 2.5 in the sRGB color space, that is, excellent calibration
Also note: the specifications for the smartphone do not indicate support for HDR, but YouTube and Amazon Prime Video provide HDR content to the phone, Netflix does not.
Galaxy M51 equipment
The smartphone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor, an eight-core chip with a maximum frequency of 2.2 GHz. The video core is Adreno 618. The version with 6 GB of RAM (LPDDR4x) and 128 GB of permanent memory was tested. The Galaxy M51 runs Android 10 with One UI 2 skin.
A combination of such hardware and such software allows the smartphone to work quickly, smoothly and without any delays. The smartphone cannot be called a gaming smartphone, but it copes with graphically intensive projects like Call of Duty Mobile with flying colors, allowing you to play on high graphics with a constantly high frame rate. The heating of the case in games is minimal.
The logic and interface design are completely similar to dozens of Samsung models in recent years. The shell is quite flexibly customizable, and I have no complaints about its appearance, although this is an exclusively subjective point.
Wireless standards are represented by NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, LTE with support for 3 and 7 bands and Bluetooth 5.0. There are no complaints about the quality of communication and voice transmission, as well as about the operation of other interfaces. The vibration motor is quite strong and feels good in your pocket. The volume of the main speaker is good, but it lacks a little low frequencies, the sound is loud but flat.
CPU
Inside, the Samsung M51 has the famous Snapdragon 730G processor, which was used on the Samsung A71 (although there is a version without G, without an overclocked graphics processor). In order not to describe tedious characteristics, I will present the benchmark results.
GeekBench 5 (multi-core)
- Poco X3 NFC – 1777
- Samsung M51 – 1774
- Samsung A71 – 1733
GeekBench 5 (single core)
- Poco X3 NFC – 568
- Samsung M51 – 546
- Samsung A71 – 542
AnTuTu 8
- Poco X3 NFC – 283750
- Samsung M51 – 266620
- Samsung A71 – 263396
GFX Car Chase graphics test (on screen):
- Poco X3 NFC – 16
- Samsung M51 – 15
- Samsung A71 – 15
Samsung M51 is a powerful smartphone, and it can even handle games like PUBG at high graphics settings. Of course, the hardware is far from flagship, but its operating speed is not inferior to any other processor.
Camera
The main camera unit of the Samsung Galaxy M51 consists of 4 modules:
- 64 MP with f/1.8 aperture (IMX682);
- 12 MP ultra-wide-angle with f/2.2 aperture;
- 5 MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture;
- 5 MP depth of field, with f/2.4 aperture.
The main camera takes very good pictures in natural light and quite good when the light deteriorates. As the light level drops, the contours become a little blurry - the noise reduction system takes its toll, but overall, everything is pretty good.
Video recording occurs in 4K resolution at a frequency of 30 fps. In the video you can clearly see how the camera lacks an optical stabilization system, but overall it’s not bad.

The front camera is a 32-megapixel module with an f/2.2 aperture and, unfortunately, without autofocus. But the pictures come out good.
Autonomy Galaxy M51
Battery life is, without exaggeration, the main feature of the Samsung Galaxy M51. A smartphone with a fairly economical processor and a very capacious battery cannot be discharged in one day. Maybe you'll try to play all day, but that's unlikely. In mode without games, with an average number of calls (up to half an hour), the same amount of listening to music, social networks, the smartphone works quite calmly for a full two days, without any problems.
When playing a YouTube video at average display brightness and average volume level, the Galaxy M51 discharges by... 4% per hour. Very impressive, not to mention over 20 hours in the PCMark benchmark.
Now let's talk about charging time, since this is also an important point, given the capacity of 7000 mAh. From the included charger with a power of 30 W, the smartphone charges in 30 minutes - 28%, in 1 hour - 58%.
A full charge from 10 to 100% is achieved in about 2 hours, which is also quite good. By the way, using the included cable, you can charge other devices from the Galaxy M51, for example, another smartphone.

ITC.UA rating
Pros: display, autonomy, level of equipment
Cons: slippery body, lack of stereo sound
Conclusion: Samsung Galaxy M51 is a rare example of a smartphone with a capacious battery from a well-known manufacturer. Almost everything about it is good - display, battery life, camera, general level of equipment. There are shortcomings, but they are hidden in the little things. For example, given the price category, the smartphone lacks stereo sound. And it’s worth keeping in mind the weight and size of the smartphone, they are considerable, but given the battery capacity, the Galaxy M51 cannot be criticized for this. But the case could be more grippy, and the case would not harm it. Otherwise, this is clearly one of the longest-living smartphones, which you definitely won’t have to charge every day.
Do you need a smartphone with a large battery?
It seems to me that such a device is a little dubious and only suitable to attract users when there is nothing else to show. Increasing battery capacity is not as difficult or as expensive as installing a better display or a faster processor.
If you are involved in outdoor activities and go camping for a week or even more, this battery will not be enough for you. I wouldn’t go wild fishing for three or four days with such a smartphone either. It turns out that to such places you still need to take external batteries with you, which are now not at all expensive (for example, the one from Ali).
Samsung showed off a new foldable smartphone. What is it for?
For normal everyday use, such a capacity is even more questionable. Why carry around a thick and heavy smartphone when you can use something much more compact? Especially if you give it something like fast charging and/or wireless charging capabilities. This option is much more convenient for a city dweller.
It is much easier and more convenient to use a thin smartphone.
It turns out that such a smartphone is not needed by a city dweller, but for a traveler it will still not be enough. Then why release it, except for PR or to cover up a lack of technology? I don't see any other reason.
As for the appearance of the device, 91mobiles also published images in which its body is clearly visible. The model numbers SM-M127F / SM-F127G are also called.
