Obviously, many of them sincerely believe that there is nothing reprehensible in not releasing a fresh update for a branded device. But if some at least pretend that they are not adapting the update due to technical limitations imposed by the hardware of the device itself, then others - such as Huawei, for example - can afford to simply stop updating even flagships, without explaining the reasons for their behavior. Against this background, the list of branded smartphones of the Chinese brand that will receive Android 11 this year looks unusually wide.

Preparatory stage
Despite the fact that each subsequent firmware version brings a lot of new functions, after the update some smartphones are unstable. This happens when the user ignores the preparation step.
Before installing updates on Huawei Honor 9X, you need to meet 2 basic requirements:
- charge your smartphone at least 30%;
- perform a factory reset.
And if everything is clear with the first point, then the second raises many questions for some people. Resetting to factory settings completely deletes files from the smartphone's memory. This allows you to avoid errors when installing updates.
Of course, no one wants to lose personal data, so before resetting you need to create a backup:
- Open settings.
- Go to the "Storage and Backups" section.
- Click on the Google Drive heading.
- Activate the backup.
Performing these steps will result in the backup file being uploaded to cloud storage. After updating Android, it can be restored.
If there is not enough space on Google Drive to save all the data, it is recommended to create a backup copy through the “Backup and Restore” item. The resulting file should be moved to another device (for example, a computer) during the flashing process, and after the process is completed, return it back to the phone’s memory.
If the backup has been successfully created, you can safely proceed to restoring the phone to factory settings:
- Launch device settings.
- Go to the "Backup and Reset" section.
- Select “Reset settings”.
- Click the Reset Phone button.
- Confirm the operation.
Now you need to reboot your smartphone, and then proceed directly to the process of installing new firmware.
This spring, Huawei will present smartphones of the Mate 40 family. Perhaps, due to American sanctions, the new generation flagships will receive processors manufactured by MediaTek, and the announcement will be delayed for several weeks. But in any case, EMUI 11 software will debut along with future new products. Today it became known that 43 smartphones from the Chinese companies Honor and Huawei will receive the new firmware version.
Let us remember that EMUI is the shell of Huawei models, but some older and several relatively new Honor brand devices also work with this add-on. These are the 2022 models Honor 20 Lite, Honor 9X, Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X Premium.
EMUI 11 software will become available on almost four dozen more Huawei smartphones. This list, not counting several Lite and SE versions, includes the Huawei Mate 30, Huawei Mate 20, Huawei P40, Huawei P30, Huawei Enjoy, Huawei Enjoy 20, Huawei nova 7, Huawei nova 6, Huawei nova 5, Huawei foldable flagships families Mate X and Mate Xs, as well as several available solutions from the Huawei P smart series. You will find a list of all models in the table below. Note that almost all of them were announced in 2022 and 2020. The exceptions are four models of the Huawei Mate 20 family.
There are now rumors that Huawei may abandon the Android operating system, and EMUI 11 will be built on proprietary software HongMengOS 2.0/HarmonyOS 2.0, depending on the region, which will unite all the gadgets of the Chinese company into one ecosystem. However, similar rumors already appeared last year after the introduction of American sanctions. When the Chinese company lost access to Google services, there was talk of moving to the proprietary HongMeng operating system, but the CEO said that EMUI for smartphones will continue to be based on Android. Therefore, there is a high probability that the EMUI 11 add-on will be based on a fresh version of the “green robot”.

On the one hand, this list of more than three dozen gadgets looks plausible. On the other hand, a possible update to Android 11 does not mean that the version of this operating system for all of them will be complete. Some devices on the list - for example, Huawei Mate 30 Pro - are not equipped with Google services, which forces you to resort to tricks to fully use them.
However, the issue of the presence of Google services in Huawei smartphones may be settled by the release of Android 11. There is already talk online about an alliance of this and other Chinese companies that want to work together on an alternative for the search giant’s app store in order to eliminate dependence on US sanctions.
How to install Android 11 on Honor and Huawei smartphones?
There are several update options: over the air, via Wi-Fi, which is much more convenient and faster. The second method is manually, where you will have to use a downloaded file, which will take more time. Considering the same results, choose the instruction that is more suitable. If you have never flashed or installed the latest version of the shell before, do not be alarmed. If you follow the instructions, everything will be done quickly and successfully.
Over the air update
This method of updating a new version is installed using Fota technology. It’s clear, very convenient, takes a minimum of time and effort. What to do:
- go to the settings menu;

- select "System update";
